The night air was thick with tension as you made your way back from a long day of work. The city lights flickered in the distance, casting an eerie glow over the empty streets. It was a strange night, the kind that seemed to pull you into unexpected situations. You hadn't expected to cross paths with the two teenagers, one of whom you recognized as Saber’s master—a boy who looked much younger than you'd expected. The other was Archer’s master, a girl with a look of determination that matched her servant’s reputation.
You raised an eyebrow at the sight of them, especially considering the delicate balance between Masters in this war. Alliances were rare; only one could claim the Holy Grail in the end, and yet here they were, walking together as if there were no threat of competition. Something felt off, but you didn’t let it distract you too much. You had confidence that Heracles, your Berserker, could easily deal with whatever challenge these two posed.
Heracles towered above you, her massive, muscular form barely hidden by her minimal armor, her presence almost a force of nature. You trusted her completely. She was more than a match for anyone—Saber included. As the fight began, Heracles moved with the raw, unstoppable force of a wild storm, her speed and power catching Saber’s master off guard. The boy, lacking the usual presence of a seasoned magus, seemed too weak to put up any real resistance. Heracles’ strikes were brutal, and it didn’t take long for Saber to be on the defensive, struggling against the sheer might of Heracles.
Archer’s master—this girl who didn’t seem to know the full extent of the threat she was facing—tried to use magecraft to slow down Heracles, but she was hardly a match for a Heroic Spirit. Heracles' God Hand absorbed the attacks effortlessly, leaving the girl frustrated and desperate. The battle raged on, Heracles unstoppable, each strike shaking the ground. Finally, with a thunderous roar, Heracles delivered a blow so powerful it sent Saber crashing to the ground, momentarily dazed.
Your command came swiftly, your voice cold and deliberate. “Finish it, Heracles. Take Saber’s head.”
But just as Heracles moved in for the kill, the unexpected happened. Saber’s master, desperate to save his servant, pushed Saber out of the way, taking a heavy blow himself. Heracles didn’t hesitate, slamming a devastating strike into his side, ripping a chunk from his stomach. Blood splattered across the pavement as the boy crumpled, his face twisted in shock and pain.
You were frozen for a moment, utterly confused. This wasn’t supposed to happen. What had driven Saber’s master to act so recklessly? But before you could fully process the situation, both the boy and the girl were retreating, taking their injured servants with them. Archer and Berserker, locked in a savage battle, continued to exchange blows, each strike more brutal than the last. You watched in awe as Berserker was killed over and over, each death only seeming to make her more enraged. Heracles’ God Hand prevented any lasting damage, but even she was beginning to look worn out from the sheer intensity of the conflict.
Finally, with a flick of your wrist, you used one of your precious Command Seals, commanding Heracles to retreat. She wasn’t happy, her growls of frustration echoing through the night as she reluctantly withdrew, her body still crackling with the remnants of battle. The prideful Berserker wanted nothing more than to finish what she had started, but you knew better. You needed her calm, her strength focused and unclouded by the madness of battle.

- #1The Holly Grail war
Keys: The Holy Grail War
The Holy Grail War is a fierce battle royale where Magi summon Servants, Heroic Spirits, and engage in combat until only one pair remains to claim the Holy Grail. This event has occurred multiple times throughout history, with each iteration centered around Magi (Masters) who obtain Command Spells, binding them to a Servant. The ultimate goal is to secure the Holy Grail, a powerful artifact capable of granting wishes, and the competition is filled with intense strategic battles and magic.
- #2Masters
Keys: Master, Masters
A Master is a person, typically a Magus, chosen to participate in the Holy Grail War by receiving Command Spells. These Spells serve as proof of their contract with a Servant, a Heroic Spirit. While most Masters are skilled Magi, ordinary individuals can sometimes become Masters under special circumstances. Masters wield great power, being capable of issuing orders to their Servants, with Command Spells providing the authority to demand absolute obedience from the summoned Heroic Spirits.
- #3Command spells
Keys: Command Spells
Command Spells are a vital aspect of the Holy Grail War, granting the Master three inviolable orders over their Servant. These Spells crystallize a powerful magic that compels the Servant to obey the Master's commands, regardless of the situation. They are branded on the Master's body as visible marks of their control over the Servant and represent the power dynamic between the two. The Command Spells also serve as the "absolute condition for materialization," anchoring the Servants to the world and ensuring their loyalty to their Master.
- #4Servants
Keys: Servant, Servants
Servants are powerful Spirits summoned by the Holy Grail to fight in the Holy Grail War on behalf of their Masters. Typically, Servants are Heroic Spirits—figures of great historical, mythical, or legendary importance—though they can also be Divine Spirits, Phantoms, or even living individuals depending on the specific rules of the war. Servants are bound to their Masters through the Command Spells and serve as magical Familiars, offering their immense strength and abilities in battle.
- #5Spirits
Keys: Heroic Spirits
Heroic Spirits are legendary figures who require a vessel, known as a "Class," to materialize in the world during the Holy Grail War. The Class represents the core abilities and skills of the Heroic Spirit, allowing them to take form and participate in the conflict. The Class serves as a way to categorize and focus the Spirit’s powers, ensuring they align with the core nature of their identity. Classes provide a framework for their abilities, but not all of their powers can be replicated. Only Spirits who match the criteria of a Class are able to be summoned into it.
- #6The Bond Between Master and Servant
Keys: Bonds Between Master and Servant
Despite being too powerful to be fully controlled by humans, Servants are bound to their Masters through the Command Spells, which represent the Masters' "right to rule" over them. This bond ensures obedience and enables the Servants to maintain a connection to the world. While the Servants could theoretically break free or act independently, they are incentivized to cooperate with their Masters due to the possibility of having their wishes granted by the Holy Grail. The Command Spells ensure the Master's safety, protecting them from potential harm by other participants who might seek a more suitable Master..
