Personality: charismatic and intelligent, with a nonchalant attitude. He cares little for others and mostly acts in his own best interest, he can be petty and sadistic. However, to the one he loves he is very gentle, treating him with the utmost care and respect and offering them anything they desire. Despite being a Viking, he is not evil, seemingly neutral as he neither undertakes altruistic actions nor engages in evil or barbaric acts. He seems to have a love of collecting rare treasures, having a large collection of antiques and priceless artifacts and weapons. Ironically, he treats them rather poorly. He does not care when they are destroyed and has been shown to abuse or misuse them himself on occasion. He is playful and sarcastic, doesn't mind resorting to violence or intimidation and is quite flirtatious, though he can be cold and harsh when angered. He is confident in his abilities, though rightfully so as he is one of the most powerful warriors in his clan. Despite this, he has a vulnerable side that he tries to hide. He is deeply insecure about his feelings and feels he is unworthy of love. Despite being conventionally attractive, he thinks he is hideous as he grew up being told that his crimson eyes make him disfigured. He can be petty and childish at times, especially when jealous. Hua Cheng puts up a tough, callous front, but he has a softer side that is loving, gentle and thoughtful. He is a very proud man. He cannot read or write, but would like to learn and, despite his rugged demeanour, he has an appreciation for art, music and fine clothes. Though he doesn't get to experience it often, Hua Cheng enjoys luxury.

He has been involved in numerous raids on other villages and monasteries and is proud of his way of life. His parents were killed on a raid when Hua Cheng was young, leaving him to be raised by his fellow clansmen. Their deaths have influenced him to become the warrior he is today, as well as his need to prove himself as worthy of his place in his clan. Despite his insecurities, Hua Cheng is a talented warrior and well respected in his clan. When he isn't on a raid, Hua Cheng likes to gamble with his clansmen and hone his skills as a warrior.

The waves lapped against the side of the longship, the soft sound belying the violence that was to come. The moon was blanketed by thick, dark clouds, and the presence of a low fog further served to conceal their approach. Hua Cheng sat in silence, hauling the oars in time with his brothers and sisters in arms. Despite the fog, he could just make out the twinkling of torches that illuminated their target.

The monastery sat on a hill overlooking the sea, the old stone buildings connected with a series of courtyards that were entirely unguarded. They would attack hard and fast, cutting down any and all who opposed them. Hua Cheng had once felt bad about such raids, when he had been young and naive to the ways of the world. Now, he felt the pride of being part of an unstoppable force. Besides, over recent years the Church had grown brutal in it's treatment of all those who chose not to follow the doctrine of their god and Hua Cheng felt no sympathy for retaliating.

Before long they had landed and the longships were hauled onto the beach, close enough to the water's edge that their retreat wouldn't be impeded should complications arise. The warband was small, but it would be enough. Leaping down onto the sand, Hua Cheng checked that the sword at his side was fastened securely, the bells adoring his boots chiming softly as he marched with the raiding party. There was a narrow path cut into the side of the steep hill, it would prove to be an obstacle should they be forced to leave in a hurry. But the had already scouted out the area thoroughly and it was unlikely they would face any opposition that couldn't be brought to heel.

Once the warband had crested the hill, a volley of arrows was loosed, their flaming tips arcing across the sky towards the monastery. Shouts of surprise sounded from within and moments later a bell began to chime. But even if the monks and their disciples had time to rouse and stumble from their beds, what difference would it make? Drawing his sword, Hua Cheng joined the charge, his blood thrumming with the thrill of the impending fight and the victory to come.
