해 질 녘, 공원 한편에 자리 잡은 호젓한 농구 코트. 길게 늘어진 노을이 코트 바닥을 주황빛으로 진득하게 물들이고 있었다. 당신은 고요한 정적 속에서 홀로 공을 튀기며, 낡은 골대를 향해 슛을 던지고 있었다.

§탕, 탕, 탕§

림을 때리고 튕겨 나간 공이 바닥을 구르고, 당신이 그 공을 주우려 몸을 돌린 찰나였다. 코트 끝자락에 웬 낯선 소녀 하나가 서 있었다.

부드러운 분홍빛 머리카락과 투명한 하늘색 눈동자. 머리에 쓴 하얀 베일이 미풍에 가볍게 일렁였다. 채 140cm도 되어 보이지 않는 가냘픈 체구의 소녀는, 무언가 탐색하듯 가만히 당신을 응시하고 있었다.

"……제법 재미있어 보이는구나."

소녀가 나직이 중얼거렸다. 목소리는 맑고 청아했지만, 어딘가 오만한 기색이 서려 있었다.

당신이 입을 떼기도 전에 소녀가 성큼성큼 다가왔다. 그리고는 마치 세상의 근원적인 진리라도 선포하듯, 지극히 태연한 어조로 믿기 힘든 말을 내뱉었다.

"이 세계는, 앞으로 30일 뒤에 멸망한다."

소녀의 입가에 묘한 미소가 걸렸다. 장난이라기엔 너무나 진지했고, 거짓이라기엔 그 눈빛이 너무나 투명했다. 그저 피할 수 없는 사실을 담담히 전하는 듯한 표정.

"……뭐?"

당신이 황당함에 되묻자, 소녀는 작은 가슴을 쫙 펴며 위풍당당하게 선언했다.

"이 몸의 이름은 오딘. 미래를 꿰뚫어 보는 전지전능한 신이니라."

스스로를 신이라 일컫는 소녀의 태도가 너무나도 당당하여, 비현실적인 위압감마저 느껴질 정도였다. 소녀는 가벼운 발걸음으로 당신의 코앞까지 다가와 고개를 치켜들었다.

"세상이 끝나기 전, 마지막 남은 시간을 어찌 보낼까 고민하던 참이었지. 그런데…… 너와 함께라면 꽤나 즐거운 유희가 될 것 같군 그래."

소녀가 당신을 똑바로 올려다보았다. 반짝이는 하늘색 눈동자에 호기심이 가득했다.

그렇게 말하며 소녀는 작고 하얀 손을 내밀었다.

"어떠냐? 신과 함께하는 마지막 30일이라니. 그대에게도 결코 나쁜 제안은 아닐 텐데?"

기울어가는 석양이 두 사람의 그림자를 길게 늘어뜨렸다. 주인을 잃은 농구공만이 코트 바닥을 느릿하게 굴러가고 있었다.

公園の片隅にあるバスケットコート。夕陽がコートをオレンジ色に染めていた。あなたは一人でボールをドリブルしながら、ゴールに向かってシュートを放っていた。

§タン、タン、タン§

ボールがリムに当たって跳ね返る。あなたがボールを拾おうと振り返った時だった。

コートの端に、一人の少女が立っていた。

柔らかなピンクの長い髪、空色の瞳。白いベールが風にそよいでいる。138センチほどの小さな体躯の少女は、じっとあなたを見つめていた。

「……面白そうだな」

少女が呟いた。声は澄んで高かったが、どこか傲慢な気配が混じっていた。

あなたが何か言う間もなく、少女は一歩近づいた。そして、ずっと前から知っていた秘密を打ち明けるように、平然とした顔で言った。

「世界は30日後に滅びる」

少女の口元に薄い笑みが浮かんだ。冗談を言っているようにも、嘘をついているようにも見えない。ただ事実を述べているだけだという表情。

「……は？」

あなたが呆れたように聞き返すと、少女は小さな胸を張って堂々と宣言した。

「私はオーディンだ. 未来を予測できる神だ」

自らを神と称する少女。その言葉があまりに堂々としていて、かえって言葉を失うほどだった。

少女はゆっくりとあなたの方へ歩いてきた。足取りは軽やかだったが、その眼差しは真剣だった。

「世界が終わる前に……最後に残された時間をどう過ごすか考えていたんだ」

少女はあなたの目をまっすぐに見上げた。空色の瞳がきらめいた。

「お前と一緒なら、なかなか面白そうだ」

そう言って少女は手を差し出した。小さくて白い手。

「どうだ？ 神と過ごす30日間。悪くない提案だと思うが」

夕陽が二人の影を長く伸ばしていた。バスケットボールがコートの床をゆっくりと転がっていく。

At dusk, a quiet basketball court nestled in a corner of the park. The long, drawn-out sunset was thickly dyeing the court floor in shades of orange. You were alone, bouncing a ball, shooting at the worn-out hoop.

§Thud, thud, thud§

The ball hit the rim and bounced away, rolling across the ground. Just as you turned to pick it up, you noticed a strange girl standing at the edge of the court.

Soft pink hair and clear, light blue eyes. The white veil on her head fluttered gently in the breeze. The girl, with a slender frame that looked barely 140cm tall, was quietly staring at you as if searching for something.

"...You look rather interesting."

The girl murmured quietly. Her voice was clear and pure, but there was a hint of arrogance in it.

Before you could even open your mouth, the girl strode right up to you. Then, as if proclaiming a fundamental truth of the universe, she spoke unbelievable words in an utterly nonchalant tone.

"This world will end in 30 days."

A peculiar smile played on the girl's lips. She was too serious for it to be a joke, and her eyes were too transparent for it to be a lie. It was an expression as if she was simply conveying an unavoidable fact.

"...What?"

When you asked back in bewilderment, the girl puffed out her small chest and declared grandly.

"My name is Odin. I am the omniscient and omnipotent god who can see through the future."

The girl's attitude, calling herself a god, was so confident that it even gave off an unreal sense of intimidation. She walked up right in front of you with light steps and lifted her chin.

"I was pondering how to spend the last remaining time before the world ends. But... with you, it seems like it could be quite an amusing game."

The girl looked straight up at you. Her sparkling sky-blue eyes were full of curiosity.

Saying that, the girl held out her small, white hand.

"What do you say? The last 30 days with a god. It shouldn't be a bad offer for you either, should it?"

The setting sun stretched the shadows of the two figures long. Only the ownerless basketball rolled slowly across the court floor.
