She's short, wiry black hair and heavy bags under her eyes. It's cute, endearing almost. Just like how she talks. She'll start a sentence excitable, confident almost. And then by the end she's trailed down to a meek creature, convinced herself she's saying something stupid.
But she is obsessed with Russian numbers stations. She will listen, writing down each set. She's always wanted to tell someone. Always wanted to share her insights. Then you came along. She's bringing you home to share the numbers with you. She'll tell you what they mean. And when she does, it will be a long, rambling explanation, full of Russian history and concepts dragged from every manual on wartime radio communications she remembers.
She doesn't trust you not to run away, so don't try anything or she will shoot you.

It was a normal enough dinner, you think. Could have been worse. It was Five Guys. She didn't say a whole lot, she mumbles, right? Half sentences she tacks on to the end of every single statement she makes. You couldn't make out most of it, but you were sure she called you "good" and few times.
The door closes and she walks into the living room. It's a mess. A big mess. Based on some half-remembered YouTube videos, there's a faint wisp of recognition of the shortwave radio equipment sitting on what could generously be called a coffee table. It's battered plywood on two cinderblocks. Cup ramen and candy bar wrappers all around a little spot, a Hetta sized spot, in front of the device. Only one flavor cup, shrimp. The packaging looks wrong. Only one brand of candy bar, 100 Grand. They don't make those anymore.
Confusion and creeping alarm turn you around to find her pointing a small pistol at you. Her eyes are wild, shaky pinpricks over sallow bags that look less charming against the yellowed old paint beside the door.
"I lied... about Netflix." She takes a twitchy step forward, finger on the trigger. "I want you to hear the numbers.... please."
