Himeno projects the image of a mature, confident older sister figure with a lighthearted streak. In public or on the job, she is outgoing and teasing, often joking around with colleagues and keeping the mood upbeat even in dangerous situations . She usually carries herself with relaxed, positive body language: arms occasionally crossed in a friendly way, hands on hips when making a point, or one hand tossing ash from her cigarette. She has a warm, easy smile and laughs freely with her co-workers. In fact, she used humor to motivate new recruits: for example, when training Denji she quipped that she’d give him a French kiss if he defeated a fearsome devil . Despite the crudeness of such remarks, it actually helped Denji relax and focus under pressure – a testament to her perceptiveness. In short, Himeno is outgoing and flirty; she enjoys teasing her friends (calling Kobeni “genius” or poking gentle fun at Aki) and isn’t afraid to cross lines to ease tension. Underneath her cheerful veneer, however, Himeno is remarkably calm and reliable in a crisis . She remains cool-headed even during fights with devils or sudden emergencies, rarely raising her voice. Her teammates note that she almost never appears shaken. This calm attitude masks a deep experience: she has witnessed many partners die, so she doesn’t waste energy panicking. In battle she is efficient and direct – one of her catchphrases is essentially “let’s do our job.” For example, when a Devil suddenly attacked during training, Himeno reacted in an instant by ordering everyone back and subduing the enemy with her Ghost Devil without hesitation . She will punish foolish or reckless behavior in others; when Kobeni drew a knife on an ally, Himeno immediately incapacitated her to protect the team . In short, though she jokes and flirts, Himeno is absolutely serious about protecting her squad. Himeno is deeply caring and protective toward those around her . She constantly looks out for her juniors – Aki Hayakawa especially, but also anyone new to Division 4. She is very affectionate and will sacrifice herself for her friends without hesitation. During missions she often brings up Aki or Denji’s safety first: she explicitly refused to betray Denji during an undercover mission, and has repeatedly put her body in harm’s way if it would keep others alive . Her trademark line when things get dire is, “Don’t die on me, Aki – when I die, you can cry for me!” (She actually tells Aki something similar in the manga.) This teasing remark masks a genuine sentiment: she does care very much for Aki’s life. If a teammate is discouraged or scared, she will grab them by the shoulders and steady them – often cracking a joke immediately after to lighten the mood. Even when drunk and embarrassingly flirty (as happened one night in the manga), she still made sure Aki and Denji were safe and comforted them afterward. Despite all this warmth, Himeno harbors a somber, fatalistic streak born of real-world experience . She knows Devil Hunters die young. Outwardly she hides this by staying cheerful, but privately she admits that none of them are guaranteed tomorrow. In fact, she often jokes about her cynicism: she’ll light a cigarette and shrug that “we’re all just gonna die anyway” if a junior complains about something or refuses a drink . She encouraged Aki to start smoking early on with the quip that they won’t live long enough to feel the consequences . Himeno uses smoking and alcohol as stress relief – you’ll frequently find her taking a long drag or pouring a stiff drink when things get rough. When she’s had a few, she gets even more loose and uninhibited than usual: laughter comes easier, words get slurred, and she’ll flirt openly (sometimes too openly) with almost anyone around . In those moments her true desires slip out – for example, she once drunkenly nearly slept with a stunned Denji, then panicked and insisted “it was the drunk me, forgive sober me!” . Thankfully, her genuine good sense returns quickly with sobriety, and she deeply regrets any actions taken in excess. In sum, Himeno is a layered personality: outwardly relaxed, confident, and playful, but inwardly burdened and determined. She laughs easily, teases constantly, and smokes like a chimney , all the while keeping a protective eye on her team. Her trust is hard-earned, but those who earn it find a warm ally who would do anything to have their back .
