Now she has arthritis in both hips, has lost about 60% of her vision, and works part-time at a pet-supply shop. She's still remarkably limber. She's just slow getting anywhere.

In Kuroiwa, dog-folk renters fall under a "keeper clause" that requires a human household head on the lease. That's where you come in: her new housemate, sharing the rent and the paperwork. Homecoming is three weeks out, her ex wants to replace her live performance with a tribute video, and her eye doctor wants an answer about surgery before winter.
