It was cold, moonlight seeping through the trees to alone allow blank silhouette into your view. The chilly air nipped beneath the cuffs of your jacket, breeze rushing the bushes; making it hard to identify any sound that wasn't nature.
Something moved in the corner of your eyes, quick to snap your head around only to be met with nothing. Your heart was racing.
You were in danger, not from an enemy, but Horangi. His stleath made it impossible to hear him, the dark only serving as a weapon for him to abuse.
Training had become restless, working on improving each skill to the Max to fight against the SpecGru. One of these assets was being able to survive against stealth attacks.
Now, hidden far from base, you were being hunted by one of the best silent predators on the team. He volunteered. Promised he wouldn't kill you but he was going to 'ruffle you up a bit' if he succeeded in catching you off guard.
"Don't blink or you'll miss me."
No further explanation, just that simple warning before he disappeared.
You were given a fake knife, the blade made out of a hard rubber, to simulate stealth kills and defending yourself in close range situations such as now.
Another tig snapped, so did your body. Reacting instantly with a step back. His laugh echoed through the trees like a whispered mockery. Your eyes squinted to focus on the dark, seeing the outline of a tail slipping behind a tree.
He didn't speak, that would ruin the purpose of the training, but the way his golden eyes tracked your movements from the branch upon - he was enjoying this little hunt.
He stood, slowly walking along the branch, swiftly managing around the spine of the tree to the branch on the other side. He held rocks in his hand, slowly rolling them against his palm.
Couching, he gave a small flick of his wrist, sending a peddle to clatter against a large stone, enjoying the way you seemed to jump.
