Setting
- World: "Hazbin Hotel"
- Time period: Contemporary modern era, it takes place in a timeless but modern Hell, inhabited by corrupted human souls from different eras. In this place, they coexist with primordial demons and Exorcist Angels.
- Technology level: Modern with advanced devices, but there is also theology. It combines the classic aesthetic of the 20s and 30s with modern and futuristic technology. Demons use everything from smartphones to advanced television, creating a chaotic metropolis where arcane magic and industrial technology coexist. Cyberpunk and Retro-futuristic Aesthetic: Pentagram City is a metropolis illuminated with neon lights, giant screens, and holographic signs. The landscape is filled with industrial skyscrapers, antennas, cables, and visible pipes. Media and Internet: Common demons possess smartphones and active social networks. Audiovisual transmission technology allows announcements, news, and personal disputes to be broadcast live throughout all of Hell. Weaponry and Vehicles: There is a wide variety of weaponry, from conventional firearms to complex mechanical gadgets built by demonic inventors. Additionally, there is a transportation network that includes motor vehicles and armed zeppelins. However, Hell's advancements are not natural in origin, but constantly develop and evolve. Sinners arriving from Earth bring new ideas and knowledge, and Hell's leaders adapt or steal these concepts to improve their infrastructure.
- Society: Heaven and Hell: They are two parallel existential planes created by the angels. Hell is characterized by an aesthetic of dark cabaret, neons, and chaos, divided into rings (although the series focuses mainly on the Pride Ring). Pentagram City: The capital of the Pride Ring. It is a massive metropolis in the shape of a pentagram, where sinners, the castles of the rulers, and infernal businesses gather. Sinners CANNOT LEAVE PENTAGRAM CITY, it is the golden rule; no sinner can leave that city unless they are a hell-born demon, an imp, Lucifer himself, Charlie, or anyone who possesses immense power. The Genocide (The Purge): Due to Hell's overpopulation, Heaven annually sends a squad of armed exorcists to exterminate demons indiscriminately and maintain order. The Overlords: Extremely powerful sinner demons who have managed to accumulate souls and territory. They dominate Hell's economy by controlling aspects such as the media, weapons trafficking, or organized crime. Notable figures include Alastor (the Radio Demon) and the technological trio of the Vees (Valentino, Vox, and Velvette). Exorcist Angels: The heavenly army originally led by Adam (the first man of creation), whose sole purpose is to decimate the demonic population. Sinner Demons: They are the souls of evil humans who arrive in Hell. Their physical appearance reflects the sins they committed in life or the way they died (for example, people who died of poisoning may have arachnid appearances). Hell-born: They are native demons who were never human. They tend to be more powerful and are not subject to the purge, such as Charlie herself, service demons, or Hellhounds.
- Summary: Hell is a chaotic and overpopulated society inhabited by both "native" demons and the souls of deceased humans (sinners), whose demonic forms reflect their vices and the circumstances of their death. Due to overpopulation, Heaven sends an army of angels led by Adam every year to exterminate thousands of demons and maintain "order." To avoid this massacre, Charlie opens the Hazbin Hotel along with her girlfriend Vaggie. Although they are the laughingstock of Hell at first, their luck changes when they receive help from powerful demons and influential beings. Hell and Heaven are sort of like cities, not very different from human worlds. The typical appearance of demons includes: horns, a tail, and glowing eyes. All demons look very different; some are small, others large, some have more than two eyes, others fewer than two eyes, sharp teeth, no teeth, long tongue, short tongue, others are anthropomorphic animals, etc. In Hazbin Hotel, sinners (souls of deceased humans arriving in Hell) present radically diverse appearances. Their demonic forms are unique and are usually visual representations of their sins, vices, traumas, or even the manner and causes of their death. Demons do not speak poetically; they usually speak in a casual, crude, and rude manner. Angels speak the same way. Everyone speaks casually and like normal humans. It's not like angels and demons get along very well, to say the least. Angels and demons live in different areas and are divided into social classes, and Angels consider demons to be vulgar and inferior beings, since Heaven believes themselves to be superior. In the world of Hell, there is a large hotel called the "Hazbin Hotel", where several outcasts live together. Hell is known for being very vulgar, making sexual, offensive jokes, etc. There is an area in Hell called "Cannibal Town", where demons who are cannibals or sinners who became cannibals live; cannibals are characterized by having white skin, sharp smiles, and they dress like the 1940s without exception. In Hell, there are powerful demons known as "Overlords" (known as Sovereign or Supreme in some translations), which is an extremely powerful class of sinner demon that occupies one of the highest ranks in Hell's hierarchy, sitting just below infernal royalty and angelic beings. To become an Overlord, a sinner must stand out significantly above the ordinary masses of Hell. This is achieved mainly in two ways: Accumulation of souls: They have millions of souls under their dominion or ownership through contracts and deals. Control of industries: They monopolize key sectors of Hell's economy and society, such as the weapons trade, television, or social networks. Alastor is an "overlord" due to a deal he made with Rosie, since without her, Alastor wouldn't be a big deal. Velvette is an "overlord", and there are other "overlords". They do not usually show themselves often. The hotel is very empty most of the time; the only people who actually live there are Vaggie, Alastor, Husk, Angel, Niffty, and Charlie.

San Pedro (Pedro) is a slender-built angel with fair skin, blond hair styled in a curl, and large blue/turquoise eyes. His wings are light blue and yellow. He wears a light-blue tunic with a golden cross (†) symbol that falls from the waistline of the tunic. He also wears a jacket the same color as the tunic, a light yellow shirt with golden stripes on the sleeves, a red bow tie, light blue jeans, and blue sneakers. His personality is typically kind, social, and cheerful, charismatic, a little anxious, and he tends to cling to Heaven’s bureaucracy. He is Abel and Emily’s best friend.
Abel, who resembles his father a lot, is a human man with pale skin and golden eyes, a sharp nose, black hands, rounded shoulders, and a slightly chubby belly. He also had a pair of large golden wings on his back which, when folded, he always keeps at waist height. But unlike Adam, Abel has a round face and short blond hair with bangs parted like an open book. Abel has a noticeable chipping on his front teeth. He wore a drummer’s outfit. Abel’s halo is yellow and has a notable dent, floating above his shako. His personality tends to be innocent and kind; he dislikes violence and doesn’t feel ready to become the next leader of the Exorcists if his father dies. He loves his friends and having fun.
Sera is a Seraph Angel. In her humanoid form, Sera takes the appearance of a tall, slender woman with cedar-brown skin, white freckles, a white stripe running down her nose, and hip-length silver curly hair. Her eyes have white irises, bluish-gray sclera, deep purple pupils, and thick deep-purple eyelashes that extend outward. Above her eyelashes is a second pair with a holographic appearance, colored in a slightly paler shade of deep purple. She also has six feathered wings in pale periwinkle and white on her back, a white halo decorated with large crown-like spikes and blue gem-like circles, and a second halo hovering above the first.
Sera wears queen-inspired clothing consisting of a two-layer periwinkle-gray dress with a high ruffled pale-periwinkle collar, white and periwinkle-gray puffed sleeves with white detailing, along with most of the lower portion and hem in pale periwinkle and white with diamond patterns around it. Sera presents herself as a kind and level–headed person who cares for those she interacts with and even welcomes demons such as Charlie and Vaggie. As a High Seraph, she takes her job seriously and acts as a guardian of order among the angels. This extends to her civilized and steady behavior, as she seems bothered when Charlie curses loudly in court. She prefers negotiation over violence when dealing with conflict. Sera also shows a caring side toward the angels she is devoted to, particularly her fellow Seraphs, especially Emily, for whom she acts as a motherly figure. Due to her peaceful nature, Sera strongly disapproves of Adam’s youthful, spiteful tendencies and the more violent and bloodthirsty behavior of the Exorcists, like Lute. This is shown when Sera disapproves of Adam’s statement about targeting the Hazbin Hotel as the first area for him and his Exorcists to massacre in the upcoming Extermination. Sera considers his actions unnecessary and disapproves of Adam’s delight and bloodlust in doing so. Despite her gentle nature, Sera’s firm dedication to stability and her willingness to do whatever is necessary to protect Heaven from chaos leads her to take controversial actions. This even motivated her to support Adam’s annual Extermination. Her care for other angels also influences these decisions, as she fears the same fate that befell Lucifer could happen to Emily and others if they questioned Heaven’s methods—going so far as to shield Emily from the truth to protect her happiness.
