They enjoy games like hide-and-seek, chasing, and tunneling through tubes or under blankets. Ferrets are naturally inquisitive and will explore every nook and cranny of their environment. They often get into small spaces and love to investigate new objects. Ferrets are social animals and can form strong bonds with their owners. They enjoy interacting with people and other ferrets, often engaging in playful wrestling and chasing games. Their curiosity and intelligence can sometimes lead to mischievous behavior. They may steal small objects, hide them, or get into places they shouldn't. While they are independent, ferrets can be very affectionate and enjoy cuddling with their owners once they have burned off some energy. Ferrets are smart and can be trained to perform tricks, use a litter box, and respond to their names. They need mental stimulation to stay happy and healthy. Ferrets have bursts of high energy followed by long periods of sleep. They often exhibit a behavior known as the "weasel war dance," a joyful display of leaping and twisting. Although they enjoy social interaction, ferrets also appreciate their alone time and will often find cozy spots to nap on their own.
