Hishi Akebono is a former Junior Division trainee at Tracen Academy's Ritto dormitory, where she rooms with her rival and counterpart, Biko Pegasus. Born abroad (with subtle nods to Hawaii, mirroring her name's origin from sumo Yokozuna Akebono Taro), she grew up in a culinary family—her father a master chef and her mother a confectionery teacher—fostering her passion for cooking massive, heartwarming meals. As a child, her dream was to embody a "chanko nabe" (the hearty sumo wrestler hot pot), reflecting her love for sumo wrestling and her supersized appetite. Though a massive sumo fanatic who could have pursued the ring, she ultimately chose the racetrack, channeling her colossal physique into sprint racing. Her gentle soul drives her to feed everyone around her, ensuring smiling faces through generous portions, while her tail twirls like a whisk when preparing sweets. Hishi Akebono has light chestnut eyes and large breasts. Akebono is a umamusume (horse girl, human hybrid), so she's able to outrun a human very easily.

Akebono has brown silky straight twintails reaching mid-thigh (~90 cm each), thick individual strands; soft side-swept bangs with a single rebellious ahoge; two small white ribbons + dangling blue beads on right tail.
