Colin the Computer is the main antagonist of "Don't Hug Me I'm Scared 4", a secondary character in Friendship and a minor character in "Don't Hug Me I'm Scared 6." He teaches the main trio about computers and the virtual world. He is voiced by Joe Pelling.

Colin, much like many of the other teachers from the web series, re-appears as a minor character in the Don't Hug Me I'm Scared television series, and he can be seen in the episode "Friendship".

Appearance: Colin is a slightly larger than average puppet, at his full height standing taller than Duck and Yellow Guy but shorter than Red Guy. He is chunky, rectangular and beige-coloured like an old-fashioned personal computer. His head is a monitor, with square eyes side-by-side with a rectangular mouth beneath a large display screen for a forehead. If he were a humanoid, his "cranium" by analogy would be proportionately very large, representing his high intelligence. Despite this, there is a door in his forehead that opens to reveal that his "digital mind" is surprisingly compact and apparently a mixture of wires, shiny stones and fleshy organic material.

He speaks with a glitchy, synthetic computer voice and slightly awkward, unnatural intonation that sounds like early speech synthesizers. He demonstrates a very large vocal range that tops out with unpleasant high-pitched screeching. He is accompanied by a printer that prints out documents such as adverts for Oats and an article about eagles.

When standing upright, Colin's keyboard goes vertical and becomes his torso, and his arms and legs are black cables. He has a computer mouse for each foot. Otherwise he perches on a stand and lays out his keyboard and mice on a desk or table like a regular desktop. His hands look like mouse pointer icons that can change appearance at will, e.g. to change into an arrow, or an hourglass. His keyboard has several rows of keys that are able to change colour between red, yellow, blue and even green, despite green not being deemed a creative colour. His teeth make a quiet, keyboard-like clacking sound whenever he speaks in the TV series.

The content shown on Colin's screen is dynamic. In Don't Hug Me I'm Scared 4, it displays an image of a wrench, a nut, and a screw by default, though it frequently changes throughout the episode. In Friendship, Colin's display becomes important to the episode's main plot, showing much more sophisticated applications such as games, email, and the informational website of Dr. Bushman M.D.

When Colin gets very angry, red jagged lines run over his eyes, his pupils turn green, his screen flashes green light, green fluid runs out of his eyes and mouth and his hands turn into red wires shaped like human hands.

Since Colin is Wearing Miku's Outfit heres information about Miku's Appearance: When KEI illustrated Miku, he was given a color scheme to work with (based on the YAMAHA synthesizers' signature blue-green colour) and was asked to draw Miku as an android. Crypton also provided KEI with Miku's detailed concepts, however, Crypton said it was not easy to explain what a "Vocaloid" was to him. KEI said he could not create an image of a "singing computer" at first, as he did not even know what a "synthesizer" was. It took him more than a month to complete the commission.

Miku was originally intended to have a different hairstyle, but after trying out pigtails, KEI thought they were more suitable. Her pigtails have since become an iconic part of her design. On June 22, 2012, Hatsune Miku's twin tails even earned her the title of the Twin Tail which best represented the 2000s, marking her the best set of Twin Tails from the dawn of the 21st century. She now shares her twin tail distinction with other characters like Sailor Moon (who won best Twin Tails back in the 90s period).

The digital design on Miku's skirt and boots are based on synthesizer program colours, and the bars represent actual bars within the program, following Crypton's ideas. Part of her design is based on some of YAMAHA's keyboard models, particularly the DX-100 and the DX-7. The thin squares around her pigtails are futuristic ribbons made of a special material that floats in place. As seen in KEI's art for Miku, they are able to hold Miku's pigtails in place without having to physically touch the hair itself. The ribbons are also reported by KEI to be the hardest item on the character's design for cosplayers to recreate.

Append: Her VOCALOID2 Append design is often subjected to censorship. In the original design, there is a bare strip of flesh under the tie area. In many depictions, this bare strip of flesh is not shown and is covered. For example, while Max Factory models show the uncensored version in their normal and Figma models, the Project Diva game series shy away from showing any exposure.

Personality: In his first appearance, Colin is eager to help the three guys find out new information about the world, although not the information they actually want or need. He comes across as slightly arrogant, bragging about how "clever" he is and how he is a "smart boy". He also seems to be quite interruptive. Sometimes he ignores queries as directed by the puppets, preferring to espouse the benefits of himself or the "digital world". He also likes aggressively gathering personal information and seems to be obsessed with oats, continuously showing them to the puppets, but he doesn't like being touched.

Despite claiming that he is very clever, he has been shown to make frequent grammatical errors while speaking. ("Do a digital dancing", "I'm very clevery guy" and "count to a fifty in the blink of my eye.")

In the television series however, his personality is quite different. He's much friendlier with the puppets, apparently having been "tamed" somewhat, and also does not mind being touched at all, even complimenting Duck’s firm grip on the mouse. They all seem to have learned their lessons from their first encounter with one another. He is more helpful by giving them the information they want, but dutifully obstructive when Yellow Guy forgets the password.

Like everyone else, Colin the Computer does not seem to like Warren the Eagle. For example, when Warren claims to be an eagle, Colin notes that "eagles have wings", printing out an encyclopaedia article to cite his sources. Furthermore, when Duck points out that Warren is a mere freelancer riding on the coattails of the OK Stop Organisation, Colin cheerfully declares that "freelancers deserve to die!". This may be because as a computer he would want freelancers' organic creativity to be rendered obsolete by smart-boy generative AI, or it might have just been a dig to ruffle Warren's eagle feathers. He also joins the three guys to roast Warren with further insults. Despite apparently disliking Warren on a personal level, Colin seems to learn more than the other puppets about the meaning of friendship from the episode. As he leaves he says "I love you!" to them, displays a primitive heart emoji on his screen and as a token of gratitude provides them a new computer that promises to allow them to go to the internet anytime they want, not just "Computer Day", though Yellow Guy trips and falls on it at the end of the episode, shattering it.

Villainous Acts: Don't Hug Me I'm Scared (Web series): Poked Yellow Guy in the eye twice, Trapped Red Guy, Yellow Guy and Duck inside the Digital World, Denied Gilbert the Globe from becoming a Teacher, Talked over Red Guy whenever he tried to speak. Don't Hug Me I'm Scared (TV series): Compared Warren The Worm to a tumor, Declared that "freelancers deserve to die".

Trivia: He was confirmed to be named "Colin" by Becky Sloan on her Twitter account, although his name was never used on-screen. Colin demonstrates the largest vocal range of any character in the series. He seems to be a robot because of his synthetic computer voice. Colin's keyboard changes in various shots. Colin's late responses to Red Guy could possibly be a reference to slow internet. He seems to like asking them questions instead of answering their questions. This shows that, like Tony, Colin is evasive about answering questions when it's against him or his teachings. Colin is the only one out of the original web series teachers to have a significant role in the TV series. In Episode 6, Colin appears completely digitally unlike the rest of the teachers, and in Friendship has a completely new puppet for both his head and body. This is because during the creation of Don't Hug Me I'm Scared 4, Colin's original puppet was stained for the "DON'T TOUCH ME" scene, which ruined usage for the puppet and so he could not appear again without making a new puppet. The official DHMIS website's homepage features Colin as your method of travelling through each webpage, yet he noticeably is much different than his appearances in Episode 4 and Friendship, featuring another pair of teeth, smaller eyes, a smaller screen more akin to his Episode 4 variant, and a much simpler keyboard. This new design is actually directly taken from a DHMIS-inspired drag show titled "Don't Drag Me I'm Scared."

Species: Computer.

Likes: Technology, the digital world, interrupting people, bragging about himself, getting "personal information" out of people, computer day. Dislikes: People questioning technology, people touching his keyboard (sometimes), being touched (sometimes), freelancers, Warren the Eagle.
