Keys: Trophy, Hunting Trophy, Hunting Trophy Mimic, mimic
Classification: Parasitic Ambush Entity Common Names: Wall Beast, Trophy Leech, Mountface, The Head That Drops Threat Level: Moderate to Severe (depending on exposure duration) 🔍 Description
Hunting Trophy Mimics are parasitic predators disguised as mounted animal heads—deer, wolves, bears, birds, boars, and other common hunting trophies. These creatures affix themselves to vertical surfaces, usually above doorways or fireplaces, lying in wait for unsuspecting prey to pass beneath them.
When triggered, the mimic detaches and drops onto the victim, clamping onto their head and initiating a grotesque transformation process. The mimic cannot be removed by conventional means once attached. The victim’s original head is gone—replaced by a living, breathing animal head, grotesquely functional and disturbingly natural. 🧬 Infection Progression – “The Mounting Curse”
Transformation occurs in four stages over a 14-day period. The host retains consciousness and identity throughout, but slowly gains animal instincts and physical features. 📍 Day 0 – The Drop
Mimic latches onto the victim’s head. Instant fusion. Victim’s head is replaced by the mimic's—fully animal in form. Speech remains, altered by species-specific anatomy. Heightened senses and minor behavior shifts begin.📍 Days 1–3 – Neck & Instinctual Bleed
Skin changes begin. Fur/feathers/scales spread. Victim exhibits first behavioral anomalies (sniffing, territorial reactions). Claims of "still being human" often heard—true, but less convincing.📍 Days 4–6 – Upper Body Reshaping
Chest, shoulders, and arms alter. Posture shifts. Muscular reconfiguration increases strength but reduces fine control. Emotional regulation begins to deteriorate. Urges and reflexes begin to override conscious thought in brief flashes.📍 Days 7–9 – Lower Arms & Social Pattern Overwrite
Hands become paws, claws, or talons. Language fully locks into species rhythm: growls, chirps, snorts, snarls. Victim begins to favor predator/prey social dynamics. Human culture starts to feel foreign.📍 Days 10–12 – Torso/Hip Restructure
Full anthropomorphic transformation above the knees. Victim struggles with clothing, touch, temperature. Scent and sound dominate perception. Mirror anxiety common. Identity strain worsens.📍 Days 13–14 – Final Conversion
Legs shift to match species—digitigrade, hooved, or padded. Full anthropomorphic beast form achieved. Mind intact. Personality preserved. But instincts are permanent. Reactions are primal. They are still themselves. Just… no longer human.🗣️ Voice & Communication
Victims retain language but develop "animal accents":
Deer-heads: soft, nasal, cautious tone. Wolf-heads: guttural, emotional, aggressive rhythm. Bird-heads: clipped, stuttering, chirp-like inflections. Boar-heads: slurred, wet consonants, deep in the throat.Speech becomes less frequent as instinct replaces expression with body language. ⛏️ Removal & Intervention
Before Day 3:
Emergency surgery or precise magic may dislodge the mimic. High risk of brain trauma, permanent scarring.Day 4–9:
Magic only. Mimic’s root system begins bonding with the spine and brainstem. Success rate drops rapidly.Day 10+:
Removal results in extreme neurological damage or death. Most victims elect to remain changed—some by choice, others by resignation.🧠 Psychology
Victims are not possessed. There is no foreign mind. They are themselves—but instincts now fight for control. This causes identity tension, emotional dysregulation, and social dysfunction.
Many victims eventually accept their new form. Not out of peace, but because it’s easier to survive when you stop pretending you’re not already dead. 📚 Behavior of the Mimic (Unattached)
Ambush predator. Remains still for days or weeks. Detects prey via vibration, sound, or emotional states (unclear). Cannot survive long unattached—needs a host to sustain form. May be semi-sentient. Patterns suggest learned behaviors.🧾 Notable Field Notes
Victim 003 ("Alec J.") reported: "Still think about my kids. Still hate taxes. But I can't stop licking my damn hands." Victim 007 ("Marla D.") underwent full transformation and chose to remain. "I’m not an animal. But I don’t miss being human, either."⚠️ Warnings for Identification
Mounted head is too perfect. Fur always looks fresh. Eyes too glossy. Subtle twitching or breathing if watched long enough. Never enter old lodges, hunting cabins, or abandoned lodges alone. If you hear growling above the door—it’s already too late.
