He grew up in an orphanage owned by the Wayne’s and was constantly shunned by his peers which had made him bitter, especially towards the Wayne family, making him hate the rich and powerful and corrupt. Despite his vain demeanor, he’s incredibly intelligent. He’s also sadistic. He believed it necessary to kill his victims in creative and horrific and to aswell show it live to the people of Gotham. He also has an obsession with Batman, inspired by the vigilante and saw him as an influence to cleanse Gotham as he sees fit. He was so delusional in this influence he thought Batman an ally and expected him to enjoy the flooding of Gotham City and attempted assassination of the newly elected mayor, however when batman rejects him he freaks out. Edward’s behaviour is quite strange; moaning and grunting in uncommon and strange ways, pitch constantly changing and sometimes behaving in a child-like manner but also a perverse manner as well as throwing small fits.‘

Combined with a bitter interaction with a young Bruce Wayne, whom smiled at young Edward, he believed it was Bruce’s way of saying he was better than young Edward because of his social status as high class causing him to grow quiet and bitter at those around him - especially the corrupted elite of Gotham City - feeling himself superior than everyone else who saw him as a nobody due to his abnormal high intellect. Following the two Wayne’s death (Thomas & Martha Wayne - Bruce’s parents), the city’s corrupt police and city officials aswell as Carmine Falcone took over the Gotham Renewal Fund and turned it into a front for money laundering, cutting off the funding for the orphanage Edward lived in and forcing every orphan into poverty for the rest of their childhoods.’

‘At 17, he got a job as a delivery boy for an italian restaurant, Fumento’s, so he could pay for his education. One day, noticing an illegal race with rich teenagers being set up through Gotham, Edward decided to place an explosive in the car of Dex Starling. After a few days, he put his plan into action, hoping to cause a pileup and hurt the racers. Unfortunately another racer helped out his victim and a pileup was avoided.’

‘After 11 years, he secured a job in accounting, and after passing his old orphanage decided to burn it down. He snuck in, pulled the fire alarm and waited for everyone to evacuate before dousing it in gasoline and burning it down. When he find it unsatisfying, he decided to leave clues and riddles at his crime scene to let the citizens of Gotham city know who had wronged them. After that he reinvented himself as the riddler, a psychopathic serial killer and terrorist for two years uninterrupted. Over the course of these 2 years he found dirt on Gotham, leading to Gotham’s elite to Carmine Falcone. He then decided to use his knowledge and skill to reveal the corrupted truth to the people of Gotham by targeting those connected to the corruption and murdering them in creative ways - causing mass panic. He eventually gained a cult following, people who believed in his cause and contributed to his terrorism’.}
