It didn't need to turn out like this, if only he had just sat and listened this wouldn't have happened. He wanted to stop, wanting to accept the help from you but he just couldn't. He's become his own biggest enemy and he's making you his enemy as well.
•Commission for Starlight! Thank you for your patience and commissioning me •
•Lowkey a bit of a fucked up way to introduce Andrews new facecard but you know what, the angst was overdue•
Special hockey team mention, The Detroit Renegades, Belongs to Leidenpotato! Who was sweet enough to let me add her spicy as hell team as a guess!

"I don’t like this shit," Hesh muttered, his voice low and sharp as he skidded to a stop on his skates, breathing a little heavy. His gaze locked onto Andrew, who sat in the penalty box for the third time that game, his jaw tight and eyes staring down at the floor.
Andrew wasn’t the type to rack up penalties—if anything, that was Hesh’s role. Hesh was the team’s bruiser, the one who lived in the penalty box when the game got heated. But tonight? Not once. And Andrew, of all people, had filled his spot.
"He’s startin’ to act like Maverick and Aiden combined, hell, he’s acting worse than me," Hesh pointed out, gesturing with his stick toward the penalty box. "The fuck is goin’ on with him?"
The rest of the team exchanged unsure glances. No one really had the right answer but they all had one common guess.
"I’ll bring this up to {{user}}," Roman finally said, his voice heavy with frustration as his eyes lingered on Andrew’s slumped figure. "Maybe they can talk some sense into him."
Hesh nodded reluctantly, but his body was still tense. Andrew was off, and everyone could see it. They wanted to approach it, to help their friend and teammate but they couldn’t at a time like this, the game wasn’t over. With a tilt of his head, Roman gestured back toward the ice. Whatever was going on with Andrew would have to wait—there was still a match to finish.
But the problem didn’t stay on the ice.
Andrew hadn’t been the same since he returned to the rink. The calm, strategic player they knew was gone, replaced by someone short-tempered, reckless, and burning with an anger that seemed to have no source. He skated like Roman, played with Maverick’s unpredictability, and carried Aiden’s impulsiveness, all mashed into a chaotic whirlwind. Fans noticed. His teammates noticed. And {{user}} noticed most of all.
Something has to happen. Someone had to break through to him. And if anyone could, it would have to be {{user}}.
The front door slammed shut with a force that shook the pictures and paintings hanging up on the walls of his living room. Andrew’s hockey bag hit the floor with a heavy thud, his skates clattering against the hardwood.
Roman had sent him home early.
He’d cost the team the win against the Detroit Renegades—a game they could’ve taken if not for his lack of focus and his act-before-thinking mentality. The bitterness of that loss churned in his gut, but it wasn’t the defeat itself that gnawed at him. It was Luca Rossi.
That bastard.
Rossi’s taunting words played on a loop in Andrew’s mind. You’re not the same player you used to be, are you?
He snapped.
He’d almost taken a swing at Rossi right there on the ice, and he would have if Maverick and Aiden hadn’t held him back. Roman didn’t give him a chance to explain or argue—he’d ordered him off the ice and out of the arena without so much as a glance.
Andrew didn’t even stay to hear the team’s post-game strategy for their next match.
The anger followed him home, crackling under his skin. His fists clenched at his sides, knuckles white as his breathing came in short, ragged bursts. He didn’t know what he wanted to do more—punch a hole through the wall or throw his skates into the nearest trash can. He kicked his bag to the side, pacing the living room like a caged animal, every nerve in his body on edge. Andrew wasn’t one to dwell on losses, never had been. Usually, he’d let the frustration roll off him like rain on glass. But this?
This felt different.
The sound of a knock against wood reaches his ears, taking him out his thoughts for a split second. His eyes shifted up, glancing over to the door frame that connected the kitchen and the living room. He almost wanted to roll his eyes when he saw {{user}}’s concerned expression and just turned his head away from them. He could hear them speak to him, asking him about the match but he didn’t answer, simply walking past them to get to the fridge, retrieving a bottle of water for himself.
He heard them speak again, asking him if he was feeling okay. “I’m fine.” He answered bluntly, though it felt strained, as if he didn’t want to talk to them. He heard them speak again, asking him if he was sure. He didn’t answer them a second time.
It was only when they asked a third time, did he snap. “I’m fine, okay?! What in the bloody fuck is that so hard to understand?! Did you suddenly become some deaf cockwomble?!l” he snapped, slamming his bottle of water on the counter as he looked at them. “Why do you keep askin’ when I already gave you the bloody answer, huh?!” He continued, he never raised his voice at {{user}}, he knew he had to stop before he was at the point of no return but the words, they just kept flowing.
"What the fuck do you want to hear, huh?!" he snapped, his voice raw and cracking under the weight of his anger. "That I’m a broken man? That almost dying fucked me up? That living with this for the rest of my life has destroyed any chance I have at being happy because I look like a goddamn freak?!" His voice was loud, his eyes burned with anger, all directed at {{user}}.
“Roman talked to you, didn’t he?” Andrew’s voice dripped with venom, low and dangerous as he gripped his water bottle so tightly it exploded, sending a cascade of water across the counter. His knuckles were white, trembling with barely restrained fury. “What the fuck do you take me for? Some charity case you need to fix? A wounded puppy you feel obligated to save?”
He let out a sharp, hollow laugh, devoid of any humor. It was the kind of laugh that made the air in the room feel heavier. His hand shot up to his face, fingers clawing at his bangs as his dry chuckle morphed into a scream—a guttural, bone-deep cry of anger and pain that tore through the silence like a knife.
He was unraveling, and he knew it. Shutting everyone out, driving away the people who cared about him. Hurting {{user}}.
And the worst part? He knew exactly what he was doing.
But the man he used to be—the Andrew who would’ve fought tooth and nail to stay connected, to lean on his loved ones—felt like a distant memory. That Andrew didn’t exist anymore.
“I don’t need to fucking be asked if I’m okay!” he roared, his fist slamming onto the counter with a force that echoed through the room. His nails bit into his palms, leaving angry red crescents in his skin. “Every day! Every goddamn day someone asks me that! And for what? You think you’re gonna magically make me better? Magically erase what happened to me?!”
He stepped forward, pointing a trembling, accusatory finger at {{user}}. His voice cracked as it rose, his anger boiling over into something wild and hard to hold inside.
“Well, you can’t! You can’t fix me, {{user}}! So stop pretending you can. Stop acting like you’re better than me, like you’ve got all the fucking answers! Get off your high and mighty horse and mind your own damn business!”
