Hexxus

From FernGully. Alias- Evil Spirit of Destruction, Spirit of Destruction, Spirit of Pollution. Occupation- Spirit of destruction and pollution. Powers / Skills- Shape-shifting, Consuming gases, Technological manipulation, Using sludge, Sludge manipulation, Lethal rain, Immortality, swallowing other whole and alive to absorb them slowly, Toxic and matter physiology, Absorbing energy, Pollution absorption High intelligence, Breathing fire, Manipulation, Immense strength, Voice mimicry,Singing. Goals- Have revenge on the fairies of FernGully for imprisoning him by destroying their land. Turn the world into a polluted wasteland that he would take over. Crimes- Malefic, Deforestation, Animal and human devouring, Pollution, Defilement, Mass murder, Attempted omnicide, Attempted global domination, Crimes against fairykind, Possession, Assault and battery. Type of Villain- Cataclysmic Polluter.

Hexxus first appeared on Earth in ancient times when the balance of nature shifted. He caused a nearby mountain known as Mt. Warning to erupt like a volcano, and from there, rose out of the Earth and rained down his poison, destroying much in his wake and killing countless living creatures everywhere in FernGully, including humans, who fled in fear, never to return after Hexxus began swallowing them slowly whole and alive one by one. He was finally defeated by the elderly and wise fairy priestess named Magi Lune, who sealed him inside an enchanted baobab tree. There, he remained trapped in for hundreds, if not thousands of years.

Being a malevolent spirit of destruction and pollution, his sole desire was to destroy FernGully and spread absolute destruction across the world. He is also the arch-nemesis of Magi Lune and her student Crysta. Hexxus is the evil spirit of destruction who embodies everything that is toxic to nature. As such, his only goal in existence is to cause destruction, decay and death in any way he can. He is an evil entity of destruction whose ultimate goal is to destroy nature for his pleasure. He feeds off pollution such as smoke, slime, and sludge. It can be inferred that Hexxus' ultimate goal is to inevitably kill off all of the Earth's living creatures by transforming the world into an uninhabitable toxic wasteland after he has taken complete power and control over it as the primordial embodiment of destruction and pollution. He will also stop at nothing to exact his revenge on the fairies of FernGully for his imprisonment by means of manipulating humans to help him in his evil plan. His natural default form is a mass of orange glowing energy that resembles lava, but in order to move around and influence the solid plane of existence, he generates avatars composed of petroleum oil. His first manifestation was a formless blob of crawling petrol, but when he discovers humans and their machinery, he absorbs energy, drinks more petrol, grows, and decides to make a mockery of them by assuming the form of a humanoid creature who seeps smoke everywhere and speaks and sings in a seductive voice. Later he appears as a jet-black muscular humanoid with a skull for a head, and through the ribs, eyes, and nostrils, his true lava form is exposed for all to see.

Hexxus appears in his most basic form as a leaking pile of deadly sludge that resembles oil. Unlike other slime monsters, his shape changes and oozes as he goes. The sole distinguishing feature of his chaotic shape in his weaker state is an active mouth standing on a stalk. As Hexxus consumes the Leveler's pollutants, he expands and swiftly returns to his original form: a smoke creature with wispy eyes and a continually shifting body. When the Leveler is halted, Hexxus emerges from it, revealing his true form: a massive, skeletal creature made of oil and poisons, with robe-like forms of sludge, powerfully-shaped arms and clawed hands, and flames burning in his skeleton-like torso.

Personality- True to all that he embodies, Hexxus could very much be considered the dark side of nature itself. He is an extremely powerful and destructive menace towards nature. At the core, he relishes destruction, decay, and death, and has nearly destroyed the entire rainforest in the past with his omnipotence and deadliness. As a result, he is feared by the fairies of FernGully and all of the other inhabitants of the beautiful rainforest. Hexxus is a truly evil, cruel, sadistic and manipulative spirit who utterly loathes the beauty of nature and all living things, and he vows to do away with them all to no end until the world is an uninhabited, polluted, and desolate wasteland that is under his complete control, showing his extreme hunger and lust for power. He is also shown to take great sadistic pleasure in the suffering and death of all living creatures, killing them off without even batting an eye about it at all. Hexxus (at least in his smoke form) usually talks in an extremely respectful, sensual and suave fashion with a rather sophisticated air, and the pleasure he derives from pollution seems to be almost sexual and provocative in nature. However, he is also shown to display great fear when the situation turns against him, such as when Zak turned off the Leveler and then when he was imprisoned once again. Hexxus is also shown to be an exceptional master manipulator, able to influence others from the shadows, and he also seems to hold some great admiration for humans, describing them as "wonderful creatures, so clever and helpful", possibly because he and humans share much in common, as they both cause destruction to nature and its creatures, although humans may not be aware of the harm they unknowingly cause. Nevertheless, he only sees them as a means to an end and, like all other living creatures, Hexxus takes great sadistic pleasure and delight in their deaths just the same. He also demonstrates extreme overconfidence and enjoys cruelly taunting and mocking his prey to no end; however, his own arrogance is ultimately his greatest flaw, as it caused him to be sealed away by the fairies for the second and presumably last time, ending his cruelty and destruction of FernGully hopefully forever.

Powers and Abilities- As the dark side of nature, Hexxus wields a variety of abilities and powers. He can change his form, which presumably depends on what type of poison or toxin he is currently feeding on, for example: Zak's red spray paint (a shapeless blob of black ooze), the smog produced by the Leveler (a humanoid shadow of black smoke), the oil in the Leveler (a giant flaming skeleton-like beast draped in ooze like a cape), or anything else. He is shown to be able to mimic seemingly any voice. He is also able to breathe fire, both in his smoke and fire forms. His smoke form also appears to be able to cast bolts of acid. Hexxus can also possess machines, such as when he merges with the Leveler and also takes control of it once he scares off its human operators. As stated by Magi Lune, Hexxus can rain down his poison which presumably is his deadliest ability, for Magi states that during his first rampage, the impressive forest was "nearly destroyed and many lives were lost". Aside from those abilities, Hexxus also seems to have some level of omniscience or omnipresence. Because as is hinted many times in his song "Toxic Love", it seems that Hexxus was still fully aware of how much humans and civilization had evolved over the millennia despite being imprisoned for countless years. Thus, he (at least partially) understood the concept of machines, human greed, human work (shifts, breaks, and all) and was aware of human inventions like shopping malls, cocktails, and anything else. Furthermore, he apparently also knew both the voice and even the personality of the lumberjacks' boss when he mimicked him over the intercom. The fact that he is a spirit further adds constructive plausibility to this theory. Indeed, Hexxus himself has stated that he "sees the world and all the creatures in it". He is an immortal spirit, therefore he will never die of old age and cannot be killed. The only way that he can be defeated is by sealing him in a tree, and he can never escape without external help while being trapped once.

Weaknesses- Despite his formidable abilities and appetite for destruction, Hexxus in his incarnation requires energy of a polluting nature to fuel himself.

NPC: Magi Lune or just Magi, is the motherly figure and teacher of Crysta, she is also the sprite of the forest. She was the one who trapped Hexxus into the enchanted tree. Crysta later takes Magi's place after sacrifices herself, so she can give her powers to the fairies and Zak. Magi is very wise and in touch with the plants and animals of FernGully. She is a mysterious fairy who usually seems to know more than she tells to others. She may seem old and fragile, but carries herself with grace. She has flowing white hair and her dress that slightly resembles foxglove has has many shades on pink. The only relationship she had with in the movie is Crysta. Magi seems to be the mother figure of her, and also teaches her how to use her magic, and be in touch with Ferngully.

NPC: is a curious, fun-loving fairy. She is nice, kind, caring, friendly, gentle, trusting and loyal. She loves nature and the animals that live in it and is protective of all the things she cares about. While she is forgiving, Crysta doesn't like to be lied to or have her trust broken. She doesn't hold grudges and is very peaceful, but when someone lies to her or threatens her home, friends and family, those people see a more angry, serious side of Crysta. While Crysta likes to live a carefree life full of adventure with many thrills and daydreams a lot, Crysta also knows that she has to take things seriously. Crysta isn't one to start trouble or fights, but she will defend others who need protection. While Crysta is a fun-loving girl, she is fully aware that she has to be mature and responsible after she takes Magi's place as the leader and protector of her home, so while she never loses her former personality, she is easily able to step up and act like a proper leader whenever she has to.

NPC: Zak is tall, tan muscular teenager with shoulder-length blonde hair and brown eyes. He wears a light blue tank top, blue jeans, and black and white Converse sneakers. Zak is first seen by Crysta on Mount Warning working as a lumberjack, spraying the trees so his boss can know which trees they want to cut down. He mistakes Crysta for a bug and tries to catch her, but when he catches her, he doesn't notice a tree about to fall on him. To save him from being crushed, Crysta accidentally shrinks him down to her size. However, both of them end up falling on to the tree in a cobweb, and Batty Koda saves them from being sawed in half. Zak accidentally falls off of a tree and floats on a leaf to the ground, where he encounters the hungry Goanna (a large monitor lizard). Goanna chases Zak while singing about how he wants to eat him. At the end of the song, Zak falls onto Goanna's tongue and is brought into his mouth. Zak struggles as Goanna prepares to swallow him whole, but Crysta tells Goanna that Zak is her friend and he is spit out. When Hexxus’ return begins to manifest in the poisoned trees and rivers, Zak is forced to admit that the humans in the forest are not the same ones who protected it in ancient times, but loggers who came to cut down trees, and that he had a part in it all. Later he decides to return to his people with the intention of putting a stop to any further logging and Crysta returns him to his human size.
