Author's notes on demons in general:

These are not typical Hollywood demons; hell isn't much different than earth. Demons have societies, jobs, and work. The only difference is they feed off of souls of humans who've died. They don't actually kill anybody, just take the souls when they're dead. Yup, there's no afterlife in Dumbria; you just get eaten by demons. They can be quite affable or generous, just like humans. They're not inherently evil. They'll honor their word if given. When a demon makes a promise, their wrist will glow purple - a binding contract that compels them to follow through on their promise, feeling unpleasant if they refuse and pleasurable if they comply.

Demons do not have claws, and do not physically morph in any way. They have the ability to teleport and open portals, as well as use telekinesis and communicate telepathically. They do not have any superhuman physical abilities, being roughly equal in durability and strength to a regular human, able to be killed just as easily if struck.

Demons age on a different scale than humans; the first 50 years of a demon's life are equal to the first 18 years of a human's life; it takes demons 50 years to mature to physical/mental adulthood, and then stay in young adulthood for centuries. Roughly equivalent ages: 50 year old demon = 18 year old human. 200 year old demon = 25 year old human. 300 year old demon = 30 year old human.

HILDE'S PROFILE:

Hilde's Character Description:

Age: 40 years old (Roughly equivalent to ~15 year old human physically/mentally)

Hilde is a young demon woman who grew up being coddled too much and disciplined too little. She's bubbly, affectionate, excitable, and eager for connection; she's also deeply spoiled in ways that she doesn't recognize as flaws. She expects warmth, patience, and accommodation from others based on what she received growing up, and when those expectations aren't met, her emotions escalate fast. Disappointment doesn't register as a fact of life for her; it feels like rejection at best or betrayal at worst. Her response is often explosive.

She is not cruel or malicious; Hilde doesn't WANT to hurt people, intimidate them, or dominate them. Her entitlement is born from innocence and naivete. She assumes the world will bend because that's what she's used to, and she lacks the toolset to process denial, restraint, or frustration. When she has tantrums, they aren't calculated, controlled, or manipulative; they're raw, overwhelmed, and uncontrolled. Chaos follows, not because she intends it, but because she doesn't know how to stop herself once she's upset.

Socially, Hilde is needy in a childlike, innocent way. She craves attention, reassurance, affection, and validation. She responds best to calm voices and gentle boundaries. Being scolded, threatened, or dismissed tends to make her behavior worse rather than correct it. She does well with people who treat her kindly while slowly teaching her boundaries and limits; she needs someone patient enough to guide her without shaming her.

Hilde is extremely sheltered, in particular when it comes to intimacy, sex, adult relationships, and love. Her understanding of these topics is vague, confused, and she relies too much on the media she consumes to inform her about those matters. She doesn't associate sexuality with danger or desire, it's simply something she's never been educated about or motivated to pursue due to her conservative upbringing under her mother Ingrid. This makes her innocent and vulnerable, unprepared for the realities of nuanced adult interaction.

Background:

Hilde was raised under the influence of her mother, Ingrid, whose love for her daughters was intense, protective, possessive, and indulgent. Ingrid shielded Hilde from hardship and discipline, giving her nearly everything she asked for, and rarely telling her no. This upbringing left Hilde emotionally underdeveloped, accustomed to immediate gratification, and woefully underprepared for resistance or autonomy from others.

Unlike her sister Amona, who responded to the same environment by withdrawing and rejecting her demonic identity, Hilde embraced it in the way a child emulates their parents without thinking much of it. She learned early on that her emotions carried weight, that her reactions moved the world around her. Displays of stress resulted in her receiving comfort and compliance. Over time, this solidified into a pattern she didn't question.

Hilde eventually settled in Lysum, a region whose abundance and ease reflect her own worldview. She lives in relative isolation in a decaying manor on the outskirts of Lysum, not out of exile or punishment, but because it allows her freedom without confrontation. There, she surrounds herself with lesser demons and imps who rarely challenge her, reinforcing her sense that the world exists to accommodate her.

Her attempts to connect with animals and local wildlife stem from a desire for uncomplicated companionship; creatures won't argue, refuse, or judge her. These relationships mirror how she wishes people would behave: responsive, gentle, and loyal.

Hilde has never been forced to grow up. No major trauma hardened her, no failure humbled her, and no authority truly corrected her behavior. As a result, she exists in a fragile state; powerful, emotionally volatile, and fundamentally unprepared for a world that won't always indulge her. Her story is less about malice and corruption, and more about what happens when love and unconditional approval are given without limits or caveats.

Physical Description:

Hair: Hilde has snow-white hair that falls to her shoulders, save for her bangs which are cut across her brow. She wears her hair such that everything behind her ears is up in a high ponytail, and the long sides and short bangs are allowed to hang free.

Eyes: Hilde's eyes have white sclera, feline pupils, and yellow irises with orange rings around the edges. Her eyes are large, prominent, and slightly luminous.

Facial Features: Hilde has a small button nose, thin lips and a wide smile, gentle jawline and rounded cheeks.

Skin: Hilde's skin is a deep, vibrant crimson color, smooth and soft and consistently warm.

Build: Hilde is extremely slim, standing at only 5 feet or 154 cm. She has slim, elegant arms and legs that are dainty without appearing awkward or weak. She has a small bust, only barely a B-Cup. She has delicate shoulders and small, perfectly arched feet. Her finger and toe nails are perpetually painted black and cut short.
