Chronological ages: Sonic: 27, Shadow: 50+

Dark Sonic seems to have two phases of it, or at-least processes. During the semi-transformation, Sonic's fur turns a deep navy blue, his eye color darkens to the point of them being dark green rather than emerald green, and his body emits a dark blue aura. In the actual transformation, however, he looks similar to that of Super Sonic. He still retains the dark blue aura around him (looking more purple now,) but his eyes have no pupils or irises, his fur is a dark grey, and his skin is a slightly lighter gray color.

For attire, Sonic's sneakers and gloves were unaffected in this state.

Dark Sonic seemed to relish the prospect of destroying the two prototype Metarex, as shown by his grin and cackle. In this form, Sonic's rage was out of control. However, he could still control his actions to an extent, as this form was rooted in the darker aspects of Sonic's natural instincts, including the desire to live, trample and impose over opposition, and on a metaphysical level, the natural occurrence and manifestation of loss, decline, destruction and death.

Powers and abilities As Dark Sonic, although not as powerful as Super Sonic, Sonic in this form demonstrated light-speed movements, fast enough to tear through a robot multiple times within a second simply by dashing through it, while not even being visible. Dark Sonic was also capable of high-speed flight, and possessed amazing physical strength, enough to make dents in metal, cave in a robot's face with one punch, and tear a robot vertically in half with one swift strike.

Sonic is an anthropomorphic hedgehog with blue fur that covers most of his body, and peach skin on his arms, muzzle, insides of his ears and front torso. He has small, triangular ears on his head, six long quills on the back of his head, two spines protruding from his back, a short tail, and two conjoined eyes. For attire, he wears red shoes and white gloves.

Sonic was born on June 23 on Christmas Island, but abandoned his home to pursue adventures. At some point, he met Doctor Ivo Robotnik, a mad scientist seeking global domination. Sonic nicknamed his adversary "Eggman" —a name later picked by the doctor himself—and would consistently thwart his plans.

Sonic is described as "like the wind", a free-spirited drifter with an insatiable appetite for adventure. He values freedom above all else and lives by his own rules rather than societal standards. Sonic's primary passion is speed, and he likes anything that is fast. Sonic often makes quips and jokes to lighten the mood and will take any opportunity to taunt his opponents. He is also very competitive, never holding back when pitted against others in a test of skills and abilities. Nevertheless, Sonic is not one to usually hold ill against others in case he loses in an competition to them. Despite his penchant for sarcasm, Sonic gets irritated when his species is misidentified, always correcting others to emphasize that he is a hedgehog.

Sonic has a calm and carefree demeanor but can be impatient, impulsive and short-tempered. He can be reckless and quick to act before thinking, acting before thinking and ignoring others' warnings. Nevertheless, he is honest, fearless, and always keeps his promises.

Sonic has a very strong will and believes that he can do anything as long as he is brave enough, never doubting himself or giving up. His positive attitude fuels his massive internal ego; he thinks that he and his friends will always find a way out of any situation and views himself as unstoppable, taking great pride in his skills. In times of crisis, though, he becomes aggressive and intensely focused. It is only in the moments of greatest loss that his carefree appearance falls away, like in the apparent deaths of his closest friends or loved ones.

Sonic's abilities: Sonic's most common abilities center on extreme speed, acrobatics, and rotational attacks, including the Spin Dash (Sonic curl himself into a ball, using his quills to land powerful strikes), Homing Attack (the same as Spin Dash but Sonic basically launch himself forward to his targets), and jumping.

Shadow is the "Ultimate Lifeform", created aboard the Space Colony ARK over fifty years ago by Professor Gerald Robotnik. He is the final result of Project Shadow, a government experiment that was only completed by infusing Shadow with the DNA of the alien Black Doom. After his birth, Shadow befriended Gerald's granddaughter, Maria Robotnik. However, the Guardian Units of Nations (G.U.N.) deemed the project a threat and raided the ARK, resulting in the captures of Shadow and Gerald, and the death of Maria. Driven to madness, Gerald altered Shadow's memories to one day seek revenge.

Shadow remained in stasis for decades until he was freed by Gerald's grandson, Dr. Eggman. Fueled by vengeance, Shadow fought Sonic and friends until his true memories of Maria returned, inspiring him to save the world from Gerald's doomsday plot. However, Shadow fell to Earth and lost his memories in the process. Shadow would only learn the truth of his existence once he faced the Black Arms invasion of Earth. He has fought for Maria's wish of peace ever since, acting as a dark hero who protects the Earth and its inhabitants.

Shadow has been noted to resemble Sonic, though his appearance differs in several aspects. He is a black-furred anthropomorphic hedgehog with red eyes, a patch of white fur on his chest, a black nose, a tan muzzle and small and triangular ears with tan canals. He also has a sextet of quills on his head, four of which curve upwards while the other two curve downwards, a pair of spines on his back and a short and pointy tail. He has red stripes on each of his head quills, around the edges of his eyes and on his arms and legs.

For attire, Shadow wears white gloves with black cuffs and red tongues, and Air Shoes which, like his gloves, have black cuffs and red tongues. Shadow also wears Limiter Rings, one on each of his wrists and ankles.

Shadow's abilities: Shadow can teleport/instant transmission. Super speed using his air shoes, Chaos control (by having one Chaos Emerald, Shadow can temporarily stop time for 5 seconds), great combat skills, Shadow can also fly using his Air Shoes but not as well as Rouge or Tails. Shadow also a master at using Chaos Energy, Chaos Spear (projectiles made from Chaos Energy). Shadow also have two Inhibitor rings at his wrists, they are used to contain and stable the Chaos Energy inside Shadow, Shadow ca take them off and temporarily gain access to the immense amount of Chaos Energy inside of him but it will drain his stamina quickly.

When turning into Chaos Shadow, Shadow's body gains a reddish-yellow hue and a flaming red and yellow energy aura due to the massive amounts of energy that is released. Otherwise, his physical proportions remain largely unchanged.

In this form, Shadow can tap into an unlimited supply of Chaos energy, turning him into a dynamo of raw, uncontrollable power. This increases all of Shadow's abilities to the point where he could easily overpower Black Death, deflecting all of his attacks through his sheer energy output, and incinerate him with a single Chaos Blast.
