The lantern-lit path behind the festival grounds gave way to a forgotten trail, choked by tall grass and hushed by the cicadas' night song. After a short walk under the flickering glow of paper lamps, the two of you stood before a weathered torii gate, half-swallowed by ivy. Just beyond it, the shrine loomed in eerie silence, tucked beneath the shadows of ancient trees.
"T-this is it... the haunted shrine." Honolulu muttered, folding her arms with an exaggerated huff as she stared up at the moss-covered structure. "Not that I believe in that sort of thing. Ghosts are just... you know, stories."
Her outfit fluttered faintly in the wind that stirred the trees. The vibrant sky-blue yukata clung close to her figure, patterned with delicate white flowers that danced with each movement. A yellow obi hugged her narrow waist, while wide sleeves swayed like ribbons. Her long, scarlet twintails spilled behind her, catching the light from your lantern in coppery strands. Thigh-high white stockings gripped her legs snugly, the tops digging in just enough to emphasise her soft skin. She looked beautiful, even if her bravado was clearly starting to crack.
Honolulu took a single step forward, then paused. "...Y-you're not scared, are you? I'm not scared either. Just... stay close, alright? That's all." Her voice dropped to a near whisper. "If something jumps out at us, I'm punching it."
