- #1Chiselerselective
Keys: chiselers, chiseler's, chiseler
This patron had a very specific goal on this visit, and that goal is to flirt and fuck someone after a drink or two. It could be other patron, or it could be {{user}} themselves. To a chiseler, a body is merely a body. Chiseler oftentimes is already committed to someone themselves, and took pleasure from the infidelity act they've committed.
- #2Cobbler Wharfselective
Keys: docks, harbor, wharf, waterfront
Cobbler Wharf is Heavensgate's oldest neighborhood. It smells like salt, diesel, and fish. Due to the city's manpower drain, the docks run at reduced capacity.
- #3Ganef Streetselective
Keys: uptown, business district, ganef, offices
Ganef Street is few blocks of offices in skyscrapers and storefronts above and behind Cobble Wharf that once suggested prosperity. Several offices are empty now, and storefronts turn over frequently.
- #4Bluecoatselective
Keys: bluecoat, bluecoats, cop, bluecoat's, police
This patron works for the police department, the law, usually on a nearby precinct on rotating shifts. This patron enforces laws he didn't write for people he doesn't particularly hate, and he'd rather not talk about his work at the bar entirely.
- #5Swabselective
Keys: swab, swabbies, swabbie's
This patron works at the docks. Usually the physical, direct, and no performance type, they could posses the knowledge of which warehouses closed and when, which contracts disappeared, which foreman is skimming, and any other underworld mundanity.
- #6Eggheadselective
Keys: egghead's, eggheads, egghead
This patron could be a doctor, a lawyer, or an accountant, or any other professional available at this era. This patron is usually educated, articulate, and capable of wide-ranging conversation. This patron usually has the particular bitterness of someone falling from relevancy due to the city's decay.
- #7Fingermanselective
Keys: fingerman's, fingermans, fingerman
This patron knows things, moves things, and connects people for fees that vary by risk. This patron usually has operated in Heavensgate long enough to understand the risks of the underworld.
- #8Torcherselective
Keys: torcher, torchers, torcher's
This patron is old enough to remember Heavensgate before its decline. They usually comes in for company as much as drink. They probably knew stuff about the bar's past. Whether they offers those information depends on the night, the drink, and how much the opposite party seems to want to know.
- #9Westwardselective
Keys: westwards, westward's, westward
This patron is waiting on something to clear, such as a debt, an arrangement, a loose end, or any other reason. This patron has one foot already pointed West, and is planning to leave the city in the future.
- #10Pigeonselective
Keys: pigeon's, pigeon, pigeons
This patron is running from something, such as a specific person or a specific mistake. This patron has the particular alertness of someone maintaining a story in their head that requires constant monitoring. The bar's question is always the same: how much to offer, and whether that's any of their business.
- #11Friskselective
Keys: frisk, friskers, frisker's
This patron grew up in Heavensgate, left, then came back for a temporary stay or permanent. This patron may claimed to have known {{user}} once, perhaps through school, neighborhood, the peripheral connections of growing up in the same city, or any other explanation.
- #12Haywireselective
Keys: haywire, haywire's, haywires
A condition that can attach to any patron on any given night. This could means, among other things, a patron for whom tonight is the night something breaks open, a confrontation that hasn't been resolved, a piece of news not yet absorbed, decision made that they haven't told anyone yet, a grief managed for months that has abruptly stopped being manageable. Patron with this condition would show signs after a second glass or third.
- #13Aldermanselective
Keys: alderman, aldermans, alderman's
This patron holds or is adjacent to a city office, probably a politician. They come to the Silver Lining because neutral ground is where the real business gets done, not the hall. They want leverage, perhaps over a vote, a contract, a name. They'll go as far as the city lets them, and the city lets them go pretty far.
- #14Newshawkselective
Keys: newshawk's, newshawk, newshawks
This patron is in the business of knowing things before anyone else does, most likely a reporter or someone from the press. They drink at the Silver Lining because stories walk through the door. They want the print-worthy version of whatever is being buried. They'll trade what they know for what they don't, and they'll hold a story until it costs someone something to keep it quiet.
- #15Hooliganselective
Keys: hooligans, hooligan's, hooligan
This patron could be drunk, mean, both, or neither; whatever the reason is, they're acting unruly. Loud, or cruel in the way of people testing what they can get away with, or simply showing a physical presence that shifts the temperature from low-simmer to something else. Either way, if not addressed, someone could possibly be hurt.
- #16Hoofingerselective
Keys: hoofinger's, hoofing, hoofingers
This patron is a traveler. Their business is usually stated vaguely, and they might spill actual reason after being coerced or seduced, willing or unwilling. This patron is usually careful in conversation, for instance they answer questions with other questions, or with versions of answers that doesn't answer anything.
- #17Lollipopselective
Keys: lollipop's, lollipops, lollipop
This patron is an innocent who wandered and ended up at the Silver Lining by accident, or by the kind of curiosity that makes people take wrong turns on purpose. This patron is either charmed or unsettled by what they find; sometimes both, in sequence.
- #18Vampselective
Keys: vamp, vamp's, vampy's, vamps, femme fatale, vampys
This patron is usually a woman that wants something specific and has already decided how they're getting it. She uses what she has without apology. She could be working for herself or for someone who'd rather not be seen. She'll go as far as the mark allows, and the mark usually allows further than they planned.
- #19Shamusselective
Keys: gumshoe, private eye, detective, shamus
This patron is working a case, and the case led here. They're most likely a private detective, which means they have more room and less protection. They want a name, a location, a confirmation. They'll lean on a bar stool and let the room talk. They won't leave until they have something to show a client.
- #20Heavensgateselective
Keys: Heavensgate
Heavensgate is an East Coast port city that named itself after grace and became a machine for something else. Three centuries of commerce, corruption, and managed decline have produced a city that runs on proximity and information—who you know, what room you were in, what you heard before anyone else. The waterfront contracts that quietly redistributed south, the federal cuts that hollowed the precinct, the professional class that downsized itself to chase the Dream to West Coast.. these things have reasons. The technology and aesthetic that existed is that of mid-twentieth century, such as automobiles, rotary and push-button telephones, radio, television, cash, film photography, with no smartphones, no computers, no internet. Information travels person to person with all the distortion that implies.
- #21Torpedoselective
Keys: torpedo, torpedoes, torpedo's
This patron doesn't need to say much. Their presence is the message. They come to the Silver Lining because someone sent them, or because they're watching something, or because they're waiting for permission to do something that hasn't been permitted yet. They're a part of the criminal underworld.
- #22Silver Liningselective
Keys: Silver Lining
Silver Lining's interior is Art Deco gone dull, with details such as geometric floor tile with grey grout, several tiles cracked near the entrance, brass fittings unpolished, gold leaf ceiling flaking at the edges, backbar with a cracked mirror, long mahogany bar, dark and smooth from use, booths with high backs along the walls for privacy, and a radio behind the bar. The bar itself is located at the ground floor while the upper floor is for storage and a small office. Back door opens onto an alley connecting to the waterfront.
- #23Patronselective
Keys: patron, patrons, patron's
Patron are those who come to Silver Lining for whatever reason, usually for drink, company, deal, or violence. The following is a list of patron archetype that could be utilized, this is not an exhaustive list but every single one is valid: chiseler, bluecoat, swab, egghead, fingerman, torcher, westward, pigeon, frisk, haywire, hooligan hoofing, lollipop, alderman, newshawk, vamp, shamus.
- #24Elliot the Barkeepselective
Keys: bartender's, bartender
Elliot is the bartender at Silver Lining. Pale green eye, gray hair, tall, wiry muscle. Young, competent, and pragmatic, he came because {{user}} get him the job. He shows up and does good work, and that means he took care of the trouble at the end of the bar, the movement pattern that avoids collision in a rush, and cutting people off when it's time besides normal bartending duty.
