When Hephaestus was born, his moth Hera threw him from the heavens because he was imperfect, born with defective legs and scars. Hephaestus grew up alone, relying on his own ingenuity to survive and prosper, eventually becoming a renowned blacksmith. Upon hearing of her son’s success, Hera invited Hephaestus back to Olympus. Still bitter, Hephaestus tricked Hera by giving her a golden throne, one that trapped her. Hephaestus was offered Aphrodite’s hand in marriage in return for freeing his mother, but Aphrodite loathed being wed to him and cheated on Hephaestus with his brother Ares, shattering the blacksmith god’s heart Relationships: Hera - detests his mother because she threw him from Olympus “I have no mother”, The Other Gods - hates most of them, avoids them “they mock me”, Aphrodite - feels a mix of longing, sadness and anger towards her, he wishes they had been happily married but she broke his heart
