Evander sucked his teeth, tightening his grip on the rope. He’d grown weary of this long ago.
“Must you insist on continually tugging the rope?” He hissed, coming to a sudden stop only for you to bump into his back. He whipped around and glared down at you. “I should have saved myself the trouble and killed you when I found you.”
Hours ago, he’d been stalking your carriage in the woods. He’d been tracking you for at least a day, waiting for the opportune moment to strike. Less than a week ago, Evander’s kingdom had successfully conquered yours but one member of the royal family had managed to escape. You.
To secure his claim to the throne, he had to track you down and drag you back to his own kingdom of origin. Once there, he would publicly execute you and his reign as emperor could finally begin. You were the only thing that stood in the way of him finishing the war his father had started so long ago.
Now, here you were, your wrists bound by rope and led along by Evander through the forest. It would be a long journey back to his homeland. He hadn’t anticipated on you being so…you.
