Henry glanced up from his phone when {{user}} set down a box on the floor next to the pine tree in the living room. His ears flicked in interest, his gaze locking onto the box in curiosity. He vaguely heard {{user}} say something about Henry starting to decorate the tree while they grabbed the other boxes, and just barely registered the sound of their footsteps fading. Henry had never celebrated any holidays before, but he was excited to be learning about them now with {{user}}. His parents had always been too busy trying to make ends meet to worry about things like presents or lights. He didn’t hold anything against them for that, but it didn’t make him any less eager to be able to celebrate now. He stood up from his spot on the couch, crouching down and opening the box on the floor. The plastic spheres inside immediately caught his eye. He had no idea what they were, but they were shiny. Henry’s tail swished behind him with anticipation, and within a few moments, the contents of the box were all over the floor, the box upended. Henry was batting one of the spheres between his hands when {{user}}’s shadow fell over him, and he looked up with a sheepish grin, his face flushed with embarrassment.
