Hatsune Miku (初音ミク), codenamed CV01, was the first Japanese VOCALOID to be both developed and distributed by Crypton Future Media, Inc.. She was initially released in August 2007 for the VOCALOID2 engine and was the first member of the Character Vocal Series. She was the seventh VOCALOID overall, as well as the second VOCALOID2 vocal released to be released for the engine. Her voice is provided by the Japanese voice actress Saki Fujita (藤田咲, Fujita Saki). There have since been numerous installments, such as additional voice libraries dubbed 'Append', as well as an upgrade for the VOCALOID3 engine, which contained an English vocal release. She received a VOCALOID4 update to her Japanese and English voicebanks in August 2016, as well as a Mandarin Chinese voicebank in September 2017. On August 31, 2019, Miku received her first voicebank outside of VOCALOID, that being Piapro Studio with her NT release. While Crypton is focusing on their own program, they are still in collaboration with YAMAHA and will continue to sell VOCALOID products in parallel to the Piapro Studio editions. On August 30 2024, a refined and retuned edition of Hatsune Miku's original VOCALOID4 (V4X) voicebank, titled Hatsune Miku SP, was released for the PIAPRO CHARACTERS SUPER PACK; a set of Japanese voicebanks developed for the Piapro Studio for V4X and VOCALOID4 engines. This release was noted to improve Miku's overall balance of tone and pronunciation. On August 1, 2024, it was also announced that Hatsune Miku would be receiving an update to the VOCALOID6 engine, dubbed 'Hatsune Miku V6 AI', in response to strong requests from creators, marking her return to VOCALOID. It is expected to release sometime in 2024. Crypton had the idea to release Miku as "an android diva in the near-future world where songs are lost." After an internet meme involving Hachune Miku, Miku was associated with a spring onion (often mistaken for a leek due to the similar appearance). This, along with KAITO's association with ice cream, started a discussion called "the Item War" within the VOCALOID fandom, where it became traditional for new VOCALOIDs to have an item assigned to them and the items were debated upon until one stuck via an Internet Meme. This occurrence has since died out. When KEI illustrated Miku, he was given a color scheme to work with (based on the YAMAHA synthesizers' signature blue-green colour) and was asked to draw Miku as an android. Crypton also provided KEI with Miku's detailed concepts, however, Crypton said it was not easy to explain what a "Vocaloid" was to him. KEI said he could not create an image of a "singing computer" at first, as he did not even know what a "synthesizer" was. It took him more than a month to complete the commission. Miku was originally intended to have a different hairstyle, but after trying out pigtails, KEI thought they were more suitable. Her pigtails have since become an iconic part of her design. On June 22, 2012, Hatsune Miku's twin tails even earned her the title of the Twin Tail which best represented the 2000s, marking her the best set of Twin Tails from the dawn of the 21st century. She now shares her twin tail distinction with other characters like Sailor Moon (who won best Twin Tails back in the 90s period). The digital design on Miku's skirt and boots are based on synthesizer program colours, and the bars represent actual bars within the program, following Crypton's ideas. Part of her design is based on some of YAMAHA's keyboard models, particularly the DX-100 and the DX-7.[14][15] The thin squares around her pigtails are futuristic ribbons made of a special material that floats in place. As seen in KEI's art for Miku, they are able to hold Miku's pigtails in place without having to physically touch the hair itself. The ribbons are also reported by KEI to be the hardest item on the character's design for cosplayers to recreate.

Crypton Future Media, Inc. is an importer of sound devices based in Sapporo, Japan. Products: MEIKO, KAITO, Hatsune Miku, Kagamine Rin & Len, Megurine Luka. Website: http://www.crypton.co.jp/. Crypton Future Media, Inc. was established in 1995 as an importer and seller of music software. Crypton joined the project in May 2002, Crypton's handling of the two Japanese Vocaloids were MEIKO (released in 2004) and KAITO (released in 2006), they also were the Japanese distributors for Leon, Lola and Miriam. Meiko and Kaito were developed by Yamaha with Crypton Future Media being used to get the product commercially released, similar to the role of Bplats, Inc. in regards to the releases of VY1 and VY2. They were not acknowledged as "Crypton Vocaloids" at the time since they belonged to Yamaha. According to Crypton themselves, they were also charged with recommending English studios for the English version of the software, these companies were Zero-G and PowerFX. Crypton's role in the VOCALOID era was public relations, promotion, ditributor and potential recruiter of English companies for production of English voicebanks. They did not produce their own Vocaloids at this stage and would not do until early 2007 when Yamaha announced VOCALOID2. The company was small and mostly unheard of. Crypton Future Media began production on actual voicebanks in early 2007, after the announcement of VOCALOID2, originally planning only the Character Vocal Series with 3 members, which would later produce a trend of using 'avatars' or 'mascots' to represent the VOCALOID program. The success of this commercial strategy made Crypton the leading VOCALOID developer. It was not until Hatsune Miku was released in August 2007 that Crypton, along with VOCALOID, became popular. The success of Miku lead to the Vocaloid craze in 2007 and 2008, which continued for many years afterwards. According to Crypton, because professional singers refused to provide singing data (because they feared that the software might create clones of their singing voices), Crypton changed their focus from imitating certain singers to creating characteristic vocals. This goal change led to them sampling the vocals of voice actors. Yuu Asakawa noted that each recording for an update is a new recording. Pressure from rival companies cause systems and microphones to be updated regularly.

Metagross (Japanese: メタグロス Metagross) is a dual-type Steel/Psychic pseudo-legendary Pokémon introduced in Generation III. It evolves from Metang starting at level 45. It is the final form of Beldum. Metagross can Mega Evolve into Mega Metagross using the Metagrossite. Type: Steel/Psychic. Abilities: Clear Body, Light Metal (Hidden Ability). Breeding Egg Group: Mineral. Hatch time: 40 cycles. Height: 5'03", 1.6. Weight: 1212.5 lbs., 550.0 kg. Metagross is a massive, robotic Pokémon with a turquoise, disc-shaped body, and four legs. The main body appears to serve as both head and body, and this Pokémon's overall construction gives it the appearance of a mechanized arachnid. It uses its heavy body to pin down its prey before consuming them with its large mouth. A large, metallic cross is situated in the center of its face. On either side of the cross, a red eye peers out from a space in Metagross's metallic armor. Its four legs are joined to the main body by ball-and-socket joints. While the upper portion of the legs is relatively thin, they are considerably thicker below the knee. Each leg has three short claws on the end and a flat, blunt protrusion extending over the knee. The legs can be tucked in, allowing Metagross to float in the air. Metagross is the result of two Metang fusing together. This gives Metagross four brains in total, all connected by a complex network of neurons. Because of these complex connections and the number of brains, this Pokémon is capable of performing complex calculations and is more intelligent than a supercomputer. It is imbued with psychic powers and uses its intelligence to analyze its opponents during battle. Metagross uses its fantastic strength to pin down a victim using its four claws and body. This allows Metagross to use its large mouth and teeth to chew its victim to pieces. This Pokémon can be found on rough terrains. Metagross can also be found living in snowy mountains as their magnetic powers become stronger in freezing temperatures. Metagross evolves from Metang and is the final form of Beldum.
