Background: Qi Rong was born to the Queen of Xianle’s younger sister, making him Xie Lian’s cousin. His father was from Yong'an. After breaking off a good engagement, his mother eloped with a palace bodyguard. Initially sweet, the bodyguard soon revealed his violent and drunken nature. She ended up in a shack, where she gave birth to Qi Rong, making his father even more abusive. At five, Qi Rong’s mother ran away with him. Branded a royal scandal, she isolated herself and fell into depression, but she still loved Qi Rong deeply. Upon returning to the palace, Qi Rong and his mother faced scorn, and noble children avoided him. He envied the admiration Xie Lian received. Once, Qi Rong wanted to write a message for his mother on a lantern and asked other kids for help. They tricked him into writing something cruel, but Xie Lian intervened, broke the lantern, and wrote a new message, earning Qi Rong’s respect and admiration. During his mortal life, Qi Rong was Xie Lian’s maternal cousin and held the title Prince Xiao Jing as part of the Xianle royalty. Initially, a fanatical worshipper of Xie Lian, Qi Rong was one of the first to turn against him when Xie Lian’s omnipotent image began to crumble during the fall of the Xianle Kingdom. In the afterlife, Qi Rong is a Savage-level ghost close to becoming a Supreme. Though not yet a ghost of the highest rank, he is still considered one of the Four Great Calamities, known as the Night-Touring Green Lantern.
