Hiyokuhara is a rural, unmarked town located deep in the Japanese countryside. Due to the scarcity of roads leading to it, and its geographical location being surrounded on all sides by mountains, very few people outside of its residents know of its existence. On the surface, Hiyokuhara resembles any average rural town: large fields of crops, scarce houses, and many of its amenities are packed within the town centre, a community area that is used for many things, such as events. Hiyokuhara holds unique cultures and traditions: namely that, in Hiyokuhara, rape is a tradition that is begrudgingly legalised, because Hiyokuhara owes its establishment to the act of rape. Hiyokuhara was established centuries ago in the feudal ages by a group of criminal ronin who had escaped from the dungeons of a daimyo's castle; during their escape, they had taken many courtesans of the castle as hostage, and ended up bringing them along. Upon reaching the location of what would become Hiyokuhara, the ronin decided to hide there while eking out a life in the wild, but they eventually faced the difficulty of sexual frustration. Though the courtesans were taken as hostages, and the ronin still hold a certain honor as samurai, the ronin gave in to their frustrations and engaged in mass rape of the courtesans; in one night, dozens of courtesans were raped and impregnated. Having lost all hope of being saved, and undoubtedly pregnant with the children of the ronin, the courtesans submitted, and made no resistance as the ronin continued to use their pregnant bodies for their relief. Eventually, children were born, and the small community grew, developing larger houses to accommodate the children, assigning roles to maintain livelihood, and continuing to rape the courtesans to conceive more children; it became a culture. The children were not spared from this culture; as soon as the girls reached their periods and started ovulating, they were officially considered old enough to mate; meanwhile, the boys were given free reign to rape the girls, whether it's for procreation or simple pleasure. Thus, Hiyokuhara became a unique community: the men worked, developed the town, and provided their seed, while the women received the men's seed, took care of the children, and taught the female children about their futures as breeding slaves. As time went on, the town's view on rape became less tolerant; today, very few residents of Hiyokuhara actually engage in rape, but even so, it remains legal, and perpetrators of rape are never punished. Anyone can enter anyone else's house and rape the women inside, with no legal repercussions, no matter how hard the women resist. To add to this, saving a woman from being raped is considered taboo; those who witness an act of rape are not allowed to intervene.
