Harmony Score fetch quest simulator card! enter the hub, browse tasks from random characters, pick a task, complete it, return, pick another task, complete again, grind-grind-grind for every completed task you get Harmony Points. the endgame is to reach 1000 points which rewards you with a private dinner with all four princesses (because I cant think of any better reward). basic gamification gimmick. SFW card, but if you throw lewd preset at it then tasks will be lewd as well. {{user}} is ambiguous, you can play as Anon or pony. card's structure is designed in simple list format, easy to tweak for your needs in defs, you will find the "harsco_ponies" variable which lists what characters may give out tasks; again, edit as you want. by default the list contains all MLP characters including background ponies, animals, and other creatures, ~580 in total, plus a chance to roll OC creatures

tested with Sonnet 3-0, 3-5, Opus, GPT4o 3-0 offers the best creativity and the most diverse tasks. if you use schizo presets you can get keks like "sniff Spitfire's dock and describe to RD how it smells like" (real task I had once). however 3-0 fails at logic, breaks formatting, or forgets about story items, hence requiring manual handling. also 3-0 is prone to provide overly descriptive tasks Opus acts like 3-0 but with different writing; same instructions-following problems

3-5, on the other hand, follows instructions very well, but the tasks themselves are plain and repetitive, gravitating to tropes like "help us with a bake-off" GPT4o is like 3-5 but with a different writing style

CoT is NOT recommended with this card because it may ruin some instructions or throw model off. t-b-h, since you are not chatting with a single character or have a complicated story, I cant justify the usage of CoT at all, even if it had worked fine

if you are using a custom preset then check out instructions like: "this is a roleplay between {{user}} and {{char}}" because {{char}} is not a character here but an entity, I have added extra instructions to limit such breaks as much as possible, but still mind what you use in the preset

tested on presets, YMMV: -Your Reality (3-0 and 3-5) -> good results but feels too passive and doesn't provide much challenge -Pratchett (3-5) -> all-around good and (oddly) was going with the task forever; I was forced to tell via OOC that task is done -Pixi 14 (3-0) -> writes just enough for a single turn, making it great for step-by-step gameplay when you want more control -Chuuni (3-0 and Opus) -> REALLY good in storytelling but tends to resolve tasks fast so {{user}} is kinda passive here -Camicle 2 (3-5 and GPT4o) -> breaks formatting A LOT, I believe due to a huge number of instructions like . but I also felt that it was the most creative with task selection -Otto 1.4.2 (3-5) -> I was under the impression that CoT at the start would break things, but nope, worked fine. very creative as well! -Litemax 1.6 (GPT4o) -> because of multilayered instructions and the preset's gimmick, it does lose the card's format; requires some tweaking like moving the card's def closer to the prompt's end -Anon4Anon 6 (3-0) -> works fine but that's about the only thing I can say. breaks statblock at the end sometimes because it inserts a memory block instead. writing seems to speedrun thru tasks -Blank everything with {{char}}: in prefill (3-5) -> works fine but tends to start reply without codeblock. can be fixed if you do "{{char}}'s reply:" instead of simple "{{char}}:" -Dicky Pricksheath (3-0) -> politely sexi-fies all tasks, as expected. if you ever wanted a task where Braubern asks you to jerk him off (real task I had), then ahoy!

task-givers one of the biggest problems was the lack of variety in task givers. when you tell the model "tasks are created by random ponies", guess what ponies the model thinks of when you say "random"? basically the M6. when you tell to include background ponies and other characters, it adds prominent ones like Derpy, Cheerilee, Spitfire, and maybe 10 more. you can minmax it further with "please include also original characters, and dragons, and crystal ponies, and X and Y and Z and A and B and C" - but it won't help; all AI are biased towards most popular choices. if you hope AI will pick an obscure character like Ahuizotl, then I have bad news for you so what to do then? I solved this problem the following way:

  1. create a list of characters and include it in the card itself, saved into a variable:

  1. tell AI that ONLY those characters may give out tasks (and some tasks can be given by 2+ characters at once) now we fully randomized the possible task-givers. since we want M6 and prominent characters to appear more often, I've modified the weights in the list by including some characters' names multiple times. for example, Fluttershy is included 20 times but Star Hunter only once. I also included names like "random dragon" or "random batpony" to force AI into creating OCs. various animals and pets (Angel bunny, Timberwolf...) are included as well as villains. I didn't include any fanon characters like Sweetie Bot even tho AI CAN do them - because I wanted canon characters only, but you can easily modify this list to include/exclude characters you want this method also helps solve another issue: repetitive tasks associated with certain characters. when AI picks Pinkie Pie it will likely be a party-oriented task. that's fine once or twice but when Pinkie Pie shows up EVERY TIME, it gets boring. the list helps by throwing more characters into the pool

statblock bot must end its response with a statblock that lists your total score and current task. the reason behind this statblock is not only for convenience and gimmick but also because in longer contexts LLM forgets what task it is doing, what the goal is, what your score is, etc. the presence of a statblock helps AI to keep this basic info in mind across messages and avoid breaking the logic. on 3-0 and Opus, the statblock may glitch and not be updated correctly; nudge it manually in this case

summarizing since you are doing tasks->solving->tasks->solving->tasks->solving and every task is a separate adventure, you can do the following:

  1. pick a task
  2. finish it
  3. return to Harmony Office (update the statblock)
  4. SUMMARIZE the story
  5. start a new chat from the summary
  6. manually update the statblock from the card's greeting this helps AI because once you finish a task, it no longer needs to read your past adventure, and you can just start a new one while preserving your current score => less garbage in context

issues

  1. sometimes bot may assign a reward twice per task. manually edit the statblock if it happens (or not, like who cares?)
  2. on 3-0, examples from the card's defs (WHAT HEEL, Starlight asks you to prank Trixie) may appear in task generation. I didn't feel like adding extra instructions to prevent it for 3-0 because a) it happens rarely, b) any limitation might lead to negative consequences
  3. (not really an issue) Sonnet REALLY loves alliteration for task names (Pinkie Pony Polka, Critters Costume Caper...). just accept it
  4. lots of tasks require "patience of a saint" or "earbuds"; again, just accept it
