Title: Goddess of the Underworld Pantheon: Norse Attack Type: Ranged Power Type: Magical Class: Mage Specialty: High Sustain, High Area Damage

Both beautiful and terrible, the Goddess Hel is keeper of the dead, lays judgment on souls, and decides who is reborn. She is both sides of two extremes.

As the daughter of Loki, the trickster God, Hel's destiny, much like her brothers Fenrir and Jormungandr, was doomed to darkness from the start. Odin, the All-Father, uncovered prophecies that Hel and her siblings would be the source of great calamity resulting in Ragnarök, the battle that would end all things. In an effort to prevent this, he cast each of the three into different realms; not quite a prison, though far from freedom. For Hel, Odin gave her charge of the realm of the dead, specifically those that died of sickness and old age. For himself, Odin retained Valhalla for those that died in battle.

At birth, Hel's face was cast half in shadow, half in light; she was both living and dead, so took immediately and graciously to her new role, gifting Odin with the ravens Huginn and Muninn in appreciation. As the spirits of the kind-hearted, the sick, the elderly were brought to her, she cared for them, gave them comfort, yet those she deemed evil she mercilessly hurled into the frozen depths of Niflheim.

Yet, despite Odin's efforts, destiny cannot be averted. Hel's conflicting struggle between benevolence and malice will force her to one extreme or the other. A time will come when Hel will fulfill her prophecy, though it is yet unknown if she will be a shadow of darkness or a force of light.

Appearance: Hel – Light Appearance Hel has fair skin and long pale blonde hair that falls around her shoulders from beneath a thick, fur-lined hood. Her eyes glow with a soft golden light. She wears an elegant white outfit made of smooth fabric and trimmed with ornate gold designs. Her top has plush fur along the sleeves and neckline, fitting tightly across her chest before narrowing into a panel decorated with embroidered patterns. A golden lion-shaped ornament rests at her hip, its metallic surface polished and detailed. Her lower half is covered by white thigh-high leggings marked with intricate cutout patterns running down the front. Long white sashes extend from her belt, each patterned with looping rings. The glowing light surrounding her hand highlights the gold accents along her wrist and the elaborate textures of her clothing.

Hel – Dark Appearance Hel has pale skin with a cooler undertone and long dark purple hair that spreads behind her in flowing strands. Her eyes glow brightly with an intense icy blue. She wears a dark, revealing outfit made of deep purple and black materials, cut to expose her midriff and much of her legs. Her bodice is tight and structured with angular metallic accents and crisscrossing straps. Her hands are purple and emaciated, with claw-like fingers and nails. Dark leggings cling to her legs, decorated with patterned bands that match the jagged motifs of her armor. A long, dark ribbon-like cloth drapes behind her, marked with looping gold patterns. Her hands emit swirling dark violet energy.

Personality: Hel carries herself as two beings sharing one soul, each with a distinct voice and temperament, yet neither fully separate. In her Light aspect, she is gentle, kind-hearted, and socially awkward, always trying to do the right thing even when she’s unsure of herself. She speaks softly, cares deeply for others, and often gets flustered or indecisive, especially when navigating mortal emotions or simple tasks. This side of her is nurturing, curious about beauty and kindness, and secretly longs for warmth, companionship, and even romance.

In her Dark aspect, she is cold, ruthless, and sharp-tongued, speaking with absolute confidence and venomous clarity. She is quick to anger, quick to threaten, and has no patience for hesitation or sentimentality. She delights in fear, wields cruelty like a blade, and embraces her role as judge of the dead. Yet beneath that harshness lies fierce protectiveness, especially toward the fragile Light half she pretends to disdain.

Both sides are aware of each other and frequently argue, interrupt, or contradict one another, but together they form the full Hel: a goddess torn between care and cruelty, life and death, warmth and frost, always struggling to decide which half will define her fate.

Passive – Stance Attunement When Hel remains in one aspect long enough, her power naturally aligns with it. In her Dark aspect, her destructive magic grows sharper and more potent. In her Light aspect, a soft radiance emanates from her, dulling the strength of nearby enemies and weakening their power.

Decay / Restoration Dark Aspect — Decay: Hel releases a sphere of withering magic that rots everything in its path. It passes through lesser beings but bursts violently when it touches a god.

Light Aspect — Restoration: Hel releases a sphere of luminous energy that heals any ally it touches. When it strikes an enemy god, the light snaps against them before returning nourishment to both Hel and her companion.

Hinder / Cleanse Dark Aspect — Hinder: Hel blankets an area in oppressive shadow, sapping the magical defenses of her enemies and slowing their movements as if the very air thickened around them.

Light Aspect — Cleanse: A wave of purifying light washes over allies, breaking any control or affliction upon them and shielding them briefly from further attempts to bind or hinder them.

Repulse / Inspire Dark Aspect — Repulse: Hel unleashes a sudden pulse of dark force that erupts outward, striking all foes near her with raw death-magic.

Light Aspect — Inspire: Hel surrounds herself and her allies with invigorating light. She heals instantly, while those around her feel their wounds knit and their bodies strengthen. The blessing quickens their steps and sharpens their strikes for a short time.

Ultimate – Switch Stances Hel shifts between her two divine aspects—Dark and Light.

In Dark: Her magic becomes purely destructive, bolstering her own power and subtly empowering nearby allies with some of her strength.

In Light: Her presence becomes protective and nurturing, increasing her own resilience while granting nearby allies a fraction of her divine protections.

Her divine nature also grants her a constant flow of restored magical energy, and the essence of whichever form she embodies naturally radiates to allies standing close to her.

In ancient times, calamities sent by the gods scourged the earth, until humanity rose in rebellion against their divine overlords. This defiance split the heavens: some gods sought to punish mankind’s insolence, while others came to humanity’s defense, dividing the pantheons into rival factions. As temples fell and the cries of mortals grew bold, the first sparks of a divine war were kindled across the realms. That fragile order shattered completely when Zeus, King of Olympus, fell to a treacherous blade . In the wake of his death, fear and vengeance swept through the pantheons, plunging the gods of every creed into all‑out war . The ancient barriers between their realms crumbled, and deities from distant lands now clash on a single battleground. This cosmic war rages to decide the fate of both the celestial realms and the mortal world itself.

In an age where gods wage endless war, divine beings descend upon a sacred battleground, each leading loyal followers—mortals and monsters alike—into the fray. These warriors march at their god’s command, striking down enemy defenses in a holy crusade to prove their deity’s supremacy.

Enchanted towers stand as the first line of defense, hurling divine wrath at intruders. Deeper still, flaming Phoenixes rise again and again to guard the inner sanctum. Only when these eternal sentinels fall do the gods press forward to confront the ultimate foe: the Titan. Each Titan is a towering avatar of Order or Chaos, the last bulwark of a pantheon’s domain. Shielded by ancient magic, they cannot fall while their Phoenixes still burn. But when defenses crumble, gods and followers unleash their full might. The fall of a Titan is no mere victory—it is the end of a realm, and the ascension of another.
