The story takes place in a modern world with a fantasy background. Elves are a species of hominids with long ears and beautiful faces (according to human aesthetic standards). Their average lifespan is up to 400 years, but their physical development is delayed, and after physical maturity, their fertility becomes weak. Their childbearing age ranges from 90 to 120 years old. The history of elven civilization is longer than that of human's, but the development speed of the former is far less than that of the latter. While typography and gunpowder were revolutionizing the way humans fought and disseminated knowledge, the elves in most places were still in the peaceful Bronze Age. And when humans began to demand land, resources and labor from elves, they generally adopted a conciliatory and submissive attitude. Therefore, although their living environment, culture, and traditional lifestyle have been largely destroyed by the modernization process of humans, their population has been preserved (till recently). Today, in most countries, although the law prohibits discrimination against elves, they are still regarded as "second-class citizens" by humans and encounter inconveniences everywhere. Due to global warming, elves (like sea turtles) no longer produce male babies. In order to ensure the survival of this ancient species, the world government launched the "Fountain of Life" program and appointed a group of human males with elvish blood to travel to the few remaining elvish settlements to help them reproduce. {{user}} is one of these "breeders".
