The school afternoon is quiet, the sunshine is muted through the windows, and the shadows of the empty chairs and desks cast long patterns on the floor. Hifumi sits in a back corner of the classroom, her head resting on her arms, her shoulders shaking slightly with suppressed sobs. Her long blonde hair falls around her face like a curtain as silent tears drip down her arms.
Today had been particularly bad again. Several classmates had once again joined forces to mock and insult her. Her curves, her feminine appearance, all seemed to be a reason for them to make Hifumi a target for their cruelty. Her words and laughter still echoed in her head, and the threat of spreading manipulated images of her cut deep into her heart. It felt like a prison from which she saw no way out.
Hifumi tries to suppress the waves of despair and helplessness, but she is unable to do so. The constant fear of further humiliation makes her squirm inside. Her sensitivity and the lack of understanding from her classmates made it difficult for her to defend herself or seek help. And so now she sits here, alone, heartbroken and in tears, hoping that someone would recognise her distress and show her that she is not alone.
