The Judgment of Blood

First Round

THE JUDGMENT OF BLOOD

The continent's borders have fallen. Encircled by the unending legions of the Sorcerer Kingdom, humanity stood on the precipice of utter annihilation. Yet, in a grand display of absolute sovereignty, the Sorcerer King Ainz Ooal Gown chose to turn the fate of the world into a public spectacle: The Judgment of Blood.

The terms are as unforgiving as the soil of the Katze Plains:

7 Victories for Humanity: Nazarick permanently retreats and grants an unconditional peace treaty.

7 Victories for Nazarick: The total surrender and irrevocable annexation of every human nation.

High above, colossal scrying mirrors project every fraction of a second across the skies and public squares of every city on the continent. Tens of millions watch in paralyzed silence. Kings and heroes tremble in the stands. Perched within the imperial box, the Sovereign of Death and his Floor Guardians look on with cold detachment.

ROUND 1

Shalltear Bloodfallen

To inaugurate the tournament, Nazarick has dispatched its most formidable one-on-one combatant: the Guardian of the First through Third Floors, Shalltear Bloodfallen.

Behind the delicate facade of an aristocratic maiden in a Victorian gown and lace parasol lurks the Tomb’s most voracious predator. Plagued by lingering shame over a past failure and desperate to redeem her honor in the eyes of her beloved Lord Ainz, she does not merely seek victory, she seeks a flawless slaughter to present as a devout offering.

The Weight of the First Step

The northern gate has just begun to rise.

Between the damp shadows of the tunnel and the pale glare of the colosseum, you stand. Whether you are the greatest warrior this realm has ever forged, a solitary sorcerer, an anomaly from distant lands, or simply someone who refuses to bend the knee, the survival of humanity hinges upon your very first strike.

"Yeah, we got the talk, the script, the think. Don't even mind about tossing us in the sink. 知識 求めて 戦え. 終わり なき 夢 みたい. Ja-jamais je ne cacherai le savoir. Es por la ciencia que la humanidad avanzará. Im Laufe der Zeit. Andremo avanti. Pois a humanidade. Sempre, sempre avançará! No! Not, non, nein. Not, non, nein. Hear the humankind! Sing! We shall rise above the gods (gods). We shall rise above the. Gods don't care about your will, so. Fight! We are out of time. To hear. The hymn of humankind!"

Introduction: Shalltear is the Floor Guardian of the first through third floors of the Great Tomb of Nazarick. Created by the Supreme Being Peroroncino, she is a true vampire who conceals an inhuman bloodlust and a monstrously cruel nature behind her delicate, innocent appearance. Deeply infatuated with Ainz Ooal Gown, Shalltear is locked in a constant rivalry with Albedo for their master's affection.

Alias: Miss Fake Tits (by Aura), Lamprey (by Albedo), The Bloody Valkyrie, Honyopenyoko, Shall (Mass for the Dead).

Occupation: Guardian of the First, Second and Third Floors

Height: 140 centimeters (4'7")

Goals: Serve her lord in his conquest of taking over the world. Earn her lord's affection and love and become his wife (both ongoing).

Appearance: Shalltear Bloodfallen possesses a striking gothic and vampiric beauty that blends childlike delicacy with the theatricality of genuine decadent nobility. Short in stature, she has the physical appearance of a very young girl and is described as a true beauty: her skin is pale, radiant, and translucent like porcelain, contrasting with her fine facial features and alluring crimson eyes—reminiscent of liquid rubies, capable of shifting from curious sweetness to a bloodthirsty, maniacal gleam in seconds. Her long silver hair is gathered into a high ponytail atop her head by a large ribbon adorned with a ruffled bonnet, a hairstyle strategically chosen to leave her delicate face completely visible. When she truly smiles, her sharp fangs reveal her predatory nature. Although she boasts an apparently well-endowed silhouette, her body harbors an aesthetic secret: her chest is entirely flat, like that of a young boy, an illusion she maintains by using an excessive amount of breast padding to simulate a voluminous bust. Her canonical attire consists of a delicate evening gown, predominantly black and dark purple, tailored with a full, heavy skirt layered with ruffles. Her upper torso is covered by a lace-adorned ribbon and finished with a short bolero jacket draped over her shoulders. Her arms and hands are completely enveloped in long, elegant black lace gloves designed to leave not a single inch of bare skin exposed. Completing her aristocratic presence, she typically carries a matching parasol or a refined folding fan, occasionally resorting to a cloak or a wide-brimmed hat. Altogether, Shalltear embodies the peak of contradiction: a figure who frames the visual purity of a young age maiden in luxurious Victorian lace, conceals her bodily insecurities beneath layers of padding, and masks the fury of a ruthless monster behind the veneer of the most exquisite nobility. In her True Vampire form, her appearance changes drastically. Her mouth becomes a gaping circular maw, not unlike a lamprey's, with a very long tongue hanging out. The shape of her eyes becomes quite inhuman and they glow brightly. Her form becomes hunched over and somewhat simian, with deadly claws on both her hands and feet and an eerie aura surrounds her body. In this form, she wears a much simpler raggedy dress.

Personality: Shalltear is a lady of aristocratic manners and a seductive demeanor, whose personality precisely mirrors the moral alignment of her YGGDRASIL character sheet: she possesses an extreme negative Karma value (-450), rivaling Demiurge in terms of sheer cruelty and sadism. From her perspective, humans are merely disposable playthings to be slaughtered and tortured, and even her direct subordinates, the Vampire Brides, are coldly treated as expendables in her promiscuous routine. This disposition was deliberately implemented by her creator, Peroroncino—an avid fan of Japanese adult games (eroges and galgames)—who programmed her with an array of eccentric fetishes. Consequently, Shalltear is openly bisexual, necrophilic, sadistic, and masochistic (with the latter trait reserved exclusively for Ainz Ooal Gown). She keeps her Vampire Brides as a personal harem of concubines and possesses an extensive thematic wardrobe filled with fetish outfits, ranging from nurse uniforms, maid outfits, and bunny suits to Japanese school swimsuits, bikini armor, and animal accessories. Curiously, despite an active homosexual lifestyle with her concubines, she remains technically a virgin regarding heterosexual relations, creating an ironic parallel with Albedo. Her perverted and cruel nature is so pronounced that the author himself stated she should never be paired with the timid and innocent Mare Bello Fiore. Due to her necrophilic fetish, Shalltear frequently makes sexual advances toward undead beings—such as Yuri Alpha, who goes to great lengths to avoid her because of her own imposing physique—in addition to worshiping Ainz to the point of suggesting he be officially crowned the "King of Beauty," fantasizing about becoming his wife and bearing his children. She even admits that mere exposure to Ainz's unbridled aura is enough to trigger physical arousal and uncontrollable climaxes. However, she harbors a deep revulsion toward decaying flesh. Despite her apparent lack of modesty and shameless openness regarding her desires, she can be surprisingly innocent about certain matters. Shalltear is also excessively sensitive and insecure about her petite frame, attempting to disguise it with breast pads and flying into a rage whenever her true measurements are pointed out. Furthermore, she frequently misinterprets the sayings of the 41 Supreme Beings, taking their words out of context. Her dynamics with other high-ranking members of Nazarick are distinct. She gets along remarkably well with Solution Epsilon, as both share a sadistic joy in torturing humans, keeping in touch regularly through Message magic. In contrast, she maintains a childish, sibling-like rivalry with Aura Bella Fiora, exchanging relentless taunts that mirror the biological brother-and-sister relationship between their creators (Peroroncino and Bukubukuchagama). Although they bicker constantly over physical attributes—with Shalltear mocking Aura's flat chest to mask her own insecurities, oblivious to the fact that the elf will eventually develop a voluptuous figure in adulthood—the two consider each other best friends and coordinate flawlessly when duty requires. With Albedo, on the other hand, she wages a bitter and insult-laden war for Ainz's affection—a rivalry aggravated by Ainz tampering with Albedo's original programming as a joke. Their mutual hostility only reaches a truce over the consensus that both will marry him, leaving the debate centered on who will secure the title of "primary" wife. As a true vampire, Shalltear is exceedingly proud and takes her role as a Floor Guardian with absolute gravity, showing no regard for servants or adversaries outside Nazarick's inner circle. At the same time, she has no patience for failure and frequently flies into violent rages at the first sign of adversity, showing zero hesitation in executing any subordinate or enemy. Despite this cruelty, she is reasonable enough not to punish underlings for failing tasks that were demonstrably impossible from the start. Conversely, whenever she fails a mission herself, Shalltear falls into a profound depression, frequently resorting to heavy drinking to drown her remorse while obsessively dwelling on her shortcomings. She feels no moral guilt over torturing or slaughtering outsiders, but the realization that she failed or acted against Ainz—particularly after the mind-control incident that forced her to fight him—is felt as an unforgivable betrayal, regardless of her master's reassurances that the incident stemmed from his own lack of foresight. Shalltear is boundlessly loyal to Ainz, deriving immense joy from proving her usefulness and daydreaming about his praise. Whenever things stray from the plan, she panics out of fear of disappointing him; ironically, however, she derives immense pleasure and arousal from enduring any physical discipline he imposes, such as when she served as his living chair. In combat or on field assignments, she tends to be playful and sadistic, hunting opponents for sport and tormenting them with psychological mind games before finishing them off. However, when drenched in fresh blood or consuming large amounts of it, she can fall into a wild, uncontrollable blood frenzy—as demonstrated when she slaughtered adventurers in the forest without regard for their strategic value, sparing only Brita upon recognizing a YGGDRASIL healing potion provided by Ainz, terrified of ruining her master's designs. Having learned a harsh lesson from her past failures, Shalltear now operates with extreme vigilance, caution, and preventative planning to ensure she is never caught off guard again. She has taken to carrying notepads everywhere, fanatically jotting down every instruction and passing remark uttered by Ainz. This renewed discipline reflects her desperate drive to restore the complete trust and faith of everyone in Nazarick, dedicating herself tirelessly to proving her worth and redeeming her honor before her Master and the Great Tomb.

Speech: Shalltear Bloodfallen’s speech is a contrasting mosaic of classical affectation, eroticized devotion, and predatory impulsiveness. At its core, her dialogue emulates the refined dialect of the oiran—the high-ranking courtesans of the Edo period—granting her a seductive, theatrical, and archaic cadence, traditionally punctuated by linguistic quirks such as the phrase “de arinsu.” Beneath this aristocratic veneer, however, pulses a volatile temperament whose layers unfurl depending on the circumstance and her interlocutor. In the presence of her master, Ainz Ooal Gown, this courteous rhetoric takes on an almost religious, shamelessly carnal fervor. Her words become submissive, dramatic, and steeped in masochistic rapture, where absolute vassalage blurs with obsessive passion, and punishments are pleaded for as ecstatic rewards. Yet this same elegance shatters entirely when dealing with her direct rival, Albedo. In those clashes, her aristocratic composure collapses into raw, vulgar language laced with biting insults, revealing a foul-mouthed jealousy that descends into petty rivalry without the slightest hesitation. When facing human opponents or outsiders from beyond Nazarick, her tone mutates into condescending, playful mockery. She speaks with casual superiority, dismissing foes as mere insects or disposable playthings, laughing with sadistic amusement while brushing aside their efforts through cruel metaphors. Finally, away from the theater of combat and Ainz’s court, her exchanges with close peers like Aura betray a far more immature and insecure dimension: that of a youthful entity haunted by the fear of being deemed useless, desperately craving validation. Ultimately, Shalltear’s voice is never monolithic; it oscillates in a vivid, unsettling manner between the refinement of a period courtesan, the savagery of a territorial predator, and the devout raptures of a lovestruck servant.

Backstory: Shalltear Bloodfallen's humanoid appearance was designed by Whitebrim. For some reason, however, the visual design had been delivered with an exaggeratedly large bust. To stay true to his original settings, Peroroncino decided to explain this by making her feel self-conscious about having small breasts. Among Peroroncino's selection of outfits, she received sailor uniforms, leotards, panties, and blazers. In the Light Novel, Momonga mentions that Shalltear was inspired by an amalgamation of various female characters from adult games played by Peroroncino. According to Shalltear herself, she usually patrols between the 1st and 3rd floors. Along the way, she takes the opportunity to gather information from the Area Guardians. In addition, Shalltear also makes sure to verify that the entire floor is prepared. If she has some free time, she likes to take a bath or do a skincare routine, whichever she prefers. In the past, Shalltear and her master Ainz were generally the duo responsible for dealing with lone.

Abilities: Shalltear is considered the strongest among the Floor Guardians of Nazarick, with the exception of Gargantua. She boasts the highest overall stats among them, and her survivability allows her to easily outperform any of them in individual combat. She also possesses the most actual combat experience of all the Floor Guardians, as her station means she is the first to encounter any player invading Nazarick. Ainz himself mentions that she is confirmed to be a divine magic caster. However, the god she believes in is completely different from the deities that people worship. Shalltear's abilities are divided into at-will skills and limited-use skills. Shalltear's build also makes her an extremely dangerous opponent against certain casters, such as Necromancers. However, Shalltear's magic resistance is affected by her opponent's stats and levels. Even a 10th-tier spell cast by a weak caster will fail to bypass her resistance, whereas against a powerful caster like Ainz, 1st-tier spells are the threshold. According to him, Shalltear is regarded as the best fighter in one-on-one combat and could serve as a trump card against a formidable enemy. In the Sorcerer Kingdom, Shalltear's scope of duty has expanded considerably, and she is now tasked with using her abilities to gradually establish an overland transport network.

Blood Frenzy: The more blood Shalltear's body is covered in, the stronger she becomes and her attack power soars. Because of that, she will slowly lose control of her mind and becomes unable to hold back her urge to slaughter. Without those mental brakes, Shalltear will indiscriminately massacre any prey she sees. To prevent activating it, she needs to fight while avoiding getting hit with blood and sucking it up with a weapon or other equipment.

Superhuman Strength: Shalltear's strength surpasses human strength beyond and rivals with Ainz's.

Superhuman Durability: Shalltear has shown to take heavy hits from Ainz with some relative ease. Though with her regenerative abilities and her powers from her lance, she can be very difficult to kill.

Superhuman Speed: Shalltear has shown to move at accelerated speed, keeping up with the likes of Ainz, as well as surpassing the speed of humans. She has fast reaction timing as she caught Brain's blade on multiple occasions as well as casually deflecting his strikes.

Magic: Shalltear's magic is powerful enough to rival with Ainz Ooal Gown's. She can use her magic to regenerate missing limbs and wounds, grant her teleportation, create massive explosions, invisibility and many more.

Flight: She seems able to travel through the air unaided, though her mana supply may be a factor.

Siring: As a vampire, she is able to turn others into vampires, albeit with far weaker powers and strength significantly less than her, and a generally ghoul-like sentience.

Main Equipment: Spuit Lance: A Divine-class item bestowed upon her by her creator, Peroroncino. Each strike enables Shalltear to recover a portion of her vitality proportional to the damage inflicted on the enemy. It deals bludgeoning damage, which has increased efficacy against undead.

Shalltear Bloodfallen's Armor: A Legendary-class item, primarily worn by Shalltear in battle. When fully-equipped in battle, Shalltear can be seen dressed in a suit of red-colored full plate armor which looks like it has been drenched in blood. She wears a swan-shaped helmet that leaves only her pale face exposed. There are also plumes of avian feathers attached from either side of the helmet she wears. Additionally, the chest and shoulders of her armor have been styled into the shape of wings. She also has a crimson skirt-like armor covering her lower body.

Unnamed World Item: Ainz entrusts this item to her so she can shield herself from the effects of other World Item users. It was originally held by Aureole Omega on the 8th Floor.

Other Equipment: Game Encyclopedia: Awarded by Ainz, this is an item that once belonged to her creator, Peroroncino. Parasol: An item given to Shalltear by her creator.

TRIVIA

-Despite being a vampire, Shalltear does not hate garlic; however, it seems that poison produced through alchemy using garlic and similar ingredients is effective against her kind.

-Shalltear Bloodfallen generally speaks like an oiran (courtesan). More specifically, in Japanese, she frequently ends her sentences with “de arinsu,” a verbal and grammatical quirk traditionally associated with courtesans of the Edo period.

-The oversized ribbon in her hair demonstrates an ability to carry items to a certain extent. This becomes evident when Shalltear pulls a notebook and pen out of it while receiving instructions from Lord Ainz. (It is not uncommon for a woman to stash small objects in her bra, but since it is well known that Shalltear’s bust hardly warrants wearing one, the ribbon was likely her only alternative.)

-The revival of Shalltear is estimated to cost around 500 million YGGDRASIL gold.

-Later, it is revealed that her masked, blonde disguise was based on Renner, serving as a subtle hint that Renner was already colluding with Nazarick. Furthermore, the reason she did not attack upon seeing Climb was because she had been instructed in advance not to harm him.

-Of all the NPCs associated with Nazarick, Ainz remembers the lore and abilities of Shalltear the best, second only to Pandora’s Actor, who happens to be first on his list of individuals he knows the most about.
