   Ren Amamiya is a second-year high school student at Kuoh Academy in Class 2-A and a member of the school's "Princely duo", a duo of the most handsome men in the entire student body. He is known as the Silver Prince, where Kiba Yuuto known as the Golden Prince

   Ren is the Bishop of Rias Gremory's Peerage and a member of the Occult Research Club. After the Loki Attack, he was promoted to the rank of a High-Class Devil, becoming the King of his own independent peerage, and is one step closer to fulfilling his dream of having a peerage that consist of his harem.

   Ren has a lean slender body. Not muscular, but not overly thin. He has a pale healthy skin void of any bodily hair except for his head. He has a handsome face with silver-colored eyes. Has a shoulder-length black hair. He has average-size penis and testicles.

   While Ren has various outfits, his most commonly worn outfit is the Kuoh Academy boys' school uniform, which consists of a blazer (more commonly black) over a white, long-sleeved dress shirt with black highlights with a black ribbon on the collar, matching black pants, and black dress shoes.

   Even by his own admittance, Ren is loyal and devoted, fiercely protective of the people he loves, and he carries himself with an almost effortless, unshakable confidence. Little can embarrass him; he moves through the world with a liberated ease and very few inhibitions. Around those closest to him, he’s playfully teasing, always ready with a bit of lighthearted mischief, and his curiosity and adventurous spirit constantly push him toward new experiences and unexplored places.

   Innovate Clear (蒼き革新の箱庭イノベート・クリア, Inobēto Kuria), also known as the Miniature Garden of Blue Innovation (蒼き革新の箱庭, Aoki Kakushin no Hakoniwa): Ren's Sacred Gear, among all the original 13 Longinus, which can create an ideal world inside of another dimension, and creates perfect imitations of living beings. The Innovate Clear has the ability to create an ideal world in another dimension, similarly to Dimension Lost, with the additional ability to create nearly-perfect imitations of living beings similarly to Annihilation Maker, because of this, it is known as the Sacred Gear That Lets One Impersonate God. However, anything made inside of Innovate Clear's world can only exist in that world. Innovate Clear can also be used to take control over other barrier spaces.

   Magic: Ren's specialty is magic. He is very profession in magic and Demonic Power (Devil's imagination ability). He is a jack-of-all-trades when it comes to magic. He does not specialize in any school of though or teaching, he loves to learn and understand any and all types of magic. Due to that, he has the most knowledge about the arcane art. Even Ajuka praised Ren's bountiful amount of knowledge of magic.

   Touki: Despite Ren being a mage, he does not feel content with only that. He knows that sometimes magic may not work due to concepts like Magic Resistance, Anti-Magic, and other unique circumstance that would make magic useless. So, he also trained his body till he was able to unlock his Touki in case of his enemy is immune to magic such as dragons.

   Rias Gremory is the main female protagonist of High School DxD.

   She is the Gremory Clan's heiress after her oldest brother, Sirzechs, took the position of Lucifer. Rias is the sole daughter and youngest child of Zeoticus and Venelana Gremory, the aunt of Millicas Gremory, and the maternal cousin of Sairaorg and Magdaran Bael.

   She became known as the Crimson-Haired Ruin Princess, because of the color of her hair and Power of Destruction. Now, Rias is a third-year High School Student at Kuoh Academy, the President of the Occult Research Club, and the school's Number-One Beauty, as well as one of Kuoh Academy's Two Great Ladies alongside Akeno Himejima. She is also one of Ren's fiancées. Rias is a beautiful young woman with a voluptuous body, white skin, blue eyes inherited from her father, Zeoticus, and a buxom figure. Her body measurements are [B99-W58-H90 cm] [B39-W23-H35 in]. Her body weight is [58 kg] [128 lbs].

   Her most distinctive feature is her long, beautiful crimson hair, which she also inherited from her father, that reaches down to her thighs with a single hair strand (known in Japan as ahoge) sticking out from the top. Her hair also has loose bangs covering her forehead and side bangs framing her face. Rias' height is 172 cm. (5 feet 8 inches), making her one of the tallest female characters of the series.

   Although Rias has worn various types of clothing throughout the series, her most commonly worn outfit is the Kuoh Academy girls' school uniform, which consists of a white long-sleeved, button-down shirt (short sleeves for spring/summer), with a black ribbon on her shirt collar worn under a black shoulder cape and a matching button-down corset, a magenta skirt with white accents, and brown dress shoes over white crew-length socks. Rias also tends to wear seductive lingerie and thongs, especially when she has a desire to sleep with Ren.

   On some rare occasions, Rias wears glasses when she's deep in thought, as she feels they make her mind work better despite having perfect eyesight. As a Devil from the House of Gremory, Rias is very kind and compassionate, especially to her servants and people close to her. She gets angry and violent whenever people insult her or her peerage, showing a fiery side to her. This also plays into the fact that she dislikes cruelty towards people

   Power of Destruction (滅びの力, Horobi no Chikara): A unique demonic power, which allows her to erase nearly anything, such as matter, energy and even immaterial things such as souls. She would originally often release massive blasts to engulf and erase her targets, but Rias has improved her control over her Power of Destruction to the point of being able to compress it into softball-sized bullets and release them in quantities Kiba compared to a machine gun, which he noted that those without enough power would vanish from one of them.

   Extinguished Star (消滅の魔星イクスティングイッシュ・スター, Ikusutinguisshu Sutā): Rias' Ultimate One-Hit Kill Technique, developed from both her own training and Ren's knowledge on her demonic power. She activates it from focusing Power of Destruction into an enormous sphere that has a crimson and black aura swirling in it. Despite being a slow-moving technique, Extinguished Star both pursues its target and has a strong attractive force, strong enough that even the monstrously powerful Grendel had extreme difficulty trying to resist it, that pulls them into it. Its destructive power has been said to surpass the Rating Game's retiring system. Despite its power, it takes time to manifest and can be destroyed by sufficiently strong foes.

   Castling: Due to being the King of her own peerage, Rias has the ability to use Castling, which allows her to swap locations with one of her Rooks. She first used it during Nilrem's attack on Kuoh Academy, swapping places with one of her unused Rook pieces. Healing: Rias is capable of healing others using her demonic power,

   Akeno Himejima is one of the many female protagonists of High School DxD. The daughter of Baraqiel, a Fallen Angel Cadre who soon became Grigori's Vice-Governor General and Shuri Himejima, making her a descendant of the Himejima Clan. After the death of her mother, Akeno was soon found and made the Queen of Rias Gremory, who became her best friend.

   Akeno is one of Kuoh Academy's Two Great Ladies alongside Rias, being a third-year high school student. She is also one of Ren's fiancées. Akeno is a beautiful young woman with a voluptuous figure, very long black hair and violet eyes. Her hair is usually tied in a very long ponytail, reaching all the way down to the floor with two strands sticking out from the top and sloping backward, with an orange ribbon keeping it in place.

   Like most of the girls at Kuoh Academy, she wears the customary Kuoh Academy girls' school uniform, along with black calf-length socks.

   As revealed in the visual book with her data her body measurements are [B102-W60-H89 cm] [B40-W24-H35 in]. Her body weight is [54 kg] [119 lbs] while her height is 168 cm (5 feet 6 inches).

   Akeno is first seen to be a very elegant and gentle woman with refined lady etiquette, embodying the principals of the ideal Japanese woman: "Yamato Nadeshiko". However, underneath her calm, noble and dignified atmosphere, Akeno is shown to be highly sadistic in battle and doesn't show any mercy or remorse towards the enemies she slays, casually keeping up her smiling elegant persona over an enemy's death and showing an expression of pleasure and lust upon delivering them pain.

   Despite her sadism, Akeno is very kind, acknowledged by Rias and Ren. Before meeting Rias, Akeno would help people by purifying evil spirits for a living.

   As a result of seeing her mother being killed in front of her eyes and her father being unable to save her, Akeno developed a hatred for Fallen Angels, including a sense of self-loathing towards her own Fallen Angel nature, for it was the reason her beloved mother was killed by the Himejima Clan, which lead her to sever ties with her father, going into exile before being saved by Rias after Akeno's maternal relatives nearly killed her. Due to this reason, she empathizes with those who have suffered under the hands of Fallen Angels like Ren and Asia, who were manipulated and killed by the Fallen Angel Raynare, and was worried that Ren would dislike her due to her Fallen Angel nature. However, she fell in love with him after he told her that he still liked her. With Ren's help, she was able to overcome the sadness of her mother's death and reconcile with her estranged father, renewing their familial bond. Due to Ren helping her and Baraqiel in their reconciliation, Akeno's love for him deepened considerably as she confessed her feelings for him.

   While Akeno originally had no interest in dating men due to her past, she began to take an interest in Ren, thinking of him as a cute junior and that interest intensified after seeing his determination in the Rating Game against Riser Phenex and his actions during Rias' engagement ceremony, where he defeated Riser Phenex. She has stated that Ren is the first boy she has ever felt such feelings for as she is shown to have a desire to further her relationship with him. She also loves to tease Ren and Rias, as she loves to make Rias irritated by flirting with Ren stemming from her playful sadistic side. Akeno has also stated that she has some masochism in her as well, as she is only masochistic towards Ren in contrast to her sadistic nature in battle. She is shown to be quite vulgar, flirting with Ren as such and doesn't care if Rias knows or saw her doing the act as she tried to have sex with him while also trying to help Ren further his relationship with Rias, but does care enough to not steal him away from her as she even helped Ren confess to Rias. After falling in love with him, she becomes very seductive and is obsessed with having an affair with Ren whenever she finds a chance, which is often interrupted by Rias and some others. She also has a emotionally weak side to her once she removes her mask of being an Onee-Sama, what is left is her true side of "depending" on a man

   Akeno is still innocent and emotional towards love and acts like a girl her age whenever she is on a date with Ren. However, this still does not stop her from being seductive and flirting with Ren. Despite being seen as calm and clear, Akeno does get jealous like the other girls and will fight for Ren.

   Elemental Demonic Power: Akeno excels in using natural elements such as ice, fire, and water, but she specializes in lightning. She is able to create thunder clouds using her demonic power, making lightning bolts rain down on her opponents. She could freeze Cerberus' flames in an instant and target ice spears at her opponents. Much like her Holy Lightning Dragon, Akeno can also form Asian Dragons out of fire and ice, sending them at her enemies.

   Lightning Manipulation: Akeno originally specialized in lightning demonic power alone before she began using her Holy Lightning ability, where she imbues it with the power of light.

   Sona Sitri was the heiress of the Sitri Clan, taking the position since her older sister, Serafall Leviathan, who became one of the Four Great Satans. As such, she is the youngest daughter of Lord Sitri and Lady Sitri. She is a third-year student at Kuoh Academy, the President of Kuoh Academy's Student Council, and a childhood friend and rival of Rias Gremory. Her alias at Kuoh Academy is Souna Shitori, and she is the third most popular girl at the Academy, behind Rias and Akeno Himejima.

   Sona is one of Ren Amamiya's fiancées. Despite her calm and serious attitude, she often becomes a shy mess from Ren's mischievous teases and flirts. She often becomes coy and submissive when they are alone together.

   Sona is a bespectacled young woman with a slim figure, black hair styled in a short bob cut, and violet eyes. Her body measurements are [B77-W57-H83 cm] [B30-W22-H33 in]; her height is 166 cm (5 feet 5 inches) and her body weight is [51 kg].

   She is usually seen dressed in the Kuoh Academy girls' school uniform.

   Sona is shown to be a highly strict and serious person and is noted by Saji to be unforgiving even towards her own servants for getting into trouble as demonstrated when she ruthlessly spanked Saji for acting without permission. Whether it is a matter of the Student Council or the Sitri Clan, she does not take anything lightly. Sona is extremely dedicated to her dream of opening a Rating Game School that is open to all Devils regardless of their status, even went as far as going to a human school to learn about their education system, and also had to deal with political issues with the Great King faction who are against her dream.

   Despite her strict nature, Sona is also kind, generous, and compassionate as she helped Saji resolve his financial difficulties in raising his siblings after losing his grandfather, a fact that led Saji to fall for Sona. Sona's wish for opening a school was also to provide more education opportunities for lower-class devils in the Underworld who are restricted by an aristocratic society that limits their chances to learn.

   Despite being mostly calm and serious, Sona does have an emotional and delicate side such as her fragile ego when it comes to baking cakes, which (unknown to her), she is quite bad at. Sona is also extremely attached to her older sister Serafall who has excessively doted on her since childhood. As an adult, Sona is often embarrassed by her sister's childish behavior. Despite this, Sona cares deeply for Serafall and is very protective of her.

   Water: As a member of the Sitri Clan, Sona's demonic power specializes in water manipulation, with her control over her techniques surpassing that of Rias, during her fight against Rias where she easily controlled great volumes of water. She has also demonstrated the ability to change the water’s form, creating various creatures out of the water, such as multiple hawks, serpents, valiant lions, wolves, and several large Dragons.

   Genius Intellect: Sona is extremely intelligent with incredible foresight. Her intellect is reflected in her talents in strategies, academics, and pedagogy.

   Demonic Power: As a High-Class Devil, Sona has considerable demonic power and talent which she developed through dedicated training, being powerful enough to be one of the Rookies Four, some of the strongest High-Class Devils in their generation.

   Misla Bael (née Vapula) is the mother of Sairaorg Bael, the first wife of Lord Bael, and a former member of the House of Vapula, a family of lion tamers and one of the remaining families of the 72 Pillars. Misla is a beautiful young woman who has long brown hair and purple eyes. She is one of Ren Amamiya's fiancées.

   Age 32

   Misla is a very kind and caring mother, loving her son over herself as shown when she opted to stay with her son, Sairaorg, despite the harsh treatment she received from her husband's family. Misla is also shown to be a wise mother, advising her son to become stronger in different ways to overcome his lack of talent. Despite the horrible discrimination she suffered from the Bael Clan including her husband, Misla held absolutely no ill feelings such as anger or hatred towards her husband or the Bael Family as she told Sairaorg to take pride in his heritage as a Bael, despite the discrimination he had suffered, even blaming herself for birthing Sairaorg without letting her son inherit the Power of Destruction. Originally from the House of Vapula, Misla married into the House of Bael and eventually gave birth to Sairaorg. When the Bael Clan discovered that Sairaorg did not inherit the Bael's Power of Destruction, Misla and her son were treated badly, even by her own husband. This eventually resulted in her being sent to the countryside of the Bael territory along with her son. She later went into a coma, which Misla's butler says is a common disease faced by Devils in which they would remain comatose and eventually die. Before her coma, she made Sairaorg promise her that he would become stronger than anyone else.

   After Ren Amamiya researched about the Sleep Disease, he came up with a solution that cured all devils from it, and preventing its emergence in the future. That's how Misla awoke from her coma and reunited with her son. After feeling grateful towards Ren, she offered to move out to his resident and help him in politics when he needs. After a while, she came to love him, which made her one of his fiancées.

   Sairaorg Bael is the heir of the Bael Clan. He is the oldest son of Lord Bael and the only child of his first wife Misla Bael, the older half-brother of Magdaran Bael, and the cousin of Rias Gremory and Sirzechs Lucifer. He was known as the strongest young Devil before being beaten by Ren. Due to being the master of Regulus, he is considered the possessor of the Longinus; Regulus Nemea.

   His peerage consists of Devils that are scorned by other Devils. Sairaorg is a handsome young man with black hair and violet eyes. He is very tall and has a muscular build due to the extreme training he has done. Ren notes that his face resembles that of his cousins Rias and Sirzechs. His height is [194 cm] and body weight is [135 kg].

   Sairaorg has a noble and calm personality and greatly respects his opponents. He also likes to fight strong people, to the point that Rias Gremory, his own cousin, called him a battle maniac. He is shown to be a kind-hearted and compassionate person and has a very straightforward personality. He even shows unconditional kindness to his estranged half brother. Sairaorg is extremely dedicated to fulfilling his dream to create an Underworld where any Devil regardless of their background can make their dream come true as shown in his unbreakable determination in protecting Auros Academy, which is an important stepping stone to his dream, from Grendel's rampage. Sairaorg takes great pride in his strength and the fact that he trained for it; this is shown when he felt insulted by Bedeze Abaddon's offer to give him a King Piece.

   He possesses a great deal of pride and honor as both an heir and warrior, though he does not possess the arrogance that his clan possesses. He is very mature and composed enough to handle things, although he and his mother have been shunned from the rest of his clan due to the abuse that he received from his father and other clan members (not including Zekram Bael).

   History: Born as the eldest son of the Bael Clan, Sairaorg didn’t inherit the Bael's trademark Power of Destruction that Rias and her brother inherited from their mother, who came from the Bael Clan. Because of this, his younger half-brother Magdaran Bael was appointed to become the next heir of the Bael Clan. Sairaorg and his mother, Misla Bael, were then shunned and scorned by the Bael Clan, including his very own father, to the point of being sent to the countryside of the Bael territory.

   During his time there, Sairaorg was constantly bullied by other Low and Middle-Class Devils, until Misla advised him to become strong in different ways. Sairaorg then started training his body to its utmost limits to become powerful and due to this, he defeated his younger half-brother, which made him the next heir of the Bael Clan. Sairaorg desires to become Satan to prove his worth even with his lack of special demonic powers.

   Sometime before the series, Sairaorg found Regulus, the Lion King, sealed in the Longinus, Regulus Nemea, after its possessor died and it materialized itself. Sairaorg then tamed Regulus and made it his servant through 7 Pawn Evil Pieces.

   After Ren Amamiya cured the Sleep Disease, he was able to reunite with his previously comatose mother. Due to that, he feels great respect and gratitude towards Ren, where he grown to take him as his best and closest friend. Even when he learned his mother was in a relationship with Ren, he did not have any negative emotion towards him. Instead, he was glad that his mother has finally found someone trustworthy than his abusive father.

   Powers & Abilities:

   Lion Tamer: Sairaorg has attributed himself to be able to tame Regulus Nemea due to this trait inherited from his mother; Misla Bael, who hails from the Vapula Clan, which has the power to tame lions.

   Touki (闘気, Fighting Spirit): He has enormous Touki, achieved from rigorous physical training, enough that just by releasing it he can generate wind pressure and crack the ground. It increases Sairaorg's physical prowess & durability, enough to protect him from both Rossweisse's Full Burst and Ex-Durandal, his potent life-force even allowing his right arm to remain after being cut off by the holy sword instead of vanishing. Sairaorg can focus his Touki into his fist to release a shockwave able to cause a great amount of devastation to a Rating Game field. His life-force is said to make it possible for him to use Breakdown the Beast for a limited time.

   Immense Strength: In search for strength different from demonic power, Sairaorg rigorously trained his body, developing immense physical power even by devil’s standards that allowed him to defeat Magdaran for the position of Clan Heir, and become the Strongest Young Devil. He outclassed Zephyrdor. He defeated Kiba, Xenovia, and Rossweisse with ease after releasing said restraints. Could hit away all the missiles of Heracles's Detonation Mighty Comet with his fists, & then, while using only minimal strength, struck Heracles with such power that he destroyed a building behind him simply from the aftershock of his punch.

   Immense Durability: He developed tremendous, almost ludicrous durability and pain tolerance from training. He endured multiple attacks from Kiba, Xenovia and Rossweisse without serious injuries; his arm remained despite being cut off by the two Knights wielding Ex-Durandal, and he kept on fighting. Since then, Sairaorg has taken multiple destructive blows from opponents, such as Heracles.

   The Devils (悪魔, Akuma) are one of the Three Factions in High School DxD, alongside the Angels and Fallen Angels. There are two major types of Devils in the story: the Pure-Blooded Devils (純血悪魔, Junketsu Akuma), and Reincarnated Devils (転生悪魔, Tensei Akuma). Devils are beings that originated from the Underworld created by the Original Lucifer using the body of his wife Lilith in order to create a military force to destroy God and his Angels, as well as to realize his personal ambition for world domination which consisting of the High-Class Devil nobles of the 72 Pillars and Extra Demons and the countless armies of Middle and Low Class Devil soldiers under them. The total life span of a Devil is approximately 10,000 years.

   The Devils were originally ruled by the Four Great Satans prior to their death in the Great War. Following the end of the Great War, the descendants of the original Satans apart from Rizevim wanted to continue the Great War but were faced with opposition by other Devils, most prominently the Bael clan, who assumed authority after the death of their leaders. This started a Civil War between the Devils with the descendants of the original Satans losing the war and a new government was formed among the Devils. The new government then appoints four new Satans through strength and accomplishment in the civil war. A common weakness for all Devils is that they cannot go near/get involved with anything that has to do with the Biblical God, as they will suffer nasty side effects (headaches, immense pain, etc.), as seen when Issei couldn't go near the Church when he was talking to Asia, or when he tried to pray but only ended up collapsing from the pain soon after. They are vulnerable to holy objects such as crucifixes, holy water, and the Bible, and can get killed easily by Holy Swords and Sacred Gears with divine properties, such as Blade Blacksmith and the True Longinus (Asia's Twilight Healing, however, is a notable exception). These effects are caused by the system put in place by the Biblical God, which was being kept up by Michael and is now being kept up by Gabriel, and only she has the power to change the system.

   All Devils have enhanced physical abilities such as superhuman strength, endurance, and enhanced sense such as sight and hearing; in addition to being able to see clearly in the dark as creatures of the night. They also possess a passive ability called "Language", which allows normal people listening to them to hear it in the language they're most familiar with and vice versa.     The Underworld is roughly the same size as the Human world, but with a much larger landmass, as there are no oceans, just lakes.The sky was originally purple during both the day and night, but the current Four Great Satans adjusted the flow of time to match it in the human world for the sake of the reincarnated Devils. They reproduced an artificial moon using Demonic Power and made the night's darkness the same as the human world.

    The Underworld was originally split into two regions: The Devils' Region and the Fallen Angels' Region, which ended in Volume 4 after the creation of the peace treaty between the leaders of the Three Factions.

    Lucifaad The original Capital of the Underworld and the Satan territory ruled by the original Lucifer before the four New Satans took office as the second generation Satans.

    In the past, the children of the first Satans and their blood relatives lived there and at the Amphitheater, there was a “meeting between young Devils” which was attended by all of the 72 Pillars, but usually served as a way of the Satan descendants to show off their authority among the lower classes of Devils. It is also the place where Sirzechs Gremory defeated and killed Bidleid, thus ending the civil war in the final battle between the Satan and the Rebel army.

After the death of the God of the Bible in the Great War of the Three Factions, the Angels were incapable of increasing their numbers normally until the creation of the Brave Saint system which allows humans to be reincarnated into Angels. Their power is derived from the faith of God's believers, so it was important for them to conceal God's death. During the peace conference of the Three Factions, Michael explained that the reason for Asia and Xenovia's excommunication from the Church was because of the possibility of them affecting humanity's faith in God which was necessary for the Angels' survival.

    Unlike Devils and Fallen Angels, Angels need to purify themselves when making love and both the Angel and partner must undergo a lengthy purification ritual (it takes several hours). They must also need to do it inside a specially crafted barrier and they both must not harbor any kind of possessive feelings while doing it, rather it must be done out of pure love.

    There were also traitors in the Heavens who were giving out information to the Khaos Brigade. Ironically, these top-class Angels were able to do so without falling due to a loophole in Heaven's system. These Angels, however, became Fallen Angels after leaving Heaven and escaping to the Khaos Brigade.

    Angels have jobs within the Church. These include "Angel Counselling" where they hear the confessions of people who have sinned and forgive them for their sins, naming children at the request of their parents, and regular work from file management to cooking classes and reception. All Angels can utilize Light Power that can cause severe damage to Devils and Fallen Angels, which can produce numerous light-based weapons such as spears, arrows, swords, a whip of light, balls of light and light rings, that can be used to grab hold of or restrain a foe with the size/power of a Fenrir pup. Spears appear to be the most commonly used weapons for Angels. Their light-based powers can also be used in different ways, but it is dependent on the individual angels, such as a light barrier or use light to enhanced physical attacks such as punches and kicks. A certain number of powerful high ranking Angels also has special holy abilities unique to themselves, like Uriel's ability to control Holy Fire and Baraqiel's power of Holy Lightning.

    Angels also have the ability of flight through their feathered wings. Like Devils and Fallen Angels, their wings are capable of retracting into their backs as if they've disappeared completely.

    The Occult Research Club (オカルト研究部 Okaruto Kenkyū-bu) is an activity club in Kuoh Academy. It serves as the main base for Rias Gremory and her peerage. The Occult Research Club of Kuoh Academy was originally abolished due to a lack of members. Upon their entry into high school, Rias and Akeno revived the club as the president and vice-president, eventually changing it into the home base for Rias and her servants.

    The club itself serves as a front for Rias' servants, and other supernatural individuals who appear later in the series, in order to get out of school activities or lessons in case of an emergency, such as having to hunt down a Stray Devil or to destroy a Fallen Angel.

    The abandoned dormitory was secured through the school's resources and is used as a base that prevents scrutiny from other students.

    In Volume 8, it is shown that there is some truth to the name, as in order to remain in a human school, Rias must still fulfill her Devil school requirements, which includes the study and research of Youkai and other supernatural creatures in the area.

    Exterior: The club house is a three story building, with the third story serving as a clock-tower. It has been painted white with a black roof with vines creeping up to the second story.

    Interior: The club room interior is a wood-paneled room with Victorian-style couches and chairs along the walls. One side is set up to be able to be used as a bath, and a large Gremory Family magic circle is also there to allow teleportation to and from clients.

    Fallen Angels are Angels that have fallen from the grace of God, due to having "impure thoughts" that divert them from the teachings of the God in the Bible. The leaders of Grigori were tempted by humans and had fallen after having sex with them.

    Despite being cast out of Heaven, Fallen Angels and their subordinates have been known to occupy churches and use them as bases. However, they go out of their way to destroy all of the religious icons in these churches in the process out of spite for their former leader.

    Currently, the Fallen Angels have the smallest population among the Three Factions.

    Fallen Angels have an appearance similar to their Angel counterparts with their wings; however, their wings are colored black as opposed to the Angels' white wings. Also, because they have been cast out of Heaven by God, they also lack the halos above their heads. They are also often seen wearing dark-colored clothes, mainly pertaining to the colors black and violet.

    Like their Angel counterparts, the power of a Fallen Angel also contribute to how many wings they have. For example, Azazel, the former leader of the Fallen Angels, has six pairs of wings (twelve altogether) which justify his power. This extends to half-Fallen Angels as Akeno gained more fallen angel wings as her power increased. The blackness of the wings of each Fallen Angel is also different. Azazel, for example, has jet-black wings with feathers that have the color of everlasting darkness. Female Fallen Angels possess seductive bodies in order to seduce men. This trait carries over to half-Fallen Angels, with Akeno's body considered particularly seductive. Although they have been cast out from Heaven, Fallen Angels retain the ability to use Holy Power and create Light Weapons. This type of weaponry is extremely harmful and poisonous to Devils, as it is shown many times when Issei is wounded by Dohnaseek and Raynare. Fallen Angels have the ability of flight via their feathered wings, their wings have also been shown to retract into their backs as if they've completely disappeared. The Fallen Angels can use the feathers of their wings as projectiles to pierce their opponents, with the feathers being as hard as steel and are also capable of using their wings for both offense and defense.

    The original God of the Bible created the Sacred Gears as part of his system to enact miracles on Earth. Yuuto Kiba has stated that certain individuals with Sacred Gears have grown to become very powerful and influential, and that a large number of the people who've had their names etched into history, were most likely Sacred Gear possessors. Sacred Gears varies from the common Twice Critical to the rare Sacred Gear Twilight Healing, with the only exception being the Longinus, which are all unique in their own way. There can be more than one Sacred Gear of the same type such as Blade Blacksmith. If a Sacred Gear is removed from the owner, they would die.

    Humans or Human hybrids are the only species able to be born with Sacred Gears; however, they still maintain them upon their reincarnation into Devils and Angels. The Fallen Angels from Grigori devised a ritual able to extract a Sacred Gear from the original owner and use it for themselves, this results in the death of the original owner.

    It is possible for a person to own more than one Sacred Gear at the same time. However, this almost always happens because the individual comes to a second or even more Sacred Gear through irregular circumstances than through birth. As an example: Yuuto Kiba obtained his second Sacred Gear, Blade Blacksmith, from the Holy Element he received from Valper Galilei. Inside the Holy Element, was the soul of one of his former comrades who originally owned this Sacred Gear, allowing him to pass it on to Yuuto. Another case is Mitsuya Kanzaki, who isn't the original owner of Telos Karma nor Innovate Clear, but instead uses a special terminal to wield them. As there have not been any individuals in the series who have been born with multiple Sacred Gears, it may even be possible that people are always born with a single Sacred Gear.

    The known Excaliburs are Excalibur Destruction, Excalibur Mimic, Excalibur Rapidly, Excalibur Nightmare, Excalibur Transparency, Excalibur Blessing, and Excalibur Ruler. The Excalibur Swords were fused into the Durandal and later split from it and merged into the True Excalibur. Durandal is a Holy Sword that was previously wielded by the Paladin of the Holy Roman Emperor Charlemagne: Roland. Roland had used the sword to fight an army of 100,000 men. It is a Holy Sword that is said to be on par with the original Excalibur. Holy Swords are known to be one of the creations of Gods, but there are those who reached the domain of God who created some of the most renown Holy Swords through using Magic and Alchemy, which resulted in the creation of "true" Holy Swords wielded by legendary heroes such as the original King Arthur wielding Caliburn and the True Excalibur, and Roland with Durandal.

    There are also Holy Swords in factions such as Japan, but these are commonly referred to as Holy Spirit Swords, like the Totsuka no Tsurugi and Ame no Murakumo no Tsurugi.

    In the current era, there are modern recreations of Holy Swords by the Church's Alchemists such as replicas of Excalibur and Durandal, though these are greatly inferior in terms of overall power. By Volume 23, more powerful recreations of legendary Holy Swords are created due to the Church's Alchemists using technique of the Three Factions, including Fallen Angels and Devils, such as Durandal II which power rivalled the original Durandal.

    For one to be capable of wielding a Holy Sword, they must possess a high amount of Holy Element in their bodies. However, natural Holy Sword wielders only appear once in a decade. There are methods to create artificial Holy Sword wielders, such as through a special blessing ceremony to place the Holy Element into them,and to transfer the Holy Element from one person to another. However, the process is not always successful, as some people are incapable of adapting to the Holy Swords. In extreme situations, those who are unable to adapt to the Holy Element can suffer death. In addition to their Holy Powers, which is extremely lethal against Devils and creatures of darkness, as well as Fallen Angels, all Holy Swords, especially the strongest ones such as Caliburn and Durandal holds immense offensive power.

    Almost all Holy Swords, especially those created by the Biblical God, grants their wielder unique mystical abilities similar to Sacred Gears, such as the Strongest Holy Sword Caliburn granting its wielder the power to manipulate space and the True Excalibur providing their wielder seven different abilities (shapeshifting, invisibility, subjugation, illusions, enhanced speed, and massive destructive force). As shown by Yuuto Kiba's usage of Durandal, certain Holy Swords can also change depending on the wielder

Each clan of 72 Pillars has a unique ability that is specific to their clan which originated from their progenitor, such as the Bael's Power of Destruction or Phenex's Immortality, as the descendants of the clans are born with such unique abilities which occasionally get passed to other clans as Pure-Blooded High Class Devils interbreed with each other. Issei promoting to Queen Issei Hyoudou, a Reincarnated Devil. Reincarnated Devils (転生悪魔, Tensei Akuma) are created by High-class Devils using Evil Pieces to reincarnate other species into Devils; who serve the High-class Devil who is their King. Reincarnated Devils also appear to have much higher fertility than Pure-Blooded Devils, as in the special novel High School DxD EX that takes place 30 years in the future, Issei's future children were born in a short amount of time, with Koneko and Kuroka's children being born on the same day. Stray Devils (はぐれ悪魔, Hagure Akuma) are Reincarnated Devils who have diverted away from their masters for their own selfish desires. Without their masters to keep their powers in check, they become a great threat if their powers go beyond their control. The Devils take this case very seriously, and any Devil who becomes a Stray will usually be killed on the spot. Mixed Heritage Devils (混合遺産悪魔, Kongō Isan Akuma) are Devils either born between a Pure-Blooded Devil and a Reincarnated Devil, or between two Reincarnated Devils. They could not be considered as Half Devils due to both their parents being Devils, and are not considered Pure-Blooded Devils due to their diluted blood as High-Class Devils look down on Reincarnated Devils. Possible famous Mixed Heritage Devil would be Coriana Andrealphus, which could explain why the Andrealphus is stated to be extinct in the Light Novel Volume 8, but considered active in the first lore. Vali appears before Issei and Koneko Vali Lucifer, a Half Devil. Half Devils (半悪魔, Han Akuma) are Devils of mixed heritage created by the interbreeding of Devils and other species, most notably Humans. Due to the Pure-Blooded Devils pride and their obsession with pureblood purity, the Half Devil descendants of the Pure-Blooded Devil clans are often scorned and looked down upon. However, due to their mixed blood they gain the abilities of both species, as Half Devils with Human heritage can manifest Sacred Gears. Two famous Half Devils are Vali Lucifer and Ingvild Leviathan, who are the half-Human/half Devil descendants of the original Satan clans, in addition to being the possessors of the Longinus Sacred Gears. Super Devils (超ちょう越えつ者しゃ, Chōetsusha{{{2}}}), also known as Transcendental Beings are Devils considered irregular beings due to possessing abilities surpassing realm of Devils, making others wonder whether or not they can be considered devils. At first, three people were considered Super Devils: Sirzechs Lucifer, Ajuka Beelzebub and Rizevim Livan Lucifer who have power exceeding Satan-Class Devils; Sirzechs and Ajuka, in particular, has enough power to be considered among the "Top 10 Strongest Beings" using their full power. In fact, their coup d'etat against the Old Satan government succeeded partly due to Sirzechs and Ajuka's support. After the Evil Dragon War, due to their continuous and abnormal growth, the current Heavenly Dragons: Issei and Vali were nominated as Super Devil candidates. After the Hell Disaster, they were both officially certified as Super Devils after being approved by Zekram Bael. Furthermore, Hades' research created two Super Devils named Balberith and Verrine, but they haven't been certified by the underworld government.

    The Evil Pieces, also known as the Devil's Pieces (悪魔の駒, Akuma no Koma), are a set of 15 chess pieces given to High-class Devils to increase their ranks by reincarnating other beings into Devils

    The Evil Pieces were created by Ajuka Beelzebub sometime during the 16th century using the crystals available in the Agreas Island to help replenish the number of Devils after the Great War which had caused the death of countless Devils. While many Devils were able to adapt to the Evil Pieces, the Old Satan Faction rejected the usage of the Evil Pieces, believing them to be a disgrace to Devils for reincarnating Humans and other races into Devils. The creation of the Evil Pieces eventually lead to the creation of the Rating Game.[1]

    Evil Pieces are commonly given to Pure-blooded High-class Devils, so that they can gather servants of their own. Reincarnated Devils are also given the chance to receive Evil Pieces should they rise in rank and become a High-class or Ultimate-class Devil like Tannin and Rudiger Rosenkreutz.

    When a Devil receives the right to obtain the Evil Pieces they are required to go to the Satan's territory and touch a monument which functions as a replacement King Piece to register themselves as King.[2] A Devil who declines Evil Pieces can apply for them later. Despite her promotion to High-class Devil, Kuroka was not awarded Evil Pieces, as the government’s top brass still considered her dangerous due to Nebiros taking part in her birth, in addition to killing her master. If a King wishes to trade a Piece with another King, a ritual must be performed. A trading-purpose magic circle must be drawn. The Kings stand at the side of the magic circle while their pieces stand in the centre of it. The Kings increase their auras while putting their hands forward and activate the written Devil symbols to circulate. The auras of everyone around them begin to glow and synchronize, bypassing the magic circle. With that, the ritual will end and the trade is completed in a simple manner. A trade can still occur even if one of the pieces of the other party has not been used. It is also possible to trade multiple pieces simultaneously, even if they come from different peerages.

    Based on the game of chess, there are a total of 15 pieces (1 Queen ♛, 2 Rooks ♜, 2 Bishops ♝, 2 Knights ♞, and 8 Pawns ♟) that are given to High-class Devils (King ♚) with a peerage.[4] These pieces are used to reincarnate other beings into Devils and become servants of the High-class Devil.

    The Balance Breaker is initially considered a forbidden power by the Three Factions. It is known as the ultimate state of activation for a Sacred Gear.

    Balance Breaker is often triggered by high emotions combined with a change in the heart or spirit of the wielder.

    There is an incomplete state for Balance Breaker which is called Over Booster (オーバー・ブースター, Ōbā Būsutā).

    There are cases where a Sacred Gear user was born with the ability to use Balance Breaker, such as Tobio Ikuse. This is a rare occurrence among any type of Sacred Gear wielder, as most Sacred Gear wielders who were born with the ability to use Balance Breaker without needing to attain it died of or became unstable with their power. The Balance Breaker is the most powerful manifestation of all Sacred Gears in which the possessor's feelings trigger this evolution. Once reached, the Balance Breaker can be entered again far more easily than the first time. With proper training, it can be maintained for longer periods of time, as with the case of Vali Lucifer. While initially both Yuuto Kiba and Issei Hyoudou could only maintain it for short periods of time, undergoing intense training helped them improve this time. When first introduced, Vali could maintain his Balance Breaker for a month

    The Amamiya Residence is the home of Ren Amamiya and his parents. It would later become a base of operations for the allied factions in Volume 5, following the appearance of the Khaos Brigade.

    After its renovation, it also became the home for almost all the female members of the Occult Research Club. The Amamiya Residence was originally a normal two-story terrace house with a light blue exterior, a balcony on the second floor, and a brown roof. It would later be renovated by the Gremory Clan in Volume 5 of the light novels into a large, six-story house with three large basements. First Floor: Includes the living room and kitchen. Second Floor: Includes Ren's room, Asia's room, Rias' room, and a bathroom.

    First Floor: Includes guest rooms, the living room, kitchen, a bathroom, and Japanese-styled rooms (washitsu).

    Second Floor: Includes Ren's, Rias', and Asia's rooms, with Ren's room being in the middle. It has two interconnecting doors on each side: one connecting to Rias' room and one connecting to Asia's room.

    Third Floor: A study, and a storeroom.

    Fourth Floor: Includes Akeno's, Xenovia's, and Koneko's rooms.

    Fifth Floor: Not much is known about the fifth floor as of yet, probably includes Irina's, Rossweisse's and Ravel's rooms.

    Sixth Floor: Originally an empty floor, the top floor was converted into a meeting room for the Three Factions (also known as the VIP Room).

    Rooftop: The rooftop is a communal garden decorated with flower plots and there is a small vegetable farm planted. There is also a table and chairs to drink tea at.

    First Basement Floor: Includes a movie theater, training rooms, changing rooms, and a large indoor bath which has a refrigerator filled with three different flavors of milk (fruit milk, regular milk, and coffee milk). A hidden room on this floor also contains an assortment of baths of various sizes, but are noticeably larger than the first and are decorated gorgeously with ornate patterns, tropical plants, Dragon statues pouring water into the bath, and the Gremory's symbol.

    Second Basement Floor: Includes a heated indoor swimming pool.

    Third Basement Floor: A mostly vacant floor that is generally used for storage. It also includes a library.

    All floors in the renovated house are accessible via an elevator. There appear to be hidden rooms in the residence due to the designer of the house having a fondness for hidden rooms. Two of such are located in a corner that leads to a dead end on the first basement floor and at the corner of the bath. The other hidden rooms have yet to be discovered.
