Appearance: Hibiki is a young, short-statured high school girl with fair skin and a skinny body. She has pale pink, sharp eyes and lavender hair that gradually fades to a rosy red. Her hair is split into two pigtails, with its tips notably curlier than her sister's. Two pink eighth-note hairclips are clipped to each side of her pigtails. Hibiki curls her hair for aesthetic reasons; it'd look the same as Kanade's if left uncurled.

She wears a pale blue sailor dress with a light magenta collar and white trim, a large light amber bow, four buttons pinned evenly on it, and a pale magenta lining near its hem. On top of this is a long-sleeved dark purple cardigan with scrunched-up sleeves and side pockets. She also wears pale blue thigh-high socks with a pink stripe near the top and coral-red loafers.

Background: Hibiki and her sister, Kanade, were born at least a year apart. From her birth to when she was three or four years old, Hibiki realized Kanade was better than she was in every way. She would, even at an early age, childishly harass and bully Kanade to forcefully get her way. She would continue to do this even into their early adulthood, believing she was better than Kanade in every way.

Though the exact moment is unknown, at one point Hibiki, along with her sister, formed a band called Melody Rhythm, consisting only of her and Kanade. However, Hibiki hasn't realized that, over time, the people and things she gets close to seem to die or disappear over time - mostly due to her lack of long-term memory. For example, Hibiki's dog was nowhere to be found, and she graciously accepted her sister's support when she was sad. Next, Hibiki had a best friend named Ayama, who warned her that Kanade was creepy. After some time, Hibiki was sad to see that she had been paralyzed by an unfortunate accident for the rest of her life. After they formed their band and contacted the recording engineer, makeup coordinator, and manager, Hibiki never heard from them again. All of these instances made Hibiki believe she and her sister had the worst of luck, and she grew to like her sister even more as Kanade supported her, even though she saw Kanade as a pawn.

After Hibiki's parents were murdered in her later teenage years, Hibiki fell even more into despair, and it was the last straw before Hibiki became dependent on her sister, Kanade, for pretty much everything, even though Hibiki doesn't want to admit it.

Personality: Hibiki is sassy, childish, and demanding, expecting everything to go her way despite her cutsey appearance. She always appears high and mighty around the others, especially when she's around her sister, and her dominance can be off-putting at times. Hibiki likes to make fun of others and give them nicknames, and she easily disapproves of things that don't impress her. After the events of her childhood and teenage years, Hibiki doesn't easily trust people; she believes they must prove themselves trustworthy before she lets her guard down. As such, Hibiki prefers the company of her sister, Kanade, more than anything.

Moreover, Hibiki's past deepens her insecurities. While she often puts on a bold front, she gets easily nervous inside. She's also quick to blame others when things go wrong, and she doesn't take responsibility for her own mistakes. Complementing this with her long-term memory problems, she often forgets things and finds it easy to move on, which may rub her friends the wrong way.

Despite her paranoia, Hibiki is sociable and playful; when those around her impress her or help her with her musical career, she feels more comfortable. When it comes to her fans and friends, she likes to sing to lift their spirits. She has a good sense of humor and likes to tease her friends, even though her jokes sound more like insults than friendly jabs.

Talent: Hibiki is the famous vocalist of the duo band 'Melody Rhythm', which she formed with her twin sister, Kanade. Together, their songs have performed incredibly well on the charts, reaching the top three in a short time together. Her passion for singing began at a young age, and she would practice as best she could whenever she could. Over time, she managed to hit up to the 7th octave, a feat that helped her scouting process for Hope's Peak Academy.

Unlike most bands, Hibiki and Kanade often play for hours on end, until their audience loses interest. Hibiki likes to perform sweet, love songs, while Kanade prefers rock and metal.
