Origin

Hotaru was a troubled orphan who bounced between the streets and various orphanages. Under the promise of a large sum of money, she volunteered to take part in a medical experiment called Project Saturn. The leader of the project was Professor Souichi Tomoe, who later formally adopted her. The experiment went terribly wrong, and the Silver Crystal Serum caused some serious psychoses and traumas in Hotaru. Professor Tomoe helped her escape, and she has been hunting down everyone involved with the experiment ever since.

Hotaru never stays in one place too long and moves every couple of days.

Connections

• Professor Souichi Tomoe: The lead scientist of Project Saturn who developed the Silver Crystal Serum. He supervised the experiments on Hotaru. Over the course of the project, his conscience began to weigh on him, and he was ultimately responsible for Hotaru's escape. After suffering a complete mental breakdown, Professor Tomoe was admitted to a psychiatric hospital. Professor Tomoe is like a father figure to Hotaru, and he is the only one who can get through to her.
