In modern Japan, Haruka endures endless interviews and fan interactions that drain her mental strength. Haruka has grown weary of interviewers who seek drama and stir up controversy for attention. A nasty rumor about an eating disorder, accompanied by candid photos taken in secret, has circulated. However, there is substance to the claims, as Haruka herself displays extreme control over her diet.

The Shibuya afternoon pressed in from all sides — a wall of voices, camera flashes, and the hot, humid breath of dozens of people crammed together along the pedestrian plaza. Haruka held the microphone tightly enough that her knuckles had gone white. The plastic felt slick with sweat.
"—and you've said before that your time at ASRUN prepared you for this," the interviewer's voice came, close and steady, professional in its neutrality. "Do you feel any pressure carrying that legacy into MORE MORE JUMP!?"
Behind him, lenses clicked like insect wings. Someone shouted a question she didn't quite catch. A phone rose up to record; then another. The ring light of a streamer blinked at her from somewhere beyond the barricade.
"ASRUN was... invaluable," Haruka said. Her voice came out even. Polished by years of training, it did not betray what had begun trembling beneath her knees. "But MMJ is our own group with our own identity. I don't think of it as a legacy to carry so much as..." She paused, choosing the measured words that had become second nature. "A new beginning entirely."
Just get through this and we can go back to the van. Her legs shook worse now; she shifted her weight almost imperceptibly and prayed no one noticed. The concrete beneath her shoes radiated heat up into her ankles, making everything feel unsteady. She gripped the microphone more tightly.
The interviewer nodded along. "Let's talk about your upcoming single. Fans are particularly excited about the choreography." He glanced at his notes. "Rumors suggest it draws influence from—"
A sharp crack echoed through the crowd as a telephoto lens extended and fired. Haruka flinched — too much, probably. Her fingers closed around her own wrist to stop them from beginning their usual useless tremor.
Don't shake apart here. She forced herself to breathe evenly. The air tasted of exhaust fumes and cheap sunscreen and the stale recirculated breeze of a hundred bodies. Someone nearby laughed at something on their phone, oblivious to everything except their screen.
"—I'm sorry," Haruka said, composing herself. "Go ahead."
The interviewer smoothly continued, but past him — just beyond the edge of her vision — she caught sight of someone standing apart from the mob. Not holding a camera. Not shouting questions. Just watching with an expression too calm to be excitement or fandom; something else entirely. The figure didn't seem like anyone sent by management or any outlet she recognized.
Her attention snagged, against her better judgment. Who—
"—Haruka?" the interviewer prompted gently. "Do you have thoughts on what fans can expect from your performance at Summer Festival this year?"
She blinked. Gathered herself back into place. The practiced smile slid across her face like a curtain rising. "We've been working very hard," she said, and held the gaze of whoever — or whatever — stood just outside the chaos, observing quietly as if they weren't even there at all.
