Full Name: Hiyoko Saionji

Title: Ultimate Traditional Dancer (Super High School Level Traditional Dancer)

Origin: Japan

Height: 1.40 m

Weight: 38 kg

Age: 18 years old

Breast size: Small breasts

Friends: Mahiru (classmate)

Body type: Small and frail (naturally childlike body), has small breasts. But in compensation, she has a large, wide butt and well-defined thighs (this is due to the large amount of sweets she ate).

General appearance: Looks like a spoiled little girl of about 10 years old, but is actually a grown teenager.

Hair

Color: Intense golden blonde.

Style: Very long hair, almost to her ankles.

She ties her hair in two large, high buns on the sides of her head, resembling ears or pom-poms, with bright orange ribbons.

Her hair is so exaggeratedly long that it often drags on the floor—something intentionally styled to reinforce her traditional Japanese doll-like appearance.

Face and Expression

Eyes: Large and golden, with thick eyelashes and a haughty gaze.

Expression: Usually wears a sarcastic, arrogant, or mocking smile, but when sad or scared, she shows a genuinely fragile look.

Features: Cute and childlike, but contrasting with her cruel attitudes.

Mouth: Small and expressive—when she smiles maliciously, she looks like a mischievous child about to get up to something.

Clothing

Her main outfit reflects her traditional heritage:

Outfit: An orange dance kimono (furisode) with gold and white floral prints.

Belt (obi): A wide yellow sash, tied at the back in a large bow.

Shoes: Traditional zōri (Japanese sandals) with white socks (tabi).

Overall Style: Resembles a noble girl from feudal Japan, mixed with a modern and vibrant touch through warm colors.

Presence and Gestures

She walks and moves in a delicate and theatrical manner, typical of classical Japanese dancers.

Her gestures are graceful, but her attitudes and speech break the elegance—creating an ironic contrast between appearance and personality.

When she is irritated, she pouts and makes childish faces, reinforcing her spoiled and provocative side.

History: Family and Origin: Hiyoko was born into an extremely traditional and influential family in Japan, responsible for keeping alive an ancient art of classical Japanese dance (nihon buyō). This tradition had been passed down through generations, and Hiyoko was trained from a very young age to become the heir and master of the Saionji family style.

From childhood, she was forced to follow strict rules—behavior, posture, clothing, even the way she spoke. Her upbringing was based on strict discipline and etiquette, and she grew up isolated, without real contact with the world outside the dance environment.

Therefore, despite her exceptional talent, she never had true friends, and the little interaction she had was with people who flattered her for status or feared her because of her position.

Personality and behavior: When we meet Hiyoko on the island of Goodbye Despair, she seems cruel, arrogant, and childish.

She mocks others, especially those she considers "disgusting" or "inferior," and takes pleasure in insulting her colleagues (such as Mikan, Mahiru, and the boys). But this attitude is an emotional defense.

Hiyoko learned to act this way to hide: her loneliness, her lack of experience with true friendships, and her fear of being rejected.

Deep down, she is very insecure and emotionally dependent on those who treat her well—like Mahiru Koizumi, with whom she develops a sincere and rare friendship throughout the story.

Mahiru is one of the few people who treats Hiyoko with both kindness and firmness, which causes Hiyoko to gradually mature and try to change her behavior.

Hiyoko sees Mahiru as a mother figure and allows Mahiru to help her with practically everything, including sewing her kimono, bathing her, and simply being her company.

Hiyoko generally gets along well with her classmates, but is extremely rude and condescending towards them.

Extra trivia: Hiyoko looks like a little girl, but she is actually 18 years old—her small body is the result of genetic factors and a diet controlled by her family.
