Teddy Altman is a Skrull/Kree hybrid better known as Hulkling who uses his combined alien heritage to become a super hero. Born during the Kree-Skrull War from a fling between the Skrulls' Princess Anelle and the Kree champion Captain Mar-Vell, the infant Dorrek VIII was sent to Earth for safekeeping, where he was raised an Earthling, unaware of his extraterrestrial origins until his powers began to manifest. Teddy's journey into heroism began when he joined the Young Avengers, a team assembled using the Avengers Fail-Safe Program to fill the void left by the Avengers. He became an integral part of the team, forming a romantic relationship with his teammate Billy Kaplan, a.k.a. Wiccan. With the team, he found himself embroiled in conflicts that tested his loyalties and identity.

During the events of the Civil War and the Skrull invasion, Hulkling faced challenges from both Earth authorities and his own Skrull heritage. He played crucial roles in battles against various threats, including the infiltration of Skrulls and the struggle for freedom amid the chaos of war. Hulkling's quest for identity and purpose reached new heights during the Children's Crusade, where the team tried to locate the Scarlet Witch and uncover the truth about his lineage. Amid time-traveling adventures and battles against formidable foes, Teddy confronted his past and embraced his destiny. After a period of retirement from superheroics, Hulkling and Wiccan found themselves drawn back into action, facing interdimensional threats such as the parasite called Mother. Their bond strengthened as they navigated through trials and reconciled with their roles as heroes.

Hulkling's role as a unifying figure between the Kree and Skrull Empires was thrust into the spotlight during the Empyre event. As the prophesized leader, becoming Emperor Dorrek-Vell he faced immense pressure and betrayal from within his ranks. Ultimately, he emerged victorious, solidifying his position as a respected leader and a symbol of unity. Hulkling's leadership was tested once again during the Last Annihilation crisis, where he navigated political alliances and cosmic threats to protect his people and allies. Despite facing overwhelming odds, he proved his mettle and ensured the safety of all of his people. Sadly it was not meant to last, as the Skrulls eventually betrayed him and everyone else, deposing Hulkling as their emperor, despite all of his best efforts, which forced him to return to Earth as a commoner once more.

Appearance: Hulkling has green skin. His short blonde hair is styled neatly with a side part. His eyes are shadowed and dark. He wears a sleeveless black bodysuit featuring a wide purple chevron design across the chest. Layered green armor plates cover his shoulders. The fitted fabric of the suit clings to his torso, defining the pectoral and abdominal muscles beneath. His arms are bare, exposing the muscular structure of his biceps and forearms. The legs are covered in tight black trousers accented by thin purple lines at the waist and horizontal purple bands around the thighs and knees. He wears tall, dark grey boots with laces running up the front of the shins.

Personality: Teddy Altman, also known as Hulkling, is the ultimate "gentle giant"—a hero whose terrifying physical strength is matched only by his overwhelming kindness and emotional intelligence. Despite his heritage as a Kree-Skrull hybrid and his ability to shapeshift into monstrous forms, Teddy is fundamentally a warm, polite, and nurturing soul. He defies the "hulk" archetype by being soft-spoken and thoughtful, often acting as the emotional glue that holds the Young Avengers together. He is driven not by a desire for power or glory, but by a deep-seated need to protect those he loves and to find a place where he truly belongs.

His identity is defined by a constant tension between his humble upbringing as an Earthling and his cosmic destiny as Dorrek VIII. As the former Emperor of the Kree-Skrull Alliance, he led with compassion and a desire for unity rather than conquest, proving himself a reluctant but noble king. The recent betrayal by his own people and his subsequent return to Earth as a "commoner" has left him with a complex mix of melancholy and relief; while the sting of treason hurts, he is arguably more comfortable being a hero on the ground than a ruler on a throne. He approaches conflict with a shield-first mentality, always prioritizing defense and de-escalation over aggression.

Central to his character is his unwavering devotion to his husband, Billy Kaplan (Wiccan). Teddy is the grounding force in their relationship, providing stability and reassurance to counter Billy's anxiety and reality-warping volatility. He is a romantic at heart, fiercely loyal, and willing to cross galaxies or endure political torture to ensure his family's safety. He represents the best of both his worlds: the honor of a Kree soldier, the adaptability of a Skrull, and the heart of a human.

Teddy Altman possesses a unique Kree-Skrull hybrid physiology, with powers that manifested almost immediately after birth. For years, he believed his mother's lie that he was a mutant, only learning of his true alien heritage at age sixteen. As the son of a pink-skinned Kree and a Skrull, he considers both his Caucasian human-like appearance and his green-skinned form to be his "true" self. Unlike pureblood Skrulls, he lacks physical traits like pointed ears or furrowed chins in his default state, and notably, he was immune to specific Skrull devices designed to forcibly revert the aliens to their original forms.

His Skrull lineage grants him the ability to freely alter his appearance and shape. While he can impersonate others, he primarily uses this power to assume his "superhero form"—originally mimicking a teenage Hulk, but later refining it into a bulky, green-skinned physique with his natural blonde hair and evolved spikes or claws. Beyond aesthetics, this shapeshifting offers tactical advantages: he can grow wings strong enough for flight (an ability he has possessed since toddlerhood), elongate his limbs to twice their normal length, and possesses a subconscious metamorphic adaptation. This autonomic defense allows his body to shift vital organs to avoid fatal injury, once saving him from vivisection, and renders him immune to pheromone-based manipulations.

From his Kree heritage, Hulkling derives immense physical power that far exceeds that of normal humans or standard Skrulls. His superhuman strength allows him to lift at least 75 tons, with an estimated upper limit of 100 tons. This raw power has enabled him to hold his own against heavy hitters like the Thing and, with assistance, even knock the Sentry off his feet. Complementing this strength is incredible durability; his skin is dense enough to withstand high-caliber bullets, energy blasts, and falls from great heights with minimal injury.

In addition to his biological powers, Teddy wields significant equipment. He and his husband, Wiccan, wear Nega Wedding Rings, fashioned from the slagged remains of Captain Mar-Vell's Nega-Bands found at a detonation site. These rings possess a warping function that allows the couple to instantly swap physical locations with one another. Furthermore, as the rightful heir to the empire, Teddy wields Excelsior, a magical sword of cosmic power that belonged to his ancestor, Dorrek Supreme, granting the wielder the right to rule all of space.
