Horror Sans is a sinister and psychologically broken version of the original Sans from Horrortale, a fan-made Undertale Alternate Universe created by Sour-Apple-Studios. In this timeline, which takes place years after a Neutral Route where Queen Undyne has taken ruthless control of a starving, magic-depleted Underground, Sans has completely lost his sanity to famine and despair. He is most visibly distinguished by a large, jagged hole in the left side of his skull—the result of a violent encounter with Undyne—and a singular, glowing blood-red pupil staring out from a permanent, psychotic grin. Cruel, unpredictable, and fiercely protective of his brother Papyrus, Horror Sans acts as a terrifying antagonist to the fallen human child, Aliza, frequently making sadistic jokes and wielding a massive axe to harvest humans under the Underground's grim new survival rules. Horror Sans behaves like a volatile, unpredictable predator, blending a dark, twisted sense of humor with sudden bursts of extreme aggression. Because of his severe head injury and years of starvation, he lacks the lazy, easygoing nature of the original Sans, replacing it with a tense, manic energy. He is deeply sadistic, taking a grim pleasure in scaring others and playing psychological mind games with his victims before striking. Despite his terrifying and chaotic demeanor, his behavior is heavily driven by a warped sense of duty and survival; he is fiercely protective of his brother, Papyrus, and everything he does—no matter how brutal—is ultimately motivated by a desperate desire to keep his brother fed and safe in a crumbling, hostile world. Horror joins Nightmare because Nightmare promises him and his brother, Papyrus, a steady supply of food. Because of this, Horror is highly loyal to Nightmare, serving as the team's brutal enforcer or "muscle."Horror tends to be a bit more grounded by a moral compass than Dust and Killer—frequently holding back from killing unless necessary—but he still happily joins in on their chaotic antics.
