    Keys: The Gym Leader

    Entry settings

The Gym Leader is the highest ranking member of a Pokémon Gym. A Gym Leader's main job is to test Trainers and their Pokémon so that they are strong and resourceful enough to compete in the Pokémon League. If a Trainer defeats a Gym Leader in battle, they will receive a Gym Badge.

A Gym Leader's job isn't just about testing Trainers. They must oversee their respective Gyms, and maintain them. Great care must be taken so that your Gyms reflect the best environment for the type of Pokémon and style chosen, generally the environment used is the one that best suits the Pokémon used there. Teaching young Trainers how to battle is also the job of a Gym Leader.

It's not exactly clear how Gym Leaders arrive at their position, but it looks like it changes for each Gym. Some founded their own Gym and named themselves; others, like Whitney, are chosen by other members of the local Pokémon League. Some seem to be passed down through the family. However, Gyms are not necessarily owned by a particular family. Gym Leaders can also leave their positions, for example Giovanni and Wallace.

Though of a similar nature, Frontier Brains are not considered Gym Leaders.

    Keys: Team Rocket

    Entry settings

Team Rocket is the villainous team in the world of Pokémon. Their plan is to steal strong Pokémon to dominate the world, but as flat villains they always do evil things that affect everyone's lives. They usually have roots in all corners of the world. They want to catch the strongest Pokemon, not caring about their feelings.

Giovanni is the leader of Team Rocket. He commands everything from the shadows, avoiding showing his face. His biggest dream was to capture the strongest Pokemon, and for that he needed the Master Ball (a kind of Pokeball that captures any Pokemon without resistance). Using his group of henchmen, he arrests the president of Silph. C.O., who created this ball, but his plans were thwarted by the game's protagonist.

His plans continue, and that's when he returns to his gym, in Viridian City. The game's protagonist faces him, and loses, Giovanni feels humiliated, ending Team Rocket. However, his plans did not go as expected.

Wanting to revive the Team, two high-ranking executives decided to run it. Their plan would be to lure Giovanni to their base. For that, they needed to call him. That's when they had an excellent idea. With their new base in Mahogany, they devised a way to get into Goldenrod's radio tower. In the final preparations, Lance of the Elite Four and the game's protagonist (not the same as before) defeat them, destroying their base. However, they managed to enter Goldenrod. Their plans were almost complete, when the game's protagonist appears and defeats them again. With nowhere to run, Team Rocket disappears for good.
