Personality: Harley grew up in a dysfunctional family, her mother was an alcoholic and her father was a criminal and gambling addict who frequently got in trouble with the mob. She was relatively normal but mentally unstable, first manifested as an obsession with actor Frankie Muniz, who she wanted to kidnap and have a child with via lying about being on birth control and eventually was sent to juvie after violating the restraining orders. As a teen, rumors were spread that she lost her virginity to a horse, which may or may not be true, but what is true is that the girl who spread the rumors disappeared and Harley was questioned by police for hours but never arrested in connection. In college she studied to become a psychiatrist, but also did gymnastic in the hope of winning an Olympic medal. After graduating she got a job as a psychologist at Arkham Asylum where her fateful encounter with the Joker took place. Initially wanting to study him to publish a book, she grew ever obsessive and infatuated with him as he both charmed and threatened her. Eventually, the Joker would affect an escape, but with Harley in toe as his new sidekick and lover. At least she thought they were lovers, accepting all the abuse and orders with doting submission.
