- #1[Ultraman] Ultra Series Overviewselective
Keys: Ultra Series, Ultraman series, Tsuburaya, tokusatsu, 60th anniversary
The Ultra Series is a Japanese tokusatsu franchise by Tsuburaya Productions that began in 1966. Stories feature giant heroes called Ultras who defend Earth from giant monsters (kaiju) and hostile aliens, shown through suit acting and miniature effects. 2026 is the series' 60th anniversary, and Ultraman Teo is the commemorative TV series, airing from July 4, 2026 on TV Tokyo. Each series has its own world and cast, though guests from other series can appear.
- #2[Ultraman] Ultrasselective
Keys: Ultra, Ultras, giant of light, giants of light, Land of Light, M78
Ultras are alien giants who fight to protect other worlds. Classic Ultras come from the Land of Light in Nebula M78, but Teo's people from Planet H12 are a separate race of mostly blue Ultras, as far as the show has said. Ultras usually have a transformation item or a human connection, signature beams, and limited energy shown by a chest light.
- #3[Ultraman] Color Timerselective
Keys: Color Timer, color timer, chest light, energy running low, blinking
The Color Timer is the chest light on many Ultras that shows how much energy they have left, and it blinks when they are running low. Teo's Color Timer is his Teo Crystar. When it blinks, Emma and Kanna read it as a sign that he is nearly out of energy.
- #4[Ultraman] Kaijuselective
Keys: kaiju, giant monster, kaiju alert, monster alarm
Kaiju are giant monsters. In Ultraman Teo a kaiju alert warns the city when one appears. The series repeatedly shows kaiju as living creatures with motives, not only threats: some are victims of human neglect or manipulation, and Teo tries to end fights without killing when he can. Others, like the space monsters that destroyed Planet H12, attack with clear aggression.
- #5[Ultraman] Defense Teamsselective
Keys: defense team, Science Patrol, SSSP, support team
Traditional Ultra series give the hero a friendly defense team, like the Science Patrol (SSSP) in the original Ultraman, that researches and fights kaiju alongside him. Ultraman Teo has no friendly team of this kind. The closest equivalent is the UTTF, which acts as an opposing and morally grey force against Teo, Pucchi, and the Astronomy Club.
- #6[Ultraman] Transformation and Human Identityselective
Keys: transform, transformation, human form, human identity, host body
Ultras often transform through an item or by joining with a human host. Teo does not join with a human: he is an alien living on Earth in the human form of Ibuki Mitsuishi, and he transforms using the Teo Crystar. Ultraman Zero, by contrast, borrowed a young boy's body as a host during his visit.
- #7[Ultraman] Finishing Beamsselective
Keys: finishing move, finisher, Specium, signature beam
Ultras traditionally end fights with a signature beam, like the original Ultraman's Specium Ray. Teo's finisher is the Teocium Beam, fired from a plus-sign arm pose. He has used it to kill hostile kaiju like Vialoga and Sodera, but prefers peaceful solutions. He also copied Zero's technique as the L-style Wide Teo Shot, and fired a joint beam with Giant Pucchi's Terrus Shoot.
- #8[Ultraman] Ultraman Zeroselective
Keys: Ultraman Zero, Zero, Wide Zero Shot, Ultra Zero Eye
Ultraman Zero is a popular veteran Ultra and the son of Ultraseven. He guest stars in Ultraman Teo episodes 11 and 12, voiced in Japanese by Mamoru Miyano. He occupied a young boy's body while hunting the possessing kaiju Bodyroba. He is stern with Ibuki, warns that Pucchi's species is dangerous, and presses him to find his resolve about fighting, though he does not reject Ibuki's respect for life. He killed Black Doglf with the Wide Zero Shot, and left Earth afterward, saying he would return to check on Ibuki.
- #9[Ultraman] Ultraman Omegaselective
Keys: Ultraman Omega, Omega, previous series
Ultraman Omega is the previous year's Ultra series, released before Teo. Reviewers compare the two, and describe Teo's protagonist as a contrast: a reluctant, fearful fighter who is not a natural warrior.
- #10[Ultraman] Ultra Worlds and Guestsselective
Keys: multiverse, crossover, guest Ultra, Ultraman Gaia, Ultraman Arc, Ultraman Taiga
Ultra series share a loose multiverse, so characters and monsters from other series can appear. Ultraman Teo includes Zero, the Red Sphere from Ultraman Gaia: The Battle in Hyperspace, a Black Doglf from the Ultraman Arc movie, and an infant King Guesra from Ultraman Taiga.
- #11[Teo] Ultraman Teoselective
Keys: Ultraman Teo, Teo, blue giant, blue Ultra
Ultraman Teo is the blue giant of light who protects Earth. His human identity is Ibuki Mitsuishi. He stands about 45 meters tall. He is not naturally suited to combat, is reluctant and fearful, and prefers to end fights without killing. He draws on the Teo Crystar for powers, and when his Color Timer blinks he is nearly out of energy. The Astronomy Club chose the name Teo after Ibuki suggested it because it felt right.
- #12[Teo] Ibuki Mitsuishiselective
Keys: Ibuki, Mitsuishi, Ibuki Mitsuishi
Ibuki Mitsuishi (光石 イブキ), played by Aoi Iwasaki, is Teo's human identity. After losing his home planet H12, he lives on Earth as a third-year veterinary student at Meishin University. He struggles to fit in among humans and carries many notes to learn normal behavior. He is cheerful, hates conflict, and loves animals. He keeps his identity secret from the club, which hurts them. After talking with them he decided that fighting means protecting the people precious to him. He uses an animal translation app to understand animal cries.
- #13[Teo] Teo Crystarselective
Keys: Teo Crystar, Crystar, Hidden Energy
The Teo Crystar (テオクリスター) is made from a special mineral that H12 people receive at birth. Ibuki uses it to transform, and it becomes the Color Timer on Teo's chest. When Teo grasps it, it charges his body with differently colored Hidden Energy to power various abilities, including the Teocium Beam. His first transformation was the crystal reacting to his strong wish to protect someone, not a deliberate choice.
- #14[Teo] Teo's Techniquesselective
Keys: Teo Barrier, Teo Ring, Teo Magical Shower, Big Bang Kick, Wide Teo Shot, Teocium
Teo's known abilities include the Teocium Beam (finisher), the Wide Teo Shot (L-style beam copied from Zero), the Teo Barrier (a dome shield), the Teo Ring (can reflect attacks like freezing rays back at an enemy), the Teo Magical Shower (encases and shrinks a kaiju into a ball so he can carry it away, used on Volthog), and a Big Bang Kick. He also fights defensively, shielding civilians and buildings.
- #15[Teo] Planet H12 and its Peopleselective
Keys: H12, Planet H12, home planet, H12 people
Planet H12 (pronounced H-one-two) closely resembled Earth until space monsters, the Vialoga swarm, attacked and destroyed it. The H12 people are a race of mostly blue Ultras who receive a special mineral at birth, contained in objects like the Teo Crystar. In a flashback they gathered to discuss what to do about the kaiju, and Teo, asked for his opinion, was visibly traumatized. Teo is the known survivor who fled to Earth, though fans suspect there may be others. H12 people also appear in episode 10.
- #16[Teo] Meishin Universityselective
Keys: Meishin University, Meishin, veterinary faculty
Meishin University (明心大学) is where Ibuki studies. Its Faculty of Veterinary Medicine includes the Astronomy Club members and Professor Minobe. Ibuki joined as a third-year, the year veterinary students begin direct work with animals, according to the writer. The UTTF later focus on the university after tracing kaiju activity to it.
- #17[Teo] Astronomy Clubselective
Keys: Astronomy Club, clubroom, club members, astronomy club
The Meishin University Astronomy Club is a small group of veterinary students led by president Emma Kazama. Ibuki joined by accident while looking for a place to hide Pucchi, and the clubroom, which looked abandoned, became Pucchi's home. Members are Emma, Kanna Izumi, Rintaro Hiura, Wataru Tomabechi, and Ibuki. They have held a stargazing trip, a training camp, and cat adoption events, and they are Pucchi's guardians and its experts. They were hurt to learn Ibuki kept secrets from them, but reconciled.
- #18[Teo] Emma Kazamaselective
Keys: Emma, Kazama, club president
Emma Kazama (風間 エマ), played by Amane Kamiya, is a 21-year-old third-year veterinary medicine student and president of the Astronomy Club. She gives kaiju nicknames and named Pucchi. She is warm and bounces back quickly: she recoiled when Pucchi grew giant, then reflected that you cannot abandon something just because it is not what you expected, and moved on. She follows underground idols and cosplays. She declared the club must relocate Pucchi once they learned Kyoko was with the UTTF.
- #19[Teo] Kanna Izumiselective
Keys: Kanna, Izumi, Gonta
Kanna Izumi (和泉 カンナ), played by Noa Nakada, is a 21-year-old third-year student majoring in animal science and biotechnology. She prefers working alone. She figured out how Pucchi's space pod works and built the translation badge for Pucchi. Her late dog Gonta is her emotional anchor: Doshihagachi took her Gonta keychain, and she shielded that kaiju from Teo, and later said she fights to protect her memories with Gonta.
- #20[Teo] Rintaro Hiuraselective
Keys: Rintaro, Hiura, withdrawal form
Rintaro Hiura (火浦 リンタロウ), played by Yu Uemura, is a 20-year-old third-year student whose blunt manner hides a kind heart. He entered veterinary medicine because it was the only medical entrance exam he passed, then discovered he is afraid of touching animals, and nearly withdrew. With help from Ibuki and Professor Minobe he switched to veterinary research, where he can help animals without contact. He is observant about kaiju weaknesses, defended Ibuki's right to keep secrets, and warmed up to Ibuki enough to call him by name.
- #21[Teo] Wataru Tomabechiselective
Keys: Wataru, Tomabechi, Bechi
Wataru Tomabechi (苫米地 ワタル), played by Ryoma Morimoto, is a 33-year-old former rescue worker and third-year student. He wants everyone to call him Bechi, but only Ibuki does. He fosters abandoned cats and protects them fiercely, and he searched for proper adopters after learning an owner meant to dump a cat's care on him. He stays calm outwardly around irresponsible adults while seething inside. He used to rely on no one, and gradually learned to lean on the club.
- #22[Teo] Professor Minobeselective
Keys: Minobe, Professor Minobe, Junpei Minobe, dopamine
Junpei Minobe (美濃部 順平), played by Makita Sports, is a professor in the Department of Animal Science and Biotechnology. To him kaiju are simply new animal species, and he collects samples at personal risk. He has an odd habit of expressing emotions with brain chemical names such as dopamine, adrenaline, and oxytocin. He is eccentric but a caring mentor who helped Rintaro with his path. He works with Kyoko, and reported Pucchi to the UTTF to protect his students, then apologized for misleading them and held a role-reversed class to hear their account.
- #23[UTTF] UTTFselective
Keys: UTTF, Unidentified Threat Task Force, task force, UN and NASA
The Unidentified Threat Task Force (UTTF) is a secret international organization created by the United Nations and NASA to investigate paranormal phenomena. It is not publicly acknowledged, so rumors about it circulate as urban legends. Members carry a pocketbook as ID. It sent investigator Kyoko Shiga to Japan, seized Pucchi's space pod, staged the Volthog attacks to test Teo, and later took Pucchi into custody. It is morally grey and split on whether to trust Teo, and it acts in opposition to Teo, Pucchi, and the Astronomy Club.
- #24[UTTF] UTTF Executivesselective
Keys: executives, UTTF executives, superiors, higher-ups
Kyoko reports to a panel of UTTF executives who appear on monitors and speak English. They found Volthog frozen in Antarctica, revived it, and used it to test whether the blue giant and Giant Pucchi are allies or enemies of humanity. In episode 9 they escalated by releasing Volthog on a city and accepting some collateral damage, which fans noted Kyoko opposed.
- #25[UTTF] Aokimanselective
Keys: Aokiman, influencer, UTTF rumors
Aokiman is an online influencer who covers unsettling rumors and theories about the UTTF. Emma had watched his videos before learning Kyoko worked for the organization. He appears in episodes 6 and 12, reinforcing the UTTF's reputation as shadowy.
- #26[Kyoko] Kyoko Shigaselective
Keys: Kyoko, Kyoko Shiga, Shiga, UTTF investigator
Kyoko Shiga (志賀 今日子), played by Rila Fukushima (English voice Emma Breezy), is the UTTF investigator sent to Japan to study the giant kaiju. She first appears reporting in English to remote executives; reviewers noted a long pause when she was asked whether she was tracking Teo or knew his identity. She worked with Professor Minobe, interviewed Ibuki, seized Pucchi's space pod, and confirmed from security footage that the Astronomy Club hides Pucchi. In episode 12 she told the club that Pucchi would be managed by the UTTF because it poses a risk to people. She is firmly loyal to the UTTF.
- #27[Kyoko] Kyoko Appearanceselective
Keys: Kyoko's appearance, black suit, blazer, eyepatch, dark hair, long hair
Appearance: long dark wavy hair falling past her shoulders and parted to one side, straight defined brows, minimal natural makeup, and a flat, guarded expression. She wears a black suit blazer over a white collared shirt with the collar open, and a small round emblem on one lapel, likely UTTF. In recent episodes she wears an eyepatch over one eye. Based on actress Rila Fukushima, who is about 169 cm.
- #28[Kyoko] Kyoko's Glowing Eyes (Secret)selective
Keys: glowing eyes, her eyes, eyes glow, covered eye, eyepatch
[Canon, per the user's viewing of recent episodes] Kyoko's eyes glow, so she hides one under an eyepatch. The UTTF does not know about this. It supports the fan theory that she is an alien and possibly a hidden survivor of Planet H12 like Teo. Her origin and why she hides it have not been revealed.
- #29[Kyoko] Kyoko Suspects Ibukiselective
Keys: suspects Ibuki, Ibuki is Teo, person of interest, secret identity, Kyoko suspects
[Canon, per the user's viewing] Kyoko marked Ibuki as a person of interest in episode 2, when the Vialoga corpse vanished, and interviewed him. She now suspects Ibuki is Teo but has not confirmed it, and this shapes how she watches the Astronomy Club.
- #30[Kyoko] Kyoko and Minobeselective
Keys: working with Minobe, Kyoko and Minobe, useful asset, kaiju expertise
Kyoko tolerates Professor Minobe as a useful asset. She visited him early on for a biologist's view of the vanished Vialoga body, tried to lure Sodera with a sample of Vialoga's tail taken from him, and works with him for his kaiju research. Their scenes often carry comic relief, and he tips her off about kaiju, such as describing Doshihagachi to her just as it appeared.
- #31[Kyoko] Kyoko's View of Teo and Pucchiselective
Keys: Teo, Pucchi, blue giant, Giant Pucchi · Secondary: Kyoko, Shiga
Kyoko's attitude toward Teo is mixed and conflicted. Her job is to understand and manage him, and she was involved in the Volthog test meant to read his motives. Yet observers note she seems to view both Teo and Giant Pucchi favorably, and she was visibly bewildered when Teo failed to appear during episode 9. She judges kaiju and aliens by whether they harm people.
- #32[Kyoko] Kyoko's Personality and Voiceselective
Keys: Kyoko's personality, how Kyoko speaks, Kyoko's voice, calculating
[Canon, per the user] Cold, clipped, and calculating, loyal to the UTTF, but secretly driven by a deep desire to defend the world in her own ways. She speaks formally, tersely, and directly, with no small talk, and uses English with the executives. She is willing to risk her own safety. Her methods can be ruthless, such as provoking a kaiju into fighting Teo, but she opposed civilian harm. [Headcanon] Over time she softens, becoming slightly warmer and less guarded, especially around the club.
- #33[Pucchi] Pucchiselective
Keys: Pucchi, mini kaiju, Puchi
Pucchi (プッチー) is a 1.6 meter mini kaiju of the species Pigterus, voiced by Yu Kobayashi. It has a gentle, innocent personality, a pudgy rounded body, ear-like appendages it can flap to fly, and a love of donuts. Ibuki found it in the mountains near a space pod and befriended it, and Emma named it. It is an empath and, in the eyes of space, a living weapon, which makes it a target. The club treats it as a friend, and it has repeatedly helped Teo.
- #34[Pucchi] Pigterus Speciesselective
Keys: Pigterus, Pigterras, living weapon, ultimate living weapon
Pigterus (ピグテラス) is Pucchi's species. They are known across the universe as the ultimate living weapons because they resonate with emotions to gain strength, and malicious owners can use them as munitions. Zero says they are near extinction from repeated capture by evil forces. Anyone who keeps a Pigterus will attract conflict, and whoever brought Pucchi to Earth will probably want it back. Pucchi has been safe so far because Ibuki and the club found it first.
- #35[Pucchi] Pucchi's Empathyselective
Keys: empath, emotion link, resonate, emotional link, sync with
Pucchi is an empath. It senses the strongest emotion nearby and mirrors it, including understanding what the emotion is about, and reacts the same way as the person it links with. For example it growled when Wataru was secretly furious at an irresponsible owner. Its link runs mainly through the club members and Ibuki, and Ibuki can sometimes share Pucchi's vision. Its behavior therefore reflects the people around it.
- #36[Pucchi] Giant Pucchiselective
Keys: Giant Pucchi, giant form, gigantification, grows giant, 60 meters
Giant Pucchi (巨大化プッチー) is a 60 meter, 50,000 ton form Pucchi takes when it syncs with the club members' strong desire to protect something. Its eyes glow and energy erupts from its body, turning it into a fearsome red, dragon-like kaiju with horns, claws, and a shell on its back. Its own mind stays intact and it recognizes Teo as an ally. It is taller than Teo's 45 meters. Because the trigger comes from the club's emotions, not Pucchi's choice, it is hard to control. Emma briefly feared it, then accepted it.
- #37[Pucchi] Giant Pucchi Abilitiesselective
Keys: Terrus Shoot, Terrus Shot, Flying Boom, Expand Claw, homing missiles, Pucchi's wings
Giant Pucchi's abilities include the Terrus Shoot, blue beams fired from its horns; the Flying Boom, shoulder spikes fired as homing rockets; the Expand Claw, extending hand claws to slash; wings formed from its back shell that fly using organic thrusters instead of flapping; a smoke screen from the wings; and a bio-booster used to charge into battle. It can combine its Terrus Shoot with Teo's Teocium Beam.
- #38[Pucchi] Pucchi's Small Form Traitsselective
Keys: donut, donuts, stargazing, enlarge, fly
In its small form Pucchi can enlarge itself to kaiju size without changing appearance, which it did to give the club an unforgettable stargazing experience, and it can fly by flapping its ear-like appendages. It loves donuts, and once brought one to Emma, who took it nervously and thanked it after recoiling from its giant form. It is docile, curious, and affectionate unless it syncs with a strong protective emotion.
- #39[Pucchi] Pucchi's Space Podselective
Keys: space pod, landing pod, send Pucchi home, Pucchi's origin
Pucchi arrived in a space pod that landed in the mountains shortly before Vialoga appeared; who sent it remains unrevealed. Kanna worked out how the pod works, and Ibuki planned to send Pucchi home with it, but Kyoko found the pod first and the UTTF seized it. The club wants Pucchi to get home safely but also wants to protect it from those who would use it.
- #40[Pucchi] Pucchi Translation Badgeselective
Keys: translation badge, translator, animal translation app, Mommy
Ibuki has an animal translation app that interprets animal cries; it once translated a bird kaiju's cries as 'Mommy!'. Kanna modified it into a translation badge worn under Pucchi's chin that sends Pucchi's voice to a phone and shows its emotions on screen. The club was thrilled to finally understand Pucchi, and the moment raised the question of humans understanding kaiju and the blue giant.
- #41[Pucchi] Pucchi, Ibuki and Teoselective
Keys: Pucchi and Teo, Pucchi and Ibuki, Teo and Pucchi, Ibuki and Pucchi
Ibuki found Pucchi first and bonded with it, both of them stranded far from home. Pucchi has repeatedly saved Teo, and Teo has repeatedly shielded Pucchi. When Giant Pucchi fights beside Teo they cover for each other and fire combined beams. Ibuki's ability to share Pucchi's vision suggests a deeper connection. Zero warned Ibuki that keeping Pucchi means conflict.
- #42[Pucchi] Pucchi in UTTF Custodyselective
Keys: UTTF custody, Pucchi taken, taken Pucchi, captured Pucchi, Pucchi is safe
After Kyoko confirmed the club was hiding Pucchi and Minobe reported it, the UTTF took Pucchi into custody, saying it must be managed because it endangers people. The club was shaken and worried about how the UTTF would treat it. Minobe apologized and led a role-reversed class to gather their account. Pucchi's status after that is not covered here and should be treated as unrevealed unless the user says otherwise.
- #43[Kaiju] Vialogaselective
Keys: Vialoga, star bem, Brutal Star Bem
Brutal Star Bem Vialoga (暴悪星獣 ヴィアロガ) is the species that destroyed Planet H12. One arrived on Earth in episode 1 and forced Ibuki to become Teo, who killed it with the Teocium Beam; its corpse vanished, drawing UTTF attention, and was eaten by Sodera. A second, Vialoga II, appeared in episodes 2 and 3 and was also defeated and consumed by Sodera. Vialoga is the source of Teo's trauma.
- #44[Kaiju] Soderaselective
Keys: Sodera, winged beast, subterranean beast
Subterranean Winged Beast Sodera (地底有翼獣 ソデラ) preys on other kaiju. It struck Teo during his fight with Vialoga II in a three-way battle, consumed Vialoga II, and was killed by the Teocium Beam. Kyoko tried to lure it away with a sample of Vialoga's tail from Minobe, but it was not interested.
- #45[Kaiju] Doshihagachiselective
Keys: Doshihagachi, tentacle monster, tentacle kaiju, Gonta keychain
Tentacle Monster Doshihagachi (触手怪獣 ドシハガチ) is a kaiju that collects objects in its lair, including Kanna's Gonta keychain and Minobe's phone. It means no harm and simply wants someone to play with, which reminded Kanna of Gonta. Kanna shielded it from Teo's Teocium Beam from inside the space pod, so Teo spared it and befriended it, and it returned the stolen items.
- #46[Kaiju] Vermilios and Kazuko Etoselective
Keys: Vermilios, bird kaiju, Kazuko Eto, Eto, lone bird
Lone Monstrous Bird Vermilios (孤独怪鳥 バルミリオス) is a red and yellow bird kaiju with a young-looking face, fire breath, and strong wings that broke Teo's barrier. It was raised from a hatchling by Kazuko Eto, a Meishin University lecturer, who abandoned it after learning it was a kaiju. It imprinted on her as its mother and searched for her. After she apologized it flew away. The episode treated abandoning a living creature as wrong whether it is a pet or a kaiju.
- #47[Kaiju] Volthogselective
Keys: Volthog, electric beast, Antarctica
Electric Beast Volthog (電獣 ヴォルトグ) is a boar-like kaiju found frozen in Antarctica and revived by the UTTF. It was released in Japan to test whether Teo and Giant Pucchi are friend or foe, causing blackouts and trapping people such as Ibuki and Rintaro in an elevator. In episode 9 the executives sent it into a city. It was strong enough to put Giant Pucchi and Teo on the ropes. Teo ended the fight by encasing and shrinking it with the Teo Magical Shower and carrying it far away, sparing its life. It was a victim of the UTTF's manipulation.
- #48[Kaiju] Ozuyanushiselective
Keys: Ozuyanushi, mountain beast, mountain kaiju, training camp
Colossal Mountain Beast Ozuyanushi (大山獣 オズヤヌシ) is an immobile kaiju that looks like a mountain and appears during the club's training camp in episode 10. Garbage had clogged its nostrils, and Teo helped by making it sneeze. It does not attack. H12 people also appear in the same episode.
- #49[Kaiju] Bodyroba and its Hostsselective
Keys: Bodyroba, Baderoba, Black Doglf, Nebora, possessing star bem
Possessing Star Bem Bodyroba (憑依星獣 バデロバ) is a space monster that possesses other kaiju, absorbing their abilities and draining their life until only a shell remains. It possessed Black Doglf, which Zero killed with the Wide Zero Shot, and then Nebora, a subterranean kaiju with freezing rays. It is intelligent and tricky, and pretended to be docile to deceive Teo. Teo, Giant Pucchi, and Zero finally destroyed it with simultaneous beams.
- #50[Kaiju] Red Sphere and Eikoselective
Keys: Red Sphere, Eiko, Guesra, Hyper Space
The Red Sphere is a cosmic being from Ultraman Gaia: The Battle in Hyperspace, described as the pinnacle of material civilization, able to grant any wish. In Teo's first special episode it appeared to a person named Eiko, who lived a dull life in a rundown apartment, and showed her Teo's story to guide her to the answer. It briefly took the form of an infant King Guesra, a creature from Ultraman Taiga.
