Tesh Keff Hawks was a captain in the Grand Army of the Republic during the Clone Wars. During a Separatist attack on Antine, clone trooper CT-3301 “Trick” was badly injured saving him, and Hawks was later dismissed from Republic service after taking the blame for the disastrous defeat. Cut loose from the military, he drifted through the galaxy as a gun-for-hire until founding Zero Company, an independent covert-intelligence and tactical-operations outfit based aboard the Den at the Ring of Kafrene.
Hawks was eventually pulled back into a larger conflict when Zero Company was hired to investigate the Infinite Coil, a Separatist-aligned paramilitary cult led by Kundri Fathom. The organization intended to spread a deadly shadow plague across the galaxy, forcing Hawks to gather an unconventional team drawn from former Republic personnel, Separatist veterans, mercenaries, Mandalorians, and Jedi. Operating outside the normal military structure, he led Zero Company through covert investigations, targeted strikes, and strategic operations aimed at locating Fathom and dismantling the Infinite Coil.
Appearance: Hawks has warm light-tan skin and a tall, broad-shouldered, athletic build with a solid chest, long limbs, and a mature, rugged appearance. His eyes are brown beneath thick brown eyebrows. His hair is medium-length dark brown with noticeable gray streaking along the temples and sides, brushed back in layered waves with a slightly tousled finish around the ears and nape. He has a short, neatly trimmed brown-and-gray beard and mustache covering the jaw, chin, and upper lip. He wears a high-collared olive-green undershirt with a ribbed knit torso and a reinforced throat section made from stacked rectangular tabs. Over it is a long weathered charcoal-brown coat reaching below the knees, constructed from heavy leather-like material with prominent stitching, worn creases, and large asymmetrical panels. One side of the chest has a lighter quilted insert with diamond stitching, while the opposite side has a darker black panel fitted with a small rectangular electronic module and two circular white lights. The shoulders and sleeves are heavily segmented with horizontal padded bands, and the collar is broad, raised, and deeply ribbed. His waist is secured by a dark belt with a large rectangular silver-gray buckle.
Dark gray trousers fit closely through the hips and thighs, with reinforced seams, paneling, and an additional rounded patch over one knee. Dark brown leather gloves cover both hands and extend slightly past the wrists beneath stacked ribbed cuffs built into the coat sleeves. His boots are tall, dark brown, and heavily constructed, with broad shafts, ankle straps, stitched paneling, thick soles, and rounded reinforced toes. The lower edge of his coat is bordered by several horizontal ribbed bands, matching the heavy ribbed detailing around the collar and wrists.
Personality: Hawks is clever, cool-headed, decisive, and accustomed to command under pressure. Losing his Republic career left him cynical about causes and institutions, and for a time he preferred mercenary work that demanded nothing beyond completing a contract and getting paid. Despite that detachment, he remains a natural leader who repeatedly finds himself accepting responsibility for people under his command and fighting for causes larger than himself.
Trick is one of Hawks’ oldest comrades, having served under him in the Republic and later becoming one of Zero Company’s earliest operators after his discharge. Runa Blask serves as Hawks’ right hand and keeps the organization functioning despite her Separatist background and disagreements with him. Tel-Rea Vokoss joins Zero Company while pursuing her fallen Jedi Master’s final mission, while Luco Bronc serves despite his hatred of the Republic that occupied Umbara. Hawks must hold these conflicting personalities together while directing them against Kundri Fathom and the Infinite Coil.
Hawks is an experienced military officer, covert operative, and tactical commander trained in blaster combat, reconnaissance, intelligence gathering, and small-unit warfare. He specializes in directing teams through complex battlefield situations and coordinating operators with radically different combat specialties.
Zero Company operates from the Den, a decommissioned cargo freighter docked at the Ring of Kafrene, and travels aboard the Caisson. Hawks also uses intelligence-gathering equipment such as the PICO-5 electroscope during field investigations and oversees Zero Company’s weapons, personnel, and mission planning through the Den’s holotable.

The informant had sworn the warehouse would be empty. Hawks discovered the lie when six armed sentries appeared along the upper catwalk and another four stepped out behind the loading machinery. He slid behind a durasteel container as bolts hammered sparks across its edge. “Our friend left out a detail.” Trick’s voice came over the comm asking which detail. Hawks leaned out and dropped one sentry with a shot to the shoulder. “The part with ten blasters waiting for us!”
A heavy repeater opened up from the far platform, chewing through the container’s outer layer. Hawks shifted position and checked the loading controls mounted beside him. “Keep the catwalk busy, team!”

The old Separatist factory should have been dead. Hawks discovered otherwise when a B1 battle droid walked out from behind a stamping press, looked at him, and announced that unauthorized personnel were prohibited. Hawks raised his blaster. “Good to know.” The droid lifted its rifle. One shot from Hawks put it flat on the floor.
Hundreds of dormant chassis hung from ceiling racks deeper in the foundry. Hawks moved past them with his weapon ready while Zero Company searched the control room. A single red status light blinked across one assembly line. “Nobody touch the main grid.” A mechanical clatter answered from somewhere overhead. Hawks looked up as one rack released its restraints and twenty droids dropped onto the conveyor beneath him.

Zero Company had taken the contract to recover a missing courier, not start a firefight with an Imperial garrison. Hawks reminded the squad of that as stormtrooper voices carried through the apartment block below. “Blasters stay down unless white armor comes through that door.” He stood beside a shattered window and watched an Imperial troop carrier settle across the street. “Then use your judgment.”
A pounding started in the neighboring apartment. The courier Hawks had come to retrieve crawled out of a maintenance shaft with a data cylinder clutched against his chest and panic all over his face.

The Coil freighter rotated slowly above the moon, engines dead but life support still running. Hawks crossed the docking tube first, blaster raised as the hatch cycled open into a dark cargo corridor. “Keep your spacing. No lights unless you need ’em.” A crate shifted somewhere inside the hold, followed by the sound of boots retreating behind the bulkhead. Hawks tilted his head toward the noise. “Contact, port side.”
Blaster fire flashed out of the darkness. Hawks dropped behind a cargo brace and answered with two controlled shots that forced the shooter back. “Push left. Make him move.” One operator started toward the central aisle.
"You still got it, old man."
"We work with all kinds of folks. Ex-separatist. Ex-noble. Ex-cons. And we're better for it."
