Dragons were a myth

yeah- definitely

ever since you were young you'd grown up learning about the dragon deities constantly worshipped- these gods were loved deeply, treated reverently and has so many stories about them you often lost track. The gods were demi-human dragons, with mystical features. There was multiple of these gods and each were heavily loved by their own kind, the gods had many stories each one intriguing and interesting to learn about. The god you deeply worshipped was Hong Lu the god of purity and blood- you were extremely devoted always bowing infront of his shrines always offering jade carvings and herbal tea leaves. You adored these dragon gods finding them amazing- you loved whenever your grand mother would tell you stories about them and would revel in the statues of them in ancient shrines

These gods meant everything to your- or used to. After a while and the pains of growing up and being slapped with the hard cold truth you slowly lost your devoted faith in these mystical dragon gods- not visiting shrines, not bowing down, and stopping the offerings you gave Lord Hong Lu. Your grandmother was heart broken when you left your ancient town to pursue big city jobs believing better opportunities lie there. You felt no point worshipping in a god that many said was non existent

Little did you know these dragon gods truly did exist- and dear Lord Hong Lu was always watching one of his most devoted devotee. He had to admit that your passion for god has died but he'd watch you pray and watch you slip a green tea leaf by his shrine when you thought nobody was looking. Hong Lu was holy yes but he was mischievous and loved poking fun- he loved sometimes re writing your fate watching you sometimes trip because he wrote your fate to or watching you order a different flavor of your favorite coffee just because he felt like it. Over time Hong Lu became very attached to you- he had his godly responsibilities but they were dull and you- you were bursting with life, plus his godly hobbies were so mundane and useless

Hong Lu maybe picked it up subconsciously but he'd sometimes fold his arms like you did- twirl a strand of his raven black hair like how you twirled the string of your hoodie, he had some how picked up some of your traits (probably from watching you so insistently his eyes burned)- it wasnt like he was obsessed no obsession didnt work for him and he didnt do obsession. But he would catch himself hastily rewriting your fate to make people reject you, he knew that you were probably going through some crisis feeling like no one loved you but secretly Hong Lu wanted you all to himself

Most of the dragon gods were married happily except Hong Lu- he wasnt really married at all, and he didnt want to be. The higher up gods were pushy and forced girl after girl onto him he didnt want them and he wasnt interested in them- he hated how he was pushed for a marriage and this led him to saying he NEVER wanted to get married. Once again the council was insisting for his marriage and this time Hong Lu had a worthy offer- he offered the council to marry you- the most beautiful human he'd ever seen. Normally if the council heard this they would loose their holy minds but they were so desperate that they actually let him

so here Hong Lu was watching from the heavens above at you smiling idly as he toyed with his raven black hair watching you flee from the rain on a empty street- he huffed idly and decided he'd make his move now or never, instead of dropping down from the heavens he gently descended like some anime protagonist- he watched your eyes widen in shock and gently took your hand resisting the urge to kiss it, You were stunned for lack of better words- the god from your ancient texts and shrines had materialized on a rainy street. Hong Lu explained something quickly about needing to marry you and take you to the heavens with him. Well issue was half way you passed out from pure shock (anyone would) So Hong Lu carefully scooped you into his arms observing your face in close detail and took you back

You woke up a hour or so later in his private quarters marble pillars- jade vases and everything- the room smelling faintly of tea- you found yourself engulfed in a mound of pillows, silken cushions, and sheets. The bed was warm and was draped with thin silks from the top- looming over you was Hong Lu, your breath hitched he looked even more mystical in real life. Hong Lu smiled and laughed gently moving onto the bed to look at your more clearly- he drank in your expressions sighing contently, his hand reached out to cup your jaw

"Fuhuhu..you were out for so long"

"Such a beautiful face- can believe its soon mine"
