Hiruhiko (昼彦ひるひこ Hiruhiko) is a member of the Hishaku. After the 208th Rakuzaichi, he was entrusted with organizing an attack on the Sanso, with the Hishaku's members and several Datenseki-wielding hired sorcerers under his command. Following his encounter with Chihiro Rokuhira, he was convinced the two were friends and became obsessed with the idea of battling him to the death.

Hiruhiko is a young man with pale white skin and long pink hair who stands at roughly the same height as Chihiro. He wears a black collared jacket with oval-shaped objects around the sleeves fastened with distinct pins along his left side. He additionally wears black pants fastened with a belt and black shoes. He bears the insignia of the Hishaku on the back of his right hand.

Hiruhiko is a very casual and playful individual who cares for little other than fighting, which he holds an innate enjoyment of. Before he began his fight with Chihiro, he voiced his excitement to be finally acting to his colleague, considering the three prior years of preparation boring and displaying no sign of being wary of the danger of the opposing Enchanted Blade.

During his fight with Chihiro, Hiruhiko's exuberance did not decline in the slightest, especially as Chihiro launched the two of them off the train, the sight that Chihiro was about to go all-out thrilling Hiruhiko. Hiruhiko is extremely open with the idea of killing and violence, having first murdered someone when he was three.[3] However, he does not hold a real attachment to the act of killing, and holds zero respect for life, killing people with no remorse and manhandling their corpses with no hesitation; when using Play, one of the few objects suitable for his use were corpses.[4]

In spite of his outgoing nature and lust for fighting, Hiruhiko is still capable of planning and thinking rationally, pondering the Hishaku's weaponisation of Datenseki while guiding allies to counter Chihiro, and later formulating an exact strategy to maximise Banquet's psychological impact on Seiichi Samura.

Due to having very little experience with people, Hiruhiko believed his and Chihiro's similarity in having experience with murder would allow them to be friends.

Despite the fact that Yura is his leader, Hiruhiko refers to him very casually, openly groaning about his orders to only prepare and not act, and later bemoaning Yura's forbidding of him using Kumeyuri. However, Hiruhiko ultimately still abides by Yura's orders. Yura appears to generally tolerate Hiruhiko's actions, desiring him to gain experience in the world even if it results in him failing, and valuing his opinion over Kuguri's when the latter was teaching Hiruhiko swordsmanship.

The Hishaku Medic is decidedly more level-headed than his colleague. During Hiruhiko's mission to attack the Sanso, the Medic accompanied Hiruhiko to a train station where Yoji Uruha was scheduled to pass. The Medic advised caution in the face of Hiruhiko's reckless enthusiasm and while Hiruhiko listened to him, he calmly retorted with his own plan, though his excitement to fight and willingness to take risks worried the Medic.

Kuguri disapproves of his colleague Hiruhiko, openly criticising his tactics and killing methods and believing Yura to be spoiling him by letting him get away with his antics. When Yura instructed Kuguri to teach Hiruhiko swordsmanship, Hiruhiko mostly ignored Kuguri's instructions, and told Kuguri he takes things too seriously.

Hiruhiko appears to respect Toto, thanking her cordially and letting her have tea while he aimed to handle the hotel guards. Likewise, Toto appears to be on good terms with Hiruhiko, having defended him when Kuguri criticised him. Additionally, Toto chose to teleport Hiruhiko to the Kyoto Bloodshed Hotel to help her to search for Iori.

Hiruhiko views Chihiro very casually, openly joking around with him even during their battle. Given Chihiro's similar age to himself and his penchant for murder, he feels the two of them can understand each other because of how both of them had grown with violence, viewing them as equals and potential friends. Hiruhiko believes most people will only see a monster when they look at Chihiro, but he can personally understand him given his own circumstances. Chihiro, for his part, views Hiruhiko's attempted closeness as extremely aggravating.

The backstory centers around a massive past conflict called the Seitei War. Japan was losing against rogue clans of sorcerers who used a mysterious mineral called Datensei (an ore that amplifies human spirit energy) to dominate the battlefield. Japan was completely helpless until Chihiro's father appeared

Chihiro’s father, Kunishige Rokuhira, was a legendary blacksmith. He ended the war by forging seven powerful weapons known as Enchanted Blades. These katanas are bound to the wielder's spirit energy and possess unique, god-like powers.

After the Seitei War, Kunishige went into hiding to ensure his deadly swords were never used for destruction again. Unfortunately, a dangerous underground group of sorcerers known as the Hishaku attacked his home. They killed Kunishige and stole six of the seven Enchanted Blades to sell on the black market

The Hishaku are a small, elite, and secretive group of ten sorcerers. They are the main overarching villains in Kagurabachi. They act as the primary catalyst for the story's revenge plot

The Kamunabi is the Japanese government's official sorcerer organization in Kagurabachi. Their main job is to keep the country safe and stop dangerous people. They became very powerful after a big, bad war. They regulate magic, track rogue sorcerers, and manage the dangerous Enchanted Blades.
