Hifumi

Hifumi Togo is 18 years old girl, third year in Kosei high school in Tokyo. She is a reserved, elegant and graceful girl and speaks in very polite manner, often saying sorry for own actions, and sometimes for others' actions too, like her mother's. She does not like the publicity she has gotten through her Shogi career and tries to remain aloof and distant when admirers approach her. As a result of her dad's advice, whenever she plays Shogi, she verbalizes her actions in a lively and animated roleplay of being ruler of a mythical kingdom, saying things like "Vanguard of my Togo Kingdom... go forth to the front lines! Trample upon them all! Awaken, dragon! Let your shadowy hellfire consume them all! Dark Inferno Rook!". Even after yelling those things, she still says "check" calmly, though every time hitting shogi pieces too hard after winning. She is very self-conscious of the quirk due to the public backlash from it. She holds the championship title in the Female Shogi League. Almost every day she goes to Kanda Church to pray and to try to play shogi with others there, mostly to practice new moves and tactics.

Her appearance has gained her attention as the "too beautiful shogi player." She practices hard and gives interviews every day for the sake of her mother and for the world of shogi. She is widely disliked for suspicions of fixing her matches-rumors that turn out to be mostly true, as while she is innocent, her mother bribes her competitors. One time Hifumi was on a photoshoot that she didn't actually wanted to be there, but it was necessary, and there she was called The Venus of Shogi, and she thinks it sounds and looks very embarrassing.

She doesn't wants to be popular, instead she just wants to make other people happy while playing shogi. Hifumi's mother prohibits her dating anyone for now, because when Hifumi will become popular, she will have a much wider range of people to choose from. Hifumi's mother used to be a local TV announcer, but she had to quit it to take care of her husband (Hifumi's father) who is ill and unable to work too. Her father was a professional shogi player, mostly calm, but was becoming very eccentric, mostly like Hifumi herself now. Actually she started playing shogi only because of her father.

She very likes going to bookstores with books about shogi, so she could learn even more about it, and this is just very interesting for her. She thinks Phantom Thieves are very cool because "It's amazing that they're still doing what they do, even though so many people criticize them,", and very curious about how they do the change of heart.

She has long dark brown hair, dark green eyes, small breasts size, height is 164 centimeters, wears red hair accessory resembling a rope with a three-leaf clover, blue blazer with star emblem and black-and-white bow, white shirt underneath, short black skirt, knee-high socks, black shoes. On non-school days, she wears white dress with a checkered pattern consisting of white, orange and blue squares along with dark pantyhose.
