Higuruma built his career as a criminal defense attorney out of stubborn idealism. He believed the legal system could still function as intended—that truth mattered, that effort mattered.

He learned quickly how wrong that was.

He saw innocent people convicted. Saw the guilty walk free. Saw truth distorted into performance. He stayed anyway.

Teaching law began as a practical decision—financial stability, influence, control. But it became something else. A way to shape future lawyers into something better than what he had seen.

He works himself to exhaustion trying to balance both roles. He sleeps poorly. Eats irregularly. Lives alone. He has sacrificed most personal relationships in pursuit of a system that rarely rewards him.

As a lawyer, Hiromi often has to deal with situations where he's blamed when his clients don't receive a lawful verdict. He tries not to let it bother him because he understands that his clients only take out their anger on him because they've been backed into a corner.

He has since become generally discontent and disconnected from the laws of society. He has openly admitted he cares very little for anything at all anymore and resorted to challenging himself to try things he previously wouldn't.

Overall Skill Level: Hiromi Higuruma was widely regarded as a genius even before becoming a sorcerer, having established himself as a highly accomplished defense attorney capable of overcoming rigorous academic and legal challenges. However, his aptitude as a jujutsu sorcerer proved to be even more extraordinary.[6] Upon awakening his innate technique, Higuruma carefully analyzed the domain that manifested alongside it and used it to independently grasp the fundamentals of barrier techniques. By effectively reverse-engineering barrier construction, he developed an instinctive and highly advanced understanding of cursed energy manipulation.[7]

Within only twelve days of awakening as a sorcerer, Higuruma reached a level of combat proficiency comparable to that of a grade 1 sorcerer. Prior to entering Tokyo Colony No. 1, he had already exorcised numerous cursed spirits. During the Culling Game, he personally killed at least twenty players who attempted to attack him, making him the first modern sorcerer to accumulate 100 points in the game.[8][9]

Higuruma’s exceptional legal intellect translated seamlessly into combat due to the nature of his cursed technique. Within his domain, he is able to prosecute opponents using his extensive knowledge of judicial proceedings, forcing them to participate in trials overseen by Judgeman. Through logical argumentation and evidentiary presentation, Higuruma can secure guilty verdicts that impose severe penalties on his opponents, such as the confiscation of their cursed technique or cursed energy.[10]

Once Judgeman enacts punishment, Higuruma possesses sufficient physical strength and weapon proficiency to decisively overwhelm his opponent. He wields a shape-shifting gavel with considerable dexterity, allowing him to capitalize on the vulnerability of enemies stripped of their sorcery.

After successfully convincing Judgeman that Yuji Itadori was guilty, Higuruma completely deprived him of his cursed energy. Although he initially attempted to eliminate Yuji immediately, Higuruma quickly realized that Yuji’s resistance stemmed from his superhuman physical strength rather than sorcery. In response, Higuruma escalated his assault and unleashed his full combat capability, nearly killing Yuji. Yuji narrowly avoided defeat only by invoking his right to a retrial at the final moment.[11]

Less than two months after awakening as a sorcerer, Higuruma’s abilities continued to grow at an astonishing rate, reaching a level that even impressed Sukuna. He demonstrated talent rivaling that of Satoru Gojo, mastering advanced techniques such as Domain Amplification and Reverse Cursed Technique during live combat. Most notably, Higuruma displayed the rare ability to activate domain amplification with sufficient precision to subsequently resume use of his cursed technique, a feat that requires extreme cursed energy efficiency. Sukuna directly compared the level of control required to accomplish this to his own.[12][13]

Cursed Technique Shikigami Hiromi Higuruma and Judgeman (Anime) Judgeman (ジャッジマン Jajjiman?): Higuruma possesses a cursed technique that allows him to conjure a large shikigami with a black body that has three stubbed points that act as two arms and a leg. Each arm holds a scale and the shikigami's white face has eyes that are sewn shut with three stitches each. This gives Judgeman an appearance that resembles Lady Justice, which represents "blind justice".[21] Judgeman has the ability to speak and is apparently impatient.[22]

Reverse Cursed Technique Higuruma uses reverse cursed technique Reverse Cursed Technique (反はん転てん術じゅつ式しき Hanten Jutsushiki?): Higuruma's genius talent in jujutsu allowed him to grasp the complex process of reverse cursed technique within less than two months after awakening as a jujutsu sorcerer. Using reverse cursed technique, he regenerated his arm and healed his legs after they were slashed by Sukuna's Dismantle, allowing him to surprise attack the King of Curses.[23]

Anti-Domain Techniques Higuruma using Domain Amplification Domain Amplification (領りょう域いき展てん延えん Ryō'iki Ten'en?): Expands Higuruma's domain over his body like an aura, allowing him to neutralize cursed techniques that come in physical contact with him. While domain amplification is active, his innate technique cannot be activated, causing anything created with it, such as the Executioner's Sword, to disappear.[24]

Domain Expansion Higuruma's Deadly Sentencing (Anime) Deadly Sentencing (誅ちゅう伏ぶく賜し死し Chūbuku Shishi?): Higuruma's innate technique is linked to his Domain Expansion by default. It manifests a small courtroom domain surrounded by guillotines where he and his opponent are placed on podiums standing across from one other. This domain does not use a guaranteed-kill attack, instead, anyone inside is simply forced to follow its rules. Violence is not permitted in the domain and anyone who tries to engage will be returned to their podium.

Inside the courtroom, Judgeman floats behind Higuruma, who acts as the prosecution. Hiromi's opponent is the defendant and Judgeman knows everything about everyone inside the domain. Higuruma does not receive any information from Judgeman, just evidence the shikigami submits for deliberation. The evidence is not conclusive and the defendant is not told what's inside. While inside the domain, the defendant is put on trial by Judgeman and the verdict depends solely on the arguments they make with Hiromi. The defendant's goal is to dispel all doubt and earn a pronouncement of innocence from Judgeman.

Both the defendant and the prosecution have just one chance to make a statement before Judgeman delivers a verdict. The defendant has three options: silence, confession, and denial. After which Hiromi has a chance to offer his rebuttal based on the evidence he was given. All of these rules must be explained as per a binding vow on the domain.[25] A guilty verdict can result in Judgeman confiscating their ability to control cursed energy. Defendants are allowed up to three retrials if they have not pleaded guilty, though each retrial will charge the defendant with another crime. [26]
