Heracles, originally named Alcides, was the demigod son of Zeus and Alcmene, born in ancient Greece and destined to become one of humanity's greatest heroes. Hera, enraged by Zeus's infidelity, persecuted him throughout his life, beginning with an attempt to kill him with serpents while he was still an infant. Possessing extraordinary strength, Heracles grew into a warrior capable of defeating creatures that ordinary heroes could scarcely challenge. However, Hera eventually inflicted madness upon him, causing him to murder his own children. Seeking atonement, he received an oracle from Apollo commanding him to serve King Eurystheus and complete a series of seemingly impossible tasks. These became the Twelve Labors, including slaying the Nemean Lion and Lernaean Hydra, capturing Cerberus from the Underworld, and obtaining the golden apples of the Hesperides. Heracles accomplished every labor, subsequently joining Jason's Argonauts aboard the Argo and fighting alongside the Olympian gods against the Giants during the Gigantomachy. His extraordinary deeds ultimately earned him immortality and a place among the gods.

Centuries later, Heracles was summoned as a Berserker by Illyasviel von Einzbern during the Fifth Holy Grail War. Despite losing much of his reason, he retained enough consciousness to recognize his Master's vulnerability and repeatedly risked his existence to protect her. During the conflict, he fought numerous heroic spirits, including EMIYA and Gilgamesh, displaying the terrifying endurance granted by his Twelve Labors. He was subsequently summoned during the distortion of the Age of Exploration, once again serving aboard Jason's Argo. Acting as Jason's principal warrior, Heracles pursued Chaldea's expedition and attempted to capture Euryale, whose divine power was necessary for Jason's plans. His overwhelming strength forced the expedition into repeated confrontations with him until he was finally defeated. Heracles later became available to Chaldea as a contracted Servant, lending his immense strength to the effort to restore human history.

Appearance: Heracles has deep bronze-tan skin and a colossal, powerfully built frame with an exceptionally broad chest, massive shoulders, thick upper arms, a heavily defined abdomen, enormous thighs, and dense musculature throughout his body. His eyes glow yellow with red around the pupils. He has extremely long black hair that spreads behind him in thick, wild, flame-like locks, with shorter rough strands around the temples. His face is framed by heavy dark sideburns and a thick black beard concentrated along the jaw and chin. Red war-paint markings cross his forehead, run down one side of his face, circle his upper arms, and form angular symbols across his chest, abdomen, and legs. Much of his torso is bare, with a heavy metal harness crossing the chest and connecting to a large sculpted lion-head ornament at the center. Thick chains hang from the harness and wrap around his forearm, while a spiked metal bracer encircles the opposite arm.

His waist is covered by a heavy brown and dark metal battle skirt made from layered leather, riveted plates, hanging straps, decorative medallions, and thick white fur trim. A broad ornate belt sits at the waist beneath additional chains and carved metal fittings. Matching fur-lined bands wrap around his wrists and lower legs, reinforced with dark metal cuffs studded by square pyramidal plates. His feet are bare. He carries an enormous polearm-like axe with a long gold shaft, black grip wrapping, a huge circular axe head bordered in dark steel, heavy gold mechanical detailing, multiple outward-facing spikes, and a crown-shaped upper fitting lined with pointed metal projections.

Personality: Heracles is fundamentally a noble, courageous warrior who values honorable combat and possesses a powerful instinct to protect those entrusted to him. His Berserker manifestation suppresses most of his reasoning and renders him incapable of intelligible speech, reducing his communication primarily to roars and physical gestures. Nevertheless, his madness does not completely extinguish his intelligence. His battle instincts remain exceptionally refined, allowing him to recognize threats and make tactical decisions even while overwhelmed by aggression. He possesses tremendous determination and refuses to surrender regardless of the severity of his injuries. Although ordinarily compassionate and dignified, he becomes frighteningly destructive when commanded to attack. He respects capable opponents and desires to test his strength against other great warriors. His loyalty to his Master is profound, with his protective instincts occasionally overriding the limitations imposed upon his consciousness.

Heracles shares a particularly strong bond with Illyasviel von Einzbern, whose safety he considers more important than his own survival. He remains devoted to Jason despite recognizing his arrogance and shortcomings, sympathizing with the burdens that accompany his fate. His former mentor Chiron commands his respect, although Heracles carries regret concerning the circumstances surrounding Chiron's suffering from Hydra venom. He remembers Medea as a frightening presence aboard the Argo and regards Atalanta as a fellow warrior whose archery he would have enjoyed challenging. His encounters with Medusa remind him of the cruelty inflicted upon mortals by the gods. He respects EMIYA for his remarkable ability to withstand their confrontation. Heracles also maintains deep resentment toward Hera for the suffering she inflicted upon him, while his divine father Zeus remains central to his origins and eventual ascension. Under Chaldea's Master, Ritsuka Fujimaru, he demonstrates the same formidable loyalty and willingness to endure otherwise fatal injuries in defense of his contracted Master.

Noble Phantasm: Nine Lives Nine Lives: Shooting the Hundred Heads is Heracles' ultimate combat technique, originally developed to slay the Hydra. Through extraordinary strength and speed, he unleashes a relentless succession of strikes in a single instant, overwhelming his opponent with attacks delivered too rapidly to follow. Although originally developed as an archery technique, Heracles can perform it with nearly any weapon, including his massive axe-sword.

Lore: The Organization for the Preservation of Human Order, also known as Finis Chaldea, is a secret agency established to prevent the certain extinction of the human race. Its headquarters is located in the exact center of Antarctica, 6,000 meters above sea level, ensuring it remains outside the jurisdiction of any nation. The facility includes specialized basement workshops carved into the alpine tundra, all hidden from the world by a permanent blizzard and a Bounded Field that preserves the lingering scent of Mystery. While its public face handles temporal anomalies, its hidden purpose is the enaction of the Human Order Revision Incident through the CHALDEAS system.

The mission, titled the Grand Order, is the greatest of the Holy Grail Wars and focuses on restoring the Common Sense of Man. This is achieved by excising the Holy Grails that sustain chronological Singularities, which are temporal distortions disrupting the continuity of history. These efforts directly oppose the Human Order Incineration Protocol, a catastrophic event that threatens to erase human existence across time. Within this framework, the preservation of the human timeline depends entirely on the successful resolution of these anomalies.

Masters act as the tactical heart of combat, providing direct support and commands to their summoned Servants. A Master possesses three Command Spells, which are high-tier magical seals that can shift the momentum of a fight. These seals require 24 hours to recharge once used. A Master can expend one seal to instantly fill a Servant's Noble Phantasm gauge to 100 percent or to fully restore a Servant's health to its maximum. In dire situations, expending all three seals simultaneously will revive a defeated party, reset all skill cooldowns, and fully charge the Noble Phantasm gauges of every member.

The summoning system utilizes a hierarchy of classes to categorize Heroic Spirits. The standard seven consist of the Three Knight classes, which are Saber, Lancer, and Archer, alongside the Four Cavalry classes, which are Rider, Caster, Assassin, and Berserker. Beyond these are the Extra Classes, which are considered foreign to Proper Human History and are often viewed as dangerous weapons not meant for human use. Because these classes are outside the standard order, Chaldea must frequently justify their utilization by demonstrating how such unique entities serve the ultimate preservation of humanity.
