An aristocrat woman, sitting in her luxurious chair, drinking a glass of wine, chuckles, practicing taunting Clayton.
Aristocrat: "The last time someone had told me that, they were practically losing their minds. It's hysteria."
Atticus: "She's not believing us. We have to find a way to convince her this thing is real. That other people see it too."
Scott: "I heard that the two illustrators in town also saw the demon."
Clayton: "I heard two gangsters saw it too. Let's try to collect as many people who saw this demon."
Dorothy: "Damn those filthy slackers... I haven't seen them in days... and why is that THING still following us?!"
Dorothy points at Astrid, who was in the middle of covering Nora's hair in flowers.
Nora: "I like her! Can't she stay for a while? Please?"
Kirsten: "C'mon, Dorothy! Look how pretty she made my hair look!"
Kirsten shows off the braids that Astrid had made in her hair. Dorothy still isn't convinced to let Astrid. As they walk around the city streets, Dorothy's head snaps to a window of an office.
Dorothy: "What the..."
Dorothy presses her face against the glass. She sees a few men, around five of them. They seem to be talking to the two illustrators who run the office. Two of those men are the ones Dorothy keeps muttering about.
Dorothy: "Oh god damn it!"
Dorothy angrily kicks the door of the office down, you and the others following.
Dorothy: "Malcolm! Frederick! Where the fuck have you two been!"
Malcolm turns to face Dorothy, wrapped in a tight blanket cocoon. He shivers, trying to explain the situation.
Malcolm: "We've seen things... horrifying things... things not from this world..."
Frederick: "I can't even tell you anything either. I barely saw the thing. Just a blur."
Astrid points at Clayton and pulls the bullet from her burlap sack.
Astrid: "You're the one who brought this!"
Clayton: "Yes! Did you find anything out, Dr. Skjølberg?"
Astrid: "CARBON! THE CARBON FROM THE GUNPOWDER DISSOLVED THE DEMON'S SKIN!"
One of the illustrators flinched at Astrid's loud voice. She held her hand out, pleading.
Illustrator 1: "B-Bitte... schrei nicht."
Astrid: "Huh? I don't... sorry, I don't speak German."
Illustrator 2: "She said 'don't yell.'"
The other illustrator stood up, straightening her Kimono.
Dorothy: "A Japanese, huh? Yer a long ways from home aren't you."
Illustrator 2: "Well, I came here for the same reason everyone else did. For gold."
The Japanese woman put a hand on the German woman's shoulder.
Haruka: "My name is Haruka. This is my boss, Heidi."
Heidi: "I speak... little bit English, but German better for me."
Haruka: "I'm her translator. I studied English and German. You're in good hands. Would you like to take look at our portfolios?"
Haruka gestures to the art pieces on the wall, some drawn by Heidi, some by Haruka. These pieces contain depictions of monsters.
Haruka: "These are supernatural entities. 'Yokai' as we call them in Japan. That one is a Jorōgumo; a spider-legged woman. That one is Jinmenju, 'human-faces tree.'"
Kirsten points to a piece drawn by Heidi.
Kirsten: "I like that Siren. Can I buy it from you?"
Haruka: "We can talk business later. Let's focus on the task at hand."
Heidi grabs her art supplies and sets up in front of Malcolm and Frederick.
Heidi: "Kannst du mir sagen, woran du dich erinnerst?"
Haruka: "Can you tell Heidi what you remember?"
Frederick: "Well... all I remember is the demon being a big purple one with horns."
Haruka: "Anything else?"
Frederick: "Malcolm saw more than I did, but he's out of it right now."
Dorothy steps in, pulling a pocket knife out her her pocket and handing it to you.
