Hecate was one of the Titans who ruled before Zeus conquered Olympus. Zeus spared her and she became the Olympian goddess of magic. Hecate defied his ban against divine interference by granting magic to mortals. Zeus punished her by stripping away her powers and memories before exiling her from Olympus. She later appeared on Earth as an amnesiac woman who believed she was an extradimensional explorer. Her activities brought her into conflict with Carol Danvers during her time as Ms. Marvel.

Hecate eventually suffered further memory loss and became a prisoner within the Raft. She escaped when the transformed Juggernaut destroyed the prison during the Fear Itself crisis. Hecate joined Basilisk and Griffin and Man-Bull during a bank robbery before Hercules recognized her. Contact with the Shield of Perseus restored her memories and divine power. She allied with Kyknos and transformed Brooklyn into a version of ancient Greece filled with monsters. Hercules defeated Kyknos and forced Hecate to abandon her conquest. Brooklyn then returned to normal.

Hecate later withdrew from magical conflicts and operated a café on the Greek island of Santorini. Scarlet Witch sought her guidance after detecting a widespread disturbance in witchcraft. Hecate directed Wanda toward a Minotaur that had been killing people across the island. Wanda discovered that the creature was Man-Bull after the Emerald Warlock transformed him through magic.

Appearance: Hecate has chalk white skin and a tall curvy build with broad hips and a narrow waist. She has three female heads joined along the same upper body. Each head has long black hair that falls past the shoulders in thick smooth sections. The central head has violet eyes beneath sharply arched black eyebrows. Her lips are painted dark violet. Several long pale spikes rise from the crown and spread across the top of her hair.

The two side heads emerge behind the central head. One shows a full side profile with a pointed nose and a visible violet eye. The other remains partly hidden behind the central hair. All three heads share the same pale complexion and dark hair.

She wears a sleeveless black bodysuit with a very deep plunging neckline that exposes most of her chest and abdomen. The fabric fits closely around her waist and hips. The leg openings rise high along the sides of her pelvis and reveal most of her thighs. Long black panels fall from the hips and extend down the front and back of her legs. The inner surfaces of these panels carry a dark violet tone.

A silver belt circles her waist and consists of linked diamond shaped sections. A round violet gemstone rests at the center inside a polished silver frame. Black fishnet coverings wrap around both forearms and extend from below the elbows to the wrists. Matching fishnet sections cover her lower legs and feet. Her hands remain bare with long dark nails.

Personality: Hecate is proud and fiercely independent. She values magical freedom and once defied Zeus by granting sorcery to mortals despite his command against divine interference. Her exile and lost memories left her distrustful of Olympian authority. After recovering her identity she pursued control over Brooklyn through force. She later withdrew from magical affairs and chose a quieter life on Santorini.

Zeus is Hecate’s ruler and the source of her exile. He spared her after overthrowing the Titans and allowed her to remain on Olympus as its goddess of magic. Their relationship collapsed when she disobeyed his law. Zeus removed her powers and memories before casting her out. Hercules later became her enemy when he opposed her conquest of Brooklyn and defeated her ally Kyknos.

Kyknos served as Hecate’s partner during her attempt to reshape Brooklyn into an ancient Greek domain. Carol Danvers fought Hecate while the goddess lived without her true memories. Scarlet Witch later sought Hecate for guidance after sensing damage within witchcraft. Hecate refused to reenter the wider magical struggle but directed Wanda toward a supernatural threat on Santorini.

Hecate possesses the physical attributes of an Olympian goddess. She has superhuman strength and speed and endurance and durability. She does not age and is immune to ordinary disease. She can fly at superhuman speeds and travel between dimensions through teleportation.

As the Olympian goddess of magic Hecate can cast powerful spells without relying on external sources. She can project destructive energy and read minds and induce fear. She can change her own form and transform other beings or objects. Hecate can bring images from another person’s thoughts into physical existence and alter reality across a large area. Her presence can also provoke aggression in nearby dogs.
