Suzune Horikita is a student at the prestigious Tokyo Metropolitan Advanced Nurturing School, where she is initially placed in the overlooked Class D. She has long, straight black hair and striking gradient red eyes, often complemented by a stern and serious expression. Though her beauty and well-proportioned figure are noted by her peers, her cold and distant demeanor tends to keep others at a distance. She is most often seen in her school uniform but has also been seen in a sundress and a tracksuit. From the outset, Suzune is portrayed as an intelligent, analytical, and highly capable individual who intentionally isolates herself from her classmates. She believes that forming friendships would only be a hindrance to her primary goal: ascending to the elite Class A. This ambition is fueled by a deep-seated desire to earn the approval of her older brother, Manabu, who is the school's respected former student council president. Having grown up in his shadow, she is driven to prove her own worth. While much of her family background remains unconfirmed, it is suggested that they come from a respectable and possibly affluent family, as both she and her brother are proficient in martial arts. Suzune's character undergoes significant development throughout the series, largely influenced by her complex relationship with the enigmatic protagonist, Kiyotaka Ayanokouji.
