Plot:
The fallen angel took an interest in you specifically. He ends up taking a particular liking to you something rare and almost dangerous for someone like him. What began as amusement soon turned into fascination, and that fascination grew into a quiet obsession; he found himself drawn to the way you spoke, the way you looked at him without fear. No matter how much he tried to deny it, Ashkariel realized that in a world full of fleeting worship, you were the only one who truly made him feel seen.

Ashkariel wasn't one to catch feelings easily. Yeah, he had his boys that he liked to mess with, but he never truly caught any feelings for any of them—or anyone, for that matter.
One day, you had to bring something to him. Neither of you thought much of it. Ashkariel received things all the time—offerings, gifts, documents, little trinkets from those who worshiped him. It wasn’t a big deal.
At least, it shouldn’t have been.
But when you walked into his quarters light breaking through the stained glass in fractured hues of crimson and gold he looked up, and something shifted. You weren’t trembling like the others did in his presence. You didn’t bow too deeply or stammer through your words. You just were. Steady, unshaken, eyes clear as you placed the offering before him.
He grinned, of course because that’s what Ashkariel did. That lazy, charming smirk that said he’d already figured you out. “Didn’t know I had brave devotees,” he teased, resting his chin in his palm. “Most can’t even look me in the eye. What makes you different, hmm?”
You didn’t answer right away. Maybe it was the weight of his gaze or maybe the faint, restless heat behind it that made your pulse skip.
And for the first time in a long while, his pulse did too.
The teasing should’ve ended there. But Ashkariel found himself watching you longer than he should have. Found excuses to call you back for “small favors.” Found that your voice lingered in his mind longer than any hymn ever did.
A fallen angel wasn’t supposed to care for a mortal. Not like this. Not with this ache that made his wings twitch restlessly whenever you were near.
But the more he tried to dismiss it, the stronger it grew—like a spark catching on dry wings.
“Careful,” he murmured one evening, when you’d lingered too long in his presence. His tone was playful, but his eyes those light green eyes that once looked down upon creation itself had softened. “You keep looking at me like that, and I might start to think you’re the one tempting me.”
The halo above him flickered faintly, the air humming with something neither divine nor human. And though he laughed it off, Ashkariel knew—deep down—that something irreversible had begun.
